My list of five-star books for 2023
Hello, Write Edge readers! Along with everyone else on the planet, I’m releasing my “best of” list for 2023. For me, the books I shared today are the ones that earned five stars from me in this year and the ones I consider “binge-worthy.” If you want a recap or want to know what they are, check out the list now on The Write Edge Bookshelf!

Merry Christmas, Write Edge readers!
A very Merry Christmas and happy holiday season, Write Edge readers! I wish all of you and your loved ones many good memories, lots of great food, and good health. I’m so fortunate that I get to enjoy this holiday with loved ones of my own (despite a four-hour flight delay and baggage that didn’t show up until 24 hours later!) I’m grateful, most of all, to be together with these dear family members and hope you all are blessed with the same good fortune.
I’m also so very fortunate to be a part of the amazing writing community. It’s the last Monday of the month — and the year! — and in keeping with my regular posting schedule, today I’m sharing writing from around the web that touched my heart and made me sit up and take notice. Check out those pieces on The Write Edge Writing Workshop now!
On the last Wednesday of the year, in the middle of this week, I’ll share with you the books I binged in 2023. Come back to find out what books made my five-star list. You can read previous reviews in the meantime on The Write Edge Bookshelf!
And, finally, back to Instagram on Friday for bits and pieces of my week. I won’t be doing as much writing this week, but that just means there’s room for more fun stuff. Check it out on Friday with my handle, @EktaRGarg, and go now to my Facebook author page to see previous posts.
Have a wonderful holiday week, readers!

New review now up!
Hello, Write Edge readers! I’ve posted my latest review for you. Today I share my thoughts on the upcoming release Two Dead Wives by Adele Parks. Here’s the opening to my review:
A shocking headline of a missing woman who lived a double life is made more scandalous when murder accusations start to fly. As the police try to find the killer, the people around the murder victim deal with secrets connected to her. Author Adele Parks does a remarkable job with a sequel that can also stand on its own in Two Dead Wives.

The week before Christmas!
Hello, Write Edge readers! We have two full weeks of December left, and it’s the week before Christmas — I can’t believe it! This has been a full year, and I’m looking forward to spending the last part of it with loved ones in celebration of one another.
Before that, though, we’ve got a whole week of content to get through. First up is this week’s short story. Here’s a quick excerpt for you:
Oh, and a bonus: I hate that I don’t know what happened to the other car. There was another one—one of the kids let that slip—but I have no idea who was in that car or where they are. I especially hate the thought that whoever was in it might be dead because of me.

Next, I teased this week’s book for review on Instagram on Friday in my #bookreviewpreview. This Wednesday I’ll let you know what I thought of Two Dead Wives by Adele Parks. You can find that review in the middle of the week on The Write Edge Bookshelf.
Last, it’s back to Instagram on Friday! I’ll share bits and pieces from my writing and non-writing pursuits. I’ll also tease a special Write Edge Bookshelf post — my five-star reviews for 2023! Find all of that on Instagram at the end of the week.

Book review now up!
Hello, Write Edge readers! I’ve posted my latest book review for you. Today I share my thoughts on The Last Caretaker by Jessica Strawser. Here’s the opening to my post:
A woman starts over in a new state and job after a crisis only to find herself in the middle of a mystery about the last person in her position. As she chips away at the information left behind, she realizes she’s landed in the middle of something much bigger than herself—and it might be exactly what she needs for a new life. Author Jessica Strawser has written her best novel yet in the compelling, thought-provoking book The Last Caretaker.

Is it fiction or is it not? :D
Hello, Write Edge readers! Today, as I was searching for a writing prompt for this week’s writing exercise, I came across one that made me smile. I knew, right away, that I had to make it the prompt for my story. With the holidays on us, I think a lot of people are going to be able to relate to this one. Here’s an excerpt:
Later that night, when you’re too full to eat dinner, you wonder if it was worth it after all. You can’t stomach another bite—literally. You think about how much you wish you’d stopped. “A moment on the lips, a lifetime of a gyp” is more like it.
