Goddamn random playlist

Is currently playing 'Back for good' (yes, by Take That. What of it?! Hmm?) Are fob going to be like old lovers, and every song will remind me of them?

Change will come, oh change will come

So. It seems Fall Out Boy are over. With the written proviso that maybe they're not. Maybe there'll be a reunion tour in ten years. :)

When rumours of a split last occurred I said, all flippant, that bands come and go, c'est la vie, c'est la guerre.

And that's true. Still. I never fell for a band like I did for FOB. I'm so glad I saw them play this year. Truth is the guys seem happy - at least on Twitter and whatnot. Patrick Stump's new solo album is sure to be interesting at the very least. ...

Fly By Night giveaway on Goodreads

Inspired by [info:]karenhealey  's example, I'm giving away copies of my queer crime novel Fly By Night on Goodreads.

The giveaway is open fromm Monday 1 February to people in Australia, UK, Canada and the US.

I've just realised I should have added New Zealand to that list, and will try to change that.

Anyway, if you're interested, pop along to GoodReads to register your interest! And feel free to share the link with anyone you think might also want to read about two gay musicians getting into...

OMG OMG OMG OMG PATRICK STUMP SOLO ALBUM!!!!

Well, according to this report anyway. YOU GUYS!!! I miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiss my band! But at least I can see what 3/4 of them are up to most days. But A STUMP SOLO ALBUM - YOU GUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUYS!!!!

ANd THIS!!! This gives me close up pictures of his hands, which I've always found fascinating. Plus he plays a gazillion instruments because he is a precocious musical rock dude.

Even if he does look like he's travelled back in time to become his 12 year old self. 12. Seriously....

Yana Alana and Tha Paranas

Tim has been reviewing Midsumma shows for the Age, and lucky me gets to go with him to shows! We've had an excellent festival with mostly good to great shows this year. Given that festivals in general can often be patchy, this is an excellent result.

On Wednesday we saw Yana Alana and Tha Paranas, a luscious, punchy, raunchy, wonderful cabaret! Diva, the curvalicious Yana Alana, has an incredible voice and a brilliant, waspish stage persona. Her all-woman backing band, the Paranas, are...

The Truth About Brains

The zombie story - The Truth About Brains - has been completed and submitted to the anthology that was looking for zombie stories. I haven't submitted a short story in decades. I haven't written one in that long, I think. So this will be interesting...

The Drowsy Chaperone

Tim and I went to see this show at the Arts Centre last night. It was brilliant. I laughed so hard I cried!!

For a start , Geoffrey Rush was amazing. On film, even in comic roles, he always seems to have this grim centredness to him. He's always great, but there's a kind of gravity. But as the narrator in this story he is amazingly light and warm and free, and I adore everything he does on that stage.

The idea is that he is a guy who is sharing an old vinyl record with one of his favourite stag...
