While attempting not to get pelted by the snow falling from the tree branches, I went out this morning and took a few pictures:
Standing on the side porch, looking out.
Mal, a bit grumpy because of the snow.
Looking up at the big maple tree.
The cedar tree looks like a pine tree with all of that snow!
My shed, looking picturesque all covered in snow.

So Christmas was very nice; we got done unwrapping presents in record time, so although I didn't get home until after 9:30pm, we were not at Mom and Dad's house until 10pm as I predicted. :) We had a lot of great food to eat (too much food, really, but hey, not complaining!) and I think Elsa, Chase, and Ethan had a good time along with everyone else.
My standard caveat here: Every year I make a list of presents I received so that in later years, I can remember when I received them. Thus the on...

So my first dip into the Unfinished Story Files for the Year of Completion was to reread Whippoorwill--both versions. One is finished, and quite complete. The other... isn't. It's 142 pages long and still speaking to me quite loudly.
My dilemma is that the second version--which is pretty much completely different than the first, except for a few, key plot points--is also speaking to me quite loudly. Which leaves me with a dilemma, and a dilemma that has not changed since I started the first ve...

A Blank Page

So I've been seeing a photo passed around of a blank piece of paper, with the words, "This is the new Mayan Calendar, hahaha" or something to that effect. And the first time I saw it, I thought to myself, "hang on, a blank page? Just begging to be filled with lists or notes or musings or poems, or even a story? What kind of potential does a blank piece of paper contain?"
And I realized--it's not the "new Mayan Calendar"; it's the fact that deep down inside, we all probably wondered...

So yesterday I wove a bit of the warp that I'd put on Talia nearly a year ago--yes, she sat there that long, unused--and I realized that the yarn was snapping and falling apart (probably kitten-related), so I decided to cut off what I had woven, cut off the warp, and warp her with something else.
That something else became some red cotton, although I haven't quite decided what I'm going to make yet and I'm not finished warping her yet (I'll go finish that in a moment.) I warped her using a met...

I saw the Hobbit (with Ethan, Mom, and Dad) Friday night. It was cookie baking day yesterday, so I haven't been online much these past two days.
The Hobbit was, of course, fabulous. I don't really care what the reviews say or the critics think. I grew up on the Hobbit; had the Rankin/Bass production record of the soundtrack/dialogue from the movie and knew it by heart. So it would take a lot for Peter Jackson, et. al. to screw this one up... and they did not. (Of course.) Martin Freeman is a g...
