Latest book review now up!
Good evening, Write Edge readers! I’m sharing my latest book review. Today I offer my thoughts on the Holocaust memoir Cold Crematorium by József Debreczeni . Here’s the opening to my review:
Despite all signs pointing to defeat, in 1944 the Nazis continued to send people in droves to concentration camps. A Hungarian man ends up in Dörnhau where even the Nazis don’t dare to linger, because it’s essentially death in a building. Available for the first time in English, more than 70 years after its original publication, József Debreczeni shares the harrowing, stark account of what it’s like to be left to perish at the edge of the Nazi world in his memoir Cold Crematorium.

The chilly weather continues…
Hello, Write Edge readers. We’ve got temps in the negative numbers these days, and yet I’m counting my blessings. The news has shown us other places where people have been snowed in or cities where snow is a rare occurrence and they’re worried about the grid not being able to support their residents. We’re definitely fortunate and blessed not to have to worry about those things tonight.
I’ve written my next installment in my year-long haiku project. I can say definitively that this is a creative nonfiction project, and I’m writing it based on where I am in my life on the day I create these poems. So I’m really curious to see where it all ends up at the end of 2024. Read the latest installment now on The Write Edge Writing Workshop.
Last Friday I showed you my #bookreviewpreview. This week I’ll share my thoughts on Cold Crematorium, the memoir by Holocaust survivor Jozsef Debreczeni. I’ll also share a little bit of the story behind the story. Check that out on Wednesday on The Write Edge Bookshelf.
Finally, on Friday, it’s back to Instagram and more bits and pieces of my life, both writing and otherwise. If you’ve missed previous posts, you can check them out on the app with my handle, @EktaRGarg, or on my Facebook author page.
And, before I close tonight, I’d like to remind everyone about the cool giveaway that LitRing is doing on behalf of indie authors. It’s for you sci-fi/fantasy fans and is called Close Encounters of the Bookish Kind. Check out details now and enter to win an Amazon gift card!
Last and most importantly, tell a loved one you care about them. Life is too short not to.

A chilly January Monday…
Hello, Write Edge readers! As I write this, I hear the pattering of snow showers against my window here in the writing studio. It’s definitely quite the writing mood!
I committed to doing a year-long haiku project on The Write Edge Writing Workshop in 2024. More and more, I feel like the compression of this particular genre keeps me on my toes and I’m relishing the challenge. I’ll never be a master at it, but I enjoy figuring out what I want to say — or keep to myself — in such a short form. Read the second stanza of my poem now on The Write Edge Writing Workshop.
Last week I shared my newest #bookreviewpreview. On Wednesday I’ll offer my thoughts on Dungeons and Drama by Kristy Boyce. Find out what I thought of the YA novel in two days on The Write Edge Bookshelf.
Finally, on Friday, I go back to Instagram and bits and pieces of my life from writing and non-writing pursuits. Check out previous posts with my handle, @EktaRGarg, on the app or go to my Facebook author page.
As always, readers, tell a loved one this week how much you care about them. Life is too short not to.

First review of the new year now up!
Hello, Write Edge readers. I’ve posted my first review of 2024 for you. Today I share my thoughts on That’s Not My Name by debut author Megan Lally. Here’s the opening to my post:
Two teens who are strangers find themselves caught up in two stories of missing teenagers. As they try to figure out what’s going on and how to make things right, a sense of urgency spurs both of them on to solve their mysteries before the worst happens. Debut author Megan Lally offers YA readers an enjoyable thriller with a few predictable characteristics in her new book That’s Not My Name.

Happy new year!
Happy new year, Write Edge readers! I wish you a safe, healthy, joyful 2024. Thank you for all of your support and kindness through the years. This year, more than ever I think, the blog is going to keep me going.
First, you may have seen my P.S. messages at the end of my posts in the second half of 2023, but I’ll reiterate the gist here: tell your loved ones how much they mean to you. Tell them you love them. Show them you care. Life can throw us a curve ball at any moment, and if we don’t take the opportunities we have to tell our nearest and dearest how we feel we’ll be so busy trying to catch the ball that we’ll miss those closest to us.
I’ve decided to spend this year writing haiku for my workshop exercises. I experimented with it last year and found that I enjoyed it so much I wanted to delve more into this art form. Also, I think this year will be one where this super short form of poetry will help me parse out some deeper topics. Read the first one now on The Write Edge Writing Workshop.
On Instagram last week, I shared my #bookreviewpreview of this week’s new release. This Wednesday I’ll offer my thoughts on That’s Not My Name by Megan Lally. Come back for that in the middle of the week on The Write Edge Bookshelf.
Finally, on Friday, it’s back to Instagram for new posts for what I’m reading and writing as well as other things. And I’m excited to announce the return of two more Write Edge features: Biblio Breakdown, my book podcast, and Thursday R.E.A.D.s where I analyze a book as a Reviewer, Editor, Author, and Dreamer. Be on the lookout for the first R.E.A.D.s of 2024 in February.
Once again, I wish you all the best and brightest of 2024, readers. Thank you for staying with me on this journey. Here’s to another year of it!
