Book review now up

Good evening, Write Edge readers. I’ve posted my latest book review for you. This past week I shared in my #bookreviewpreview that I was reading Looking for Smoke by K. A. Cobell. Here’s the opening to my post:

When a teen on a Montana reservation is murdered, the police focus their attention on the four young people who were the last to see her. As the remaining teenagers fight against the accusations, they must also contend with the reality of the number of Indigenous women who go missing. Author K. A. Cobell leans into her own cultural heritage for her debut that spends a little too much time on the feelings of the characters and not enough time on the mystery in Looking for Smoke.

Read the whole review now on The Write Edge Bookshelf.

Have a good night, readers, and don’t forget to tell a loved one you care about them. Life is too short not to.

Halfway through the year…

Hello, Write Edge readers. Because I’m still away from my desk, I’ll make this short and sweet.

I can’t believe we’re halfway through the year. It’s June. For those of you on summer break/vacation, please stay safe and hydrated. And make memories with those you love. Those are the most crucial, precious moments of all.

I’ve posted this week’s haiku for you, so you can check it out now on The Write Edge Writing Workshop.

On Friday I shared what I’m reading in my #bookreviewpreview. Find out what I thought of Looking for Smoke by K.A. Cobell this Wednesday on The Write Edge Bookshelf. And on Friday it’s back to Instagram and musings from my writing/nonwriting lives.

Have a great week, readers, and tell a loved one you care about them. Life is too short not to.

A three-in-one kind of day…

Hello, Write Edge readers. I’m still away from my desk, so this is going to be short but sweet. First, it’s the fifth Friday of the month; that means a brand new episode from my writing podcast, Biblio Breakdown. I’m taking you through the absurd to reach the universal within the context of On Earth As It Is on Television by Emily Jane. Check out the latest episode here, and listen to previous episodes too on my author website.

I didn’t get a chance to share my book review from this week on Wednesday, but I finished reading If Something Happens to Me by veteran thriller writer Alex Finlay. Here’s the opening to my review:

A law student fighting with the memories of a traumatic event runs into someone connected to his past while on vacation. The encounter sends the student running for his life, all while he’s trying to clear his name. Author Alex Finlay returns with a fun thriller that gets a little too intricate in the mostly enjoyable book If Something Happens to Me.

Read the whole review now on The Write Edge Bookshelf.

Finally, check out what I’m up to on Instagram. You can see what I’m reading next in my #bookreviewpreview and see a few vacation pics too. Find me on the app with my handle, @EktaRGarg, or on my Facebook author page.

Have a great weekend, readers, and remember to tell someone this week that you love them. Life is too short not to.

The last week of May…

Good evening, Write Edge readers. As I mentioned last week, I’m traveling and won’t be able to write really long posts for you. However, I do want to continue sharing my regular content. First up is this month’s writers’ showcase. You can check out what stories/articles caught my eye in May by going now to The Write Edge Writing Workshop.

Last week, I shared what I’m currently reading in my #bookreviewpreview. On Wednesday I’ll let you know what I thought of If Anything Happens to Me by Alex Finlay. Catch that review on The Write Edge Bookshelf.

Finally, on Friday, it’s back to Instagram. I’ll share a few of my travel photos. It’s also the fifth Friday of the month, which means a new Biblio Breakdown. If you’ve ever wondered how to take an absurd idea and make it completely relatable, listen to this Friday’s episode based on On Earth As It Is on Television by Emily Jane.

Have a great week, readers, and tell someone you love them this week. Life is too short not to.

Book review now up

Good evening, Write Edge readers. I’ve posted my latest book review for you. Find out what I thought about Better Left Unsent by Lia Louis. Here’s the opening to my post:

When the draft emails a woman uses to vent all her complaints accidentally get sent to everyone, she must deal with the fallout of her most secret thoughts and wishes becoming public knowledge. As she circles back through everyone who was affected by her emails, she comes to some important realizations about herself and what she wants from life. Author Lia Louis takes readers on a mostly humorous journey where the stakes feel fairly low in her newest book, Better Left Unsent.

Read the whole review now on The Write Edge Bookshelf.

Have a good night, readers, and remember to tell a loved one you care about them. Life is too short not to.
