Book review now up!
Hello, Write Edge readers, and happy Wednesday. Last week in my #bookreviewpreview, I shared what I was reading. Today I’ve posted my thoughts on The Night Ends with Fire by K.X. Song. Here’s the opening to my post:
A young woman pretends to be a man to take her father’s place in the army. As war becomes imminent, the woman must navigate intense training, a growing attraction to another soldier, and keeping her identity a secret. Author K.X. Song’s adult fantasy debut, inspired by the Chinese legend of Mulan, begins with a great deal of excitement but then slows down in The Night Ends with Fire.

Into July we go…
Hello, Write Edge readers. It’s officially the start of the second half of the year, getting into the middle of summer, and here I am working on a new book (!!) and enjoying a more laid-back schedule in life before the hectic days of school start again.
Yes, I’m working on a new book, but I’m also keeping up with my regular writing. Today is Monday, which means my weekly haiku. Go now to The Write Edge Writing Workshop to read the latest poem in my year-long poetry project.
On Friday I shared in my #bookreviewpreview what I #amreading for this week’s review. In the middle of the week, you’ll get to hear what I thought of The Night Ends with Fire by K.X. Song. Check out my thoughts on this retelling of the story of Mulan on Wednesday on The Write Edge Bookshelf.
Finally, at the end of the week I go back to everyone’s favorite photo app and give you a peek into my writing/non-writing days. Missed previous posts? Find me on Instagram with my handle, @EktaRGarg, or on my Facebook author page.
Have a great week, readers, and don’t forget to tell a loved one how much you care about them. Life is too short not to.

New book review now up
Hello, Write Edge readers. Last week on my #bookreviewpreview, I shared what I was reading. Today I offer my thoughts on Love Letters to a Serial Killer by Tasha Coryell. Here’s the opening to my post:
A woman becomes obsessed with an accused murderer and begins writing him letters, only to fall in love with him. As they become pen pals and then lovers, the woman must decide whether she believes in his self-pronounced innocence and that he won’t try to kill her next. Author Tasha Coryell crafts a compelling narrative with an unlikeable protagonist and a paper-thin plot in her debut novel Love Letters to a Serial Killer.

Last week of June…
Good evening, Write Edge readers. It’s the last week of June, and that means the first third of summer is nearly done. That also means we’re almost at the halfway mark of the year. Who knew a year, even one spent in grief, could go by so fast?
It’s the last Monday of the month, which means my monthly writers’ showcase. I have a long short story, some poetry, and some funnies to share. Find out what stories caught my attention in June by going now to The Write Edge Writing Workshop.
This past Friday I shared what I #amreading in my latest #bookreviewpreview. On Wednesday I’ll offer my thoughts on Love Letters to a Serial Killer by Tasha Coryell. You’ll see that review on The Write Edge Bookshelf.
Finally, on Friday it’s back to Instagram and bits and pieces of my writing and non-writing life. Missed previous posts on Insta? Find me on the app with my handle, @EktaRGarg, or on my Facebook author page.

Instagram posts now up!
A very late but good evening to you, Write Edge readers. It’s been a long week but an amazing one for me. I’ve spent it at Novel Bookcamp 2024 and can’t wait to jump into my latest work-in-progress (or WIP, for other writerly people.) But first, I wanted to let you know I posted this week’s book review (albeit a little late.) This week I read The Act of Disappearing by Nathan Gower. Here’s the opening to my post.
A woman receives a mysterious assignment and must follow clues through the history of a family as she struggles with her own relationship issues and the death of her mother. As the woman spends more time doing her research, she must decide what she’s going to do about a pressing dilemma of her own. Author Nathan Gower starts with a strong plot that loses some of its grip with a predictable outcome in his debut novel The Act of Disappearing.
Read the whole review now on The Write Edge Bookshelf (and either ignore the date at the top of the review or pretend it’s Wednesday today. :D)
I also have a few glimpses of my week as well as some other writing-related things up on Instagram now. Check them out with my handle, @EktaRGarg, or on my Facebook author page.
Have a wonderful weekend, readers. Stay hydrated, and remember to tell a loved one you care about them. Life is too short not to.

Halfway through June…
Hello, Write Edge readers. I’m writing this to you from a desk at a lovely retreat center. It’s quiet here; I can listen to my thoughts more closely. And ultimately I’m hoping to get help with a new book project that I can pitch to my publisher. We’ll see how all that goes.
In the meantime, I’ve posted my latest poetry for you. Check out my newest haiku now on The Write Edge Writing Workshop.
Last week I shared in my #bookreviewpreview what I’ve been reading for this week’s review. On Wednesday, find out what I thought of The Act of Disappearing by Nathan Gower. That review will go up in the middle of the week.
And on Friday, it’s back to Instagram with little snippets of my writing and non-writing life. Missed previous posts? Find them now on the app with my handle, @EktaRGarg, on my Facebook author page.

Book review now up
Hello, Write Edge readers. I’ve posted my latest book review for you. Today I’m sharing what I thought of Dad Camp by Evan S. Porter. Here’s the opening to my post:
In an act of desperation, a dad takes his surly 11-year-old daughter to a special camp in an attempt to reconnect with her. As the week progresses, the pair will discover how much they know about each other and what they have left to learn. Author Evan S. Porter shows his ease and comfort level with writing from a dad’s point of view in the mostly funny, always lighthearted book Dad Camp.
