Book review now up!
Hello, Write Edge readers! I hope you’ve had a great day. Today I’m sharing my thoughts on The September House by Carissa Orlando. Here’s the opening to my post:
A couple move into an old house and discover that it’s haunted. When the husband leaves without warning, the wife is determined to try to live life normally—ghosts and all—until her somewhat-estranged daughter shows up demanding answers. Debut author Carissa Orlando uses her clinical psychology background to the fullest advantage in the thought-provoking book The September House.

Welcome, September (wait, it *is* September, right?)
Hello, Write Edge readers! No, I haven’t forgotten to look at my calendar. Where September usually starts to bring cooler temperatures in Central Illinois, we’re still looking at pretty fierce summer weather here. That’s what inspired my haiku for this first Monday of the month — check it out now on The Write Edge Writing Workshop!
September also means lots of great books, and in the middle of this week I’ll share with you my thoughts on one of the latest ones I’ve read. Tomorrow is the release date for The September House by Carissa Orlando. Find out what I thought of it on Wednesday on The Write Edge Bookshelf!
Finally, on Friday, it’s back to Instagram. I realize I missed posting this past week, but I’ll be sure to share some on Friday. Plus, on Saturday I’ll be at the Printer’s Row Lit Fest in Chicago, which means extra posts from that. Not only am I going to be selling copies of my award-winning book The Truth About Elves and In the Heart of the Linden Wood, I’m going to be able to check out book by hundreds of other authors. It’s a bibliophile’s dream come true! If you’re in the Chicago area, come see me in the tent with other great Chicago Writers Association authors.
Have a great day and week, readers!

Book review now up!
Hello, Write Edge readers! I’ve posted my latest book review for you. Today I’m sharing my thoughts on The Woman Inside by Swedish author M.T. Edvardsson. Here’s the opening to my post:
When a wealthy couple with a troubled history end up dead, their cleaning woman and her landlord become the prime suspects for murder. As share their complicated lives and history with the police, it becomes clear there’s much more going on than meets the eye. Swedish author M.T. Edvardsson tries to use the flashback method to tell a story that ultimately falls flat in execution in the U.S. release of his new book, The Woman Inside.

The last week of August!
Hello, Write Edge readers! It’s the last week of August, and we’ve finally gotten a respite from the searing heat last week. During extreme summer temperatures, I often think of those of you who live in the Southwestern states. My hat off to you — I don’t know how you do it!
Today is also the last Monday of the month, so that means I’m sharing my writers’ showcase with you. Check out the fiction, nonfiction, and poetry that caught my eye this month. Find it all now on The Write Edge Writing Workshop!
Last week in my Instagram #bookreviewpreview, I shared that I’d be reviewing The Woman Inside by Swedish author M.T. Edvardsson. Come back on Wednesday to find out what I thought of this domestic thriller. You’ll find it on The Write Edge Bookshelf!
And, at the end of the week, I’ll give you another peek into my corner of the world with new Instagram posts. Missed previous ones? Check them out on the platform with my handle, @EktaRGarg, or on my Facebook author page.
Finally, the Books for Maui auction brought in more than $170,000! I’m so proud that In the Heart of the Linden Wood was a (tiny) piece of this amazing effort to raise relief funds for those in dire need in Maui. Keep finding ways to help, readers, whether it’s with this effort or any other place where you see a need.
Have a great day, readers!

Instagram posts now up!
Hello, Write Edge readers! Happy Friday! It’s still hot here in Central Illinois, but we’re going to see a merciful turn in the weather when it cools down tomorrow. Finally!
I’ve posted my latest Instagram posts for you, including an update on the Books for Maui auction to aid relief efforts in Hawaii. The original goal went from $25,000 to $125,000, and it looks like the auction will hit that before it ends!
You can still get in on the fun — with the time difference, there are several hours left to bid on something for you or a writer/reader friend. Click here to check out all of the items now! And find me on Instagram with my handle, @EktaRGarg, or on my Facebook author page.

Jumping in midweek
Hello, Write Edge readers! I’m jumping into the schedule midweek this week. Having a conscientious high school senior in the house means I’m spending time editing college application essays on top of everything else I’m doing. Which means I couldn’t post on Monday. But here I am!
I’ve posted my latest book review for you. Today I’m sharing my thoughts on the spring 2023 release Hard Rain by Samantha Jayne Allen. Here’s the opening to my post:
A rookie private investigator gets her first solo case to find a missing Good Samaritan in her small town. Along the way, she runs across a growing drug problem and finds disturbing evidence it may be connected to her case. Author Samantha Jayne Allen brings back the brooding young woman from her first book in this follow-up novel that plods along in her new release Hard Rain.

Also, this week I’m also part of a really cool effort to help raise funds for homes and businesses lost in Maui. A group of Hawaiian authors, editors, and others in the publishing industry rallied together to put together an auction of all things bookish. If you’re a writer, a reader, or know one of those two types of people, check out the auction here. There are nearly a thousand items to bid on (including a copy of In the Heart of the Linden Wood!) All proceeds raised go to relief efforts in Maui.
The initial goal for the auction was $25,000, and people’s generosity raised well over that on the first day of the auction alone. Now the goal is $100,000, and you can help get it there! If you’re a book lover, there are plenty of amazing items to bid on. If you’re not a writer but know and love one, bid on one of the editing/query packages as a gift for that person. Trust me when I say that they’ll thank you a thousand times over! Again, click here for the auction info.
Have a great week, readers!

Book review now up!
Hello, Write Edge readers, and happy Wednesday! I have a brand new book review for you. Today I’m sharing my thoughts on The Never-Ending End of the World by science fiction/dystopian author Ann Christy. Here’s the opening to my post:
After a cataclysmic event where time freezes, a woman must learn how to continue living. As she starts exploring, she realizes there are others who have also survived but who may not have the same ultimate goal she does: to make everything right again. Science fiction author Ann Christy introduces a fascinating concept that is mostly successful in her compelling new book The Never-Ending End of the World.

Midway through August…
Hello, Write Edge readers! We’re almost exactly midway through August, and here in the Midwest the kids will be going back to school this week. I can’t believe summer vacation is officially over for them!
It’s a regular full week around here, and it starts with today’s short writing. Here’s an excerpt of what I wrote for this week’s Workshop entry:
A life full of regrets that is still life still has time. Time to turn those regrets around. Time to turn them into experiences well lived.

This past week on Instagram I did my #bookreviewpreview of what I’m reviewing this Wednesday. Come back in the middle of the week to find out what I thought of The Never-Ending End of the World by Ann Christy. Check that out on The Write Edge Bookshelf!
