Book review posted

Hello, Write Edge readers. I’ve posted my latest book review for you. Today I’m sharing my thoughts on The Wedding People by Alison Espach. Here’s the opening to my review:

A woman who plans to kill herself changes her mind when she accidentally gets swept into a destination wedding and all the people involved in it. As the woman finds herself interacting with the bridge, groom, and others over and over again, she realizes that maybe life is worth living after all. Author Alison Espach brings humor and heft to a serious topic in her latest book The Wedding People.

Read the whole post now on The Write Edge Bookshelf.

Have a great day, readers, and don’t forget to tell a loved one you care about them. Life is too short not to.

The last few days of July…

Hello, Write Edge readers. Here we are, at the last few days of July. Many of us in the U.S. have started thinking about school again — back-to-school shopping lists, clothes, etc. Around our house, we’ll be sending one off to college and helping the other prep for the second half of high school when she starts her junior year in a few short weeks. It’s so true when they say time flies…

It’s the last Monday of the month, which means my monthly writers’ showcase. I love sharing writing from other people with you. Their work always leaves me astonished and wanting to be a better writer myself. Check out what caught my eye in July by going now to The Write Edge Writing Workshop.

Last week on Instagram I shared what I #amreading in my #bookreviewpreview for this week’s review. On Wednesday you’ll find out what I thought of The Wedding People by Alison Espach. Check out my review on The Write Edge Bookshelf in the middle of the week.

It’s also a month for a new Thursday R.E.A.D.s. This month I’ll take a deeper dive into The Dream Home by British author T.M. Logan, a book that still has me thinking long after I’ve finished it. You’ll get the first installment — what I thought of the book as a Reviewer — this Thursday.

And, of course, it’s back to Instagram on Friday. I’m going on a short getaway with the family to one of my most favorite places, so I can’t wait to share those posts with you. Find previous posts on the app with my handle, @EktaRGarg or on my Facebook author page.

Have a great week, readers, and don’t forget to tell a loved one you care about them. Life is too short not to.

Book review now up

Hello, Write Edge readers. I’ve posted my latest book review for you. Last week I shared what I #amreading in my #bookreviewpreview. Today you get my thoughts on The Faculty Lounge by Jennifer Mathieu. Here’s the opening to my post:

A substitute teacher dies at the school where he’s working, setting off a year of reflections and recollections by the other teachers and staff. As they deal with their feelings, they must continue to battle the day-to-day life of working in an American public high school. Author Jennifer Mathieu offers warm fuzziness in a book that ultimately feels more like a collection of short stories in her new novel The Faculty Lounge.

Read the whole review now on The Write Edge Bookshelf.

Have a great day, readers, and remember to tell a loved one this week that you love them. Life is too short not to.

The last full week of July…

Hello, Write Edge readers. It’s the last full week of July, and I’m sitting here in my quiet writing studio looking at the shaded window and how the sunlight hits it. Even though it’s hard to come in here every day and face the reality of my father being gone, I’m also grateful for every day that I do have to come in here and work on my art.

Speaking of Dad and art, I’ve posted my latest haiku for you in my #yearlonghaikuproject. Today I broke the rules a little. Haiku are typically one-stanza poems, but what I felt really needed two stanzas. I still followed the forms of the traditional poetry style, though, so I figured it’s okay to go my own way with this one. Check it out now on The Write Edge Writing Workshop.

Last week I shared what I #amreading in my #bookreviewpreview. On Wednesday you’ll find out what I thought of The Faculty Lounge by Jennifer Mathieu. Come back for that on The Write Edge Bookshelf.

Finally, it’s back to Instagram on Friday and a few bits and pieces from my writing sessions and non-writing times. Look for previous posts by finding me on the app with my handle, @EktaRGarg, or go to my Facebook author page.

Have a great week, readers, and don’t forget to tell a loved one this week you care about them. Life is too short not to.

Halfway through the year…

Hello, Write Edge readers. We’re halfway through the month of July and more than halfway through the year. It’s going by fast and slow all at the same time; does anyone else feel that way?

It’s Monday, which means my latest haiku in my #yearlonghaikuproject. Check it out now on The Write Edge Writing Workshop.

Last week I shared what I #amreading in my #bookreviewpreview. On Wednesday I’ll let you know what I thought of Shades of Mercy, the second book in the Porter Beck series by Bruce Borgos. Come back in the middle of the week for that review on The Write Edge Bookshelf.

Finally, we end the week on Instagram yet again. Want to know what I’m up to this week in my writing/non-writing hours? Look up previous posts on Instagram with my handle, @EktaRGarg, or go to my Facebook author page, and then come back on Friday for the latest.

Have a great week, readers, and don’t forget to tell a loved one you care about them. Life is too short not to.

Book review now up!

Good morning, Write Edge readers. After an incredibly rainy day yesterday, we get to see some sun. It was a good day for reading and writing, however, and that means I get to share with my this week’s review. Last week in my #bookreviewpreview, I revealed that I was reading Lenny Marks Gets Away With Murder by debut author Kerryn Mayne. Here’s the opening to my review:

A teacher with a traumatic past gets a letter that causes memories of her hardships to crash into her present. As she tries to juggle her current life with what she’s endured, she’s forced to accept help from unlikely places and people. Author Kerryn Mayne offers readers a heartbreaking story in a tried-but-true premise for her debut novel, Lenny Marks Gets Away With Murder.

Read the whole review now on The Write Edge Bookshelf!

Have a wonderful day, readers, and don’t forget to tell a loved one you care about them. Life is too short not to.

The quiet days of summer…

Hello, Write Edge readers. For those of you in the Northern Hemisphere, I hope the summer vacation is one full of good memories, lots of hydration, and fun adventures (no matter what form they take.) We got our travel out of the way early in the summer, which means we’re spending our time enjoying the lovely Central Illinois weather and I get a regular schedule for writing, editing, and more.

I’m working on a new book, so having a routine every day is incredibly conducive to regular writing. Don’t get me wrong, I love a travel adventure as much as the next person. They’re absolutely perfect for catching up on reading. Writing, however, becomes a little more of a challenge, so that’s why I don’t mind being at home for the summer so much.

It’s Monday, which means my latest haiku in my #yearlonghaikuproject. I’ve come to appreciate this concise poetry form so much in these last several weeks. It’s a challenge but a fun one, and I think doing something so far out of my normal scope of writing makes me a better scribe all the way around. Check out my new poetry now on The Write Edge Writing Workshop.

Last week I shared in my #bookreviewpreview what I’m reading for this Wednesday. In the middle of the week, you’ll get to see what I thought of Lenny Marks Gets Away With Murder by Kerryn Mayne. Find that review on The Write Edge Bookshelf on Wednesday.

Finally, it’s back to Instagram on Friday. Want to know what I’m up to my in writing and non-writing lives? Check out previous posts with my handle, @EktaRGarg, or by going to my Facebook author page.

Thank you for your continued support and confidence in me, readers. It makes posting every week such a pleasure and a privilege. For that, if nothing else, don’t forget to tell a loved one you care about them. Life is too short not to.

Have a great week,

E.R.G.
