In the middle of June
Hello, Write Edge readers. We’re heading into the middle of June. Can you believe this year is pretty much half over?
This week we go back to regular posts. First is this week’s short fiction. It’s the second Monday of the month, which means a short story in second person. Here’s a quick excerpt for you:
… Yes, I’m so sorry, I keep getting sidetracked. For the last five years, we’ve had cases of people coming to our town and then…disappearing. Not because anything untoward has happened, you understand. We’re a small town where everyone knows everyone else, and we look out for our own.
Read the whole story now on The Write Edge Writing Workshop!
This week I’m going to share my thoughts on the new release On Earth as it is on Television by Emily Jane. Check out my review on Wednesday on The Write Edge Bookshelf!
Finally, we go back to Instagram. I’ll have fun posts for you from my writing and non-writing routines. Check out previous posts with my handle, @EktaRGarg, or on my Facebook author page.
Also, in case you haven’t heard, The Truth About Elves has won Best Novella in the 2023 Next Generation Indie Book Awards! Find out what the judges of the competition had to say about this holiday story for grownups about a man who works part-time for Santa as an elf. Read their remarks and order your own autographed copy now on my author website!
Have a wonderful week, readers, and tell someone you love them this week.

A single Instagram post today
Hello, Write Edge readers. Out of respect for my family and the death of my aunt this week, I’ve posted a single picture on Instagram to commemorate the amazing woman we lost. I’ll go back to regular Instagram posting next week.
Hug your loved ones. Tell them you care for them. Don’t put it off. Life is too short.

Book review now up
Hello, Write Edge readers. I’ve posted my latest book review for you. Today you get to find out what I thought of The Second Ending by Michelle Hoffman. Here’s the opening to my post:
Two music prodigies facing personal crises agree to compete on a new reality TV show focused on dueling pianos. As they each get ready to go on the show, they realize the only way their talents can really shine is if they deal with their darkest fears. Author Michelle Hoffman offers readers a deeper look at the music performance world in the somewhat successful book The Second Ending.

Have a great rest of the day, readers, and remember to hug your loved ones and tell them you love them

Some good, some sad, but we move on
Hello, Write Edge readers. My day started with the sad news of the death of a beloved person in my extended family. This part of “growing up,” I think, is the hardest: losing those who we loved and who loved us so much. But we have to move on; life and the day don’t give us many choices beyond that.
To that end, today’s entry for the Workshop is for my late aunt and the others I’ve lost in recent times. It’s the first Monday of the month, so that means haiku and I wrote today’s poem with great care and intention. Find it now on The Write Edge Writing Workshop.
One of the things that helps a little is to keep moving forward with routine things. That includes the schedule here on the blog. To that end, this Wednesday I’ll share my review of the new novel The Second Ending by Michelle Hoffman. Come back in the middle of the week to get the full scoop on what I thought of the book.
At the end of the week, it’s back to Instagram and bits and pieces of my writing and non-writing life. Find previous posts on Insta with my handle, @EktaRGarg, or by visiting my Facebook author page.
I did get one piece of good news this weekend. Reader Views has given In the Heart of the Linden Wood a five-star review. Read it here to see what reviewer Michaela Gordoni had to say about the book. If you haven’t ordered your autographed copy of this fairy tale for grownups now, go to my author website to do just that.
Thank you, as always, for your support, readers. It means the world to me, especially in troubled times. Also, hug your loved ones. Call them. Tell them you care. You never know when that opportunity will be gone forever.

Hello, Write Edge readers! I’ve posted my latest book review for you. Today I share my thoughts on Drowning: The Rescue of Flight 1421 by T.J. Newman. Here’s the opening to my post:
When a flight crashes into the ocean and sinks with passengers still inside, the rescue team above water as well as those in the plane will have to work together to try to save everyone. With time and oxygen running out, all involved will find their relationships and willpower tested beyond their personal breaking points. Author T.J. Newman comes back with her second thriller that outdoes her first book for a summer blockbuster in Drowning: The Rescue of Flight 1421.

Happy Memorial Day!
Hello, Write Edge readers! First and foremost, a happy Memorial Day to all of you. For those whose family members have served, thank you. Thank you for letting your loved ones give their all to our country, and thank you for your support of them. Our country is free because of your sacrifices.
I’m spending time with my own loved ones today, so I won’t be posting anything on The Workshop. On Wednesday, though, keep an eye out for my review of T.J. Newman’s latest thriller Drowning: The Rescue of Flight 1421. I’ll do my best to post to Instagram on Friday as well.
By the way, in case you haven’t heard, The Truth About Elves has won Best Novella in the 2023 Next Generation Indie Book Awards! New book review now up!
Hello, Write Edge readers! I’ve posted my latest book review for you. Today I share my thoughts on The Devil You Know by Chris Hauty. This is the fourth book in the Hayley Chill series about the fearless deeper state operative. Here’s the opening to my post:
When a Supreme Court justice is murdered and a second one threatened, a covert operative is sent to protect the justice who is still alive. As the operative deals with her own challenges, however, she’ll be pushed to her limits both physically and emotionally, all while trying to prove to herself that she still has what it takes to serve her country. Author Chris Hauty brings back fearless agent Hayley Chill in the fourth book in the series with a plot that is streamlined and delivers on every single front in The Devil You Know.
