Book review now up!

Happy Wednesday, Write Edge readers. I’ve posted my latest book review for you. Today I share my thoughts on By Any Other Name by veteran author Jodi Picoult. Here’s the opening to my post:

A failed playwright discovers she’s related to the 16th-century woman rumored to be the real talent behind Shakespeare’s work. The playwright decides to pay homage to the woman to work out her insecurities about her place in modern theater. Author Jodi Picoult turns out a surprisingly disappointing novel in her newest book, By Any Other Name.

Read the whole review now on The Write Edge Bookshelf.

Have a great rest of the day, readers, and remember to tell a loved one you care about them. Life is too short not to.

A week of change…

Good evening, Write Edge readers. This is going to be a week of change as we send off our first-born to college. Avid readers of my old parenting blog, Growth Chart, will remember all the times I agonized over the kids, delighted in them, and wondered whether I was getting anything right. The answer to that last one is, “At least some of the time.”

I have a lot of thoughts on that subject, but I think I’ll share them in a longer post later. For now, I’m moving ahead with the regular schedule on the blog. That includes tonight’s haiku, which you can read now on The Write Edge Writing Workshop.

This past Friday on Instagram, I shared what I #amreading in my #bookreviewpreview. This week you’ll find out what I thought of By Any Other Name by veteran author Jodi Picoult. Find that review on The Write Edge Bookshelf on Wednesday.

On Thursday, I go back to this quarter’s Thursday R.E.A.D.s for the final installment. Check out my thoughts on The Dream Home by T.M. Logan as a Dreamer of stories and books. That goes up on The Write Edge Bookshelf.

Finally, it’s back on Instagram on Friday where you get to see bits and pieces of my writing and non-writing endeavors for the week. Missed previous reviews? Check them out now on Instagram with my handle, @EktaRGarg, or on my Facebook author page.

Have a great week, readers, and remember to tell a loved one you care about them. Life is too short not to.

Book review and haiku for you (see, I’m a poet now :D)

Good evening, Write Edge readers. Yes, yes, I know the headline is corny. It’s creeping toward my bedtime, and I’m a little punchy today. So I’ll make this quick so I can spare you more bad poetry (well, that is, until you read my latest haiku :D.)

Yes, the newest installment in my year-long poetry project is now up. Check it out on The Write Edge Writing Workshop. Also, last week I shared that I #amreading Worst Case Scenario by T.J. Newman. My review of the book is now up. Here’s the opening to my post:

A plane crashes into a nuclear power plant in a small town, leaving the community scrambling to protect themselves and save each other. As the complications from the accident multiply, the residents of the town must find it within themselves to keep fighting for the sake of the country and, potentially, the world. Author T.J. Newman brings even more heart, more thrills, and more careful detailing in her latest thrilling novel, Worst Case Scenario.

Read the whole review now The Write Edge Bookshelf.

Tomorrow I’ll be back with the third installment of Thursday R.E.A.D.s. Until then, sleep tight, readers, and don’t forget to tell a loved one you care about them. Life is too short not to.

Book review now up!

Hello, Write Edge readers. Last week I shared in my #bookreviewpreview what I #amreading. I just posted my review for you of Silent Sister by Megan Davidhizar. Here’s the opening to my review:

A teen wakes up in the hospital only to discover that she has no memory of how she got there. Worse, her sister is missing, and circumstances throw the teen in a suspicious light. As she works to remember what happened, she begins to realize that the worst is yet to come. Author Megan Davidhizar puts in a valiant effort to write a clean YA mystery but misses the mark by a wide margin in her debut Silent Sister.

Read the whole review now on The Write Edge Bookshelf.

Have a great week, readers, and don’t forget to tell a loved one you care about them. Life is too short not to.

Hello, August

Good evening, Write Edge readers. It’s the first full week of August, and I’m wondering where the year has gone while also wondering how days can be so long. It’s a funny phenomena of life, isn’t it? “The days are long, but the years are short,” the saying goes, and I’m finding that to be truer and truer the older I get.

Today’s been a day full of lots of bits and pieces of various parts of my life, both writing and non-writing related, so today’s haiku also reflects that. Ultimately it was a good day, especially because there were a couple of tasks that I started while holding my breath and then exhaled at how easy they eventually were. Check it out now on The Write Edge Writing Workshop.

Last week I shared what I #amreading in my #bookreviewpreview. This Wednesday you’ll get to find out what I thought of Silent Sister by debut author Megan Davidhizar. The review goes up on The Write Edge Bookshelf in the middle of the week.

On Thursday, I go back to the Bookshelf with my second installment of this quarter’s Thursday R.E.A.D.s. Last week I told you what I thought of The Dream Home by T.M. Logan as a Reviewer. This week I’ll do deeper into what I thought of it as an Editor.

Finally, it’s back to Instagram on Friday. You’ll get a few glimpses into my life as a writer and a non-writer. Missed previous posts? Check them out now on the app with my handle, @EktaRGarg.

Have a great week, readers, and don’t forget to tell a loved one you care about them. Life is too short not to.

First Thursday R.E.A.D.s post now up

Hello, Write Edge readers! It’s a rainy, gloomy day here in Central Illinois — the perfect weather to curl up with a good book. This month I’m doing a deep dive into a novel that is suited to today’s weather. It’s the domestic thriller The Dream Home by T.M. Logan. Find out what I thought of the book as a Reviewer in today’s Thursday R.E.A.D.s post on The Write Edge Bookshelf.

Have a great day, readers, and remember to tell a loved one you care about them. Life is too short not to.
