December chills and lovely words

Hello, Write Edge readers! It’s been a chilly start to December here in Central Illinois. We got a little bit of a break in the weather, just long enough to take a deep breath before plunging back into that icy pool known as winter.

In the meantime, though, I’m working on my third book and am pleased at how it’s coming together. Other writers, I know, can identify with the thrill that comes when words come together in lovely, meaningful ways. That’s what’s happening for me as I put together my third work, and my first short story collection, tentatively titled The Witch’s Apprentice and Other Stories. No release date yet, but I’m looking forward to all of it in the new year: the release date, the cover design, and having a new work to share with readers.

Although I haven’t been able to do so with as much regularity as I like, it’s also important to me to keep blogging. Some weeks it works out; some weeks it doesn’t. Every week the intention is there, and I’m pleased that this week the writing has come together too.

I’ve posted my latest short fiction for you on The Write Edge Writing Workshop. It’s a piece of micro fiction, so no sneak peek here. I would, however, encourage you to go to The Write Edge Writing Workshop now and read it.

Last week on Instagram I shared what I #amreading in my #bookreviewpreview. This Wednesday you’ll get to find out what I thought of Dust by Alison Stine. Come back for that in the middle of the week on The Write Edge Bookshelf.

Finally, on Friday, it’s back to Instagram shenanigans and bits and pieces of my writing and non-writing activities. Find previous posts with my handle, @EktaRGarg, or go to my Facebook author page to see them.

Have a wonderful week, readers, and don’t forget to tell a loved one you care about them. Life is too short not to.

Short story review now up!

Good evening, Write Edge readers! I’ve posted my latest review for you. In a small departure, today I’m reviewing the short story “The Answer Is No” by Fredrik Backman. Here’s the opening to my post:

A man finds his best-laid plans completely ruined when his neighbors insist on interrupting his routine. As he inadvertently gets involved with the apartment building’s latest issue, he wonders time and again why he bothers with humankind in the first place. Veteran author Fredrik Backman brings his masterful storytelling technique to this special short story for Amazon in “The Answer Is No.”

Have a good night, readers, and remember to tell a loved one you care about them. Life is too short not to.

Into December we go

Good evening, Write Edge readers. For those of you in the U.S., I hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving. Mine was busy with two holiday markets on either end of the week. The good news? I sold nearly 50 copies of my books! The bad news? I couldn’t post here on the blog at all. But I’m back now and will do a combination of making up for last week and posting new content.

First, the new. I just posted a brand new piece of micro fiction. In a slight departure from how I normally do things, this evening I used a photo prompt. Check it out now on The Write Edge Writing Workshop!

In the middle of the week, I’ll share my review of The Answer Is No, the newest short story available from the fantastic Fredrik Backman. Come back on Wednesday to read what it’s about and what I thought about it. You’ll find the review on The Write Edge Bookshelf.

On Thursday, I’ll go back to The Bookshelf to finish out this quarter’s Thursday R.E.A.D.s. I’ve been doing a deep dive into Made for You by Jenna Satterthwaite, and this week you’ll find out what I thought of the book as a Dreamer.

At the end of the week, it’s back to Instagram and all my writing and non-writing shenanigans. Missed previous posts? Check them out now on the app with my handle, @EktaRGarg, or on my Facebook author page. New posts will go up on Friday.

Finally, I’m part of a cool author giveaway through LitRing. If you love reading and are grateful for authors who create the incredible fictional worlds, here’s a chance for you to find a new writer to love! Go now to the LitRing giveaway to discover more authors and to get your shot at winning a $50 Amazon gift card.

Have a great week, readers!

Book review now up!

Hello, Write Edge readers. Once again my Monday got away from me. Does anyone have a time travel machine so I can go back and get it?

In any case, last Friday in my #bookreviewpreview I shared that I #amreading eMortal by Steve Schafer. Here’s the opening to my post on this YA sci-fi novel:

A brilliant high schooler creates what seems to be the world’s first sentient AI. As she interacts on a more meaningful level with her creation, however, she begins questioning everything she knows from her morality to her relationships. Author Steve Schafer uses his careful, detailed approach toward a story that comes straight from current times in his excellent second novel eMortal.

Read the whole review now on The Write Edge Bookshelf.

Have a good night, readers, and don’t forget to tell a loved one you care about them. Life is too short not to.

New Insta posts now up!

Hello, Write Edge readers! We got to see the sun today in Central Illinois after a couple of days of dark and gloom, and it was definitely a mood lifter. Check them out now on the app with my handle, @EktaRGarg, or on my Facebook author page.

Have a great weekend, readers, and remember to tell a loved one you care about them. Life is too short not to.
