Can I stop feel anxious now? Plz?

My publisher phoned me today to say the editor was already up to chapter 10 on the first read and really enjoying it, and feels that so far I've addressed all the issues that were raised re the first version of the book. We talked about the fact that this didn't mean there wouldn't be heaps of notes and edits :) It was reassuring, though.

It's not the same without the final act

Tim and I have just watched the whole run of Extras - two seasons and the Xmas special. Several episodes had me howling with laughter all over again - notably Patrick (now Sir Patrick) Stewart and Daniel Radcliffe. Tim had to pause the Xmas special and rewind it because I laughed SO HARD at George Michael's appearance, which was made a gazillion times funnier because of Star Stories.

The Xmas special also made me cry. A lot. It was brilliant. Ricky Gervais is a better actor than I gave him cr...

Threadless

Here goes Threadless, making another T-shirt that Lissa would definitely wear.

I've also just sent Walking Shadows off to the publisher.

New review of The Opposite of Life

Paula Grunseit has posted a lovely review of The Opposite of Life. I love the quotes she's pulled for the page!

For anyone interested, I'm running a competition on my Facebook page. The prize is a copy of "Outside the Law 3".

Otherwise - I finished the edit of the new book, Walking Shadows, and will be submitting it to the publisher this week. Let's see what happens next...

The new slate

2009 ends tonight. Not a moment too soon for many people. I've had a pretty good year personally, but it's been 12 months of trauma and loss to many people I care about.

So farewell 2009. Let us ritualistically tear up the calendar and burn the dates which hurt us most. Having participated in that activity one year, I can attest there's a certain catharsis in it.

I've always liked the idea of the New Year - a psychological point in which you can underline events and choices and then start afres...

My wishes to you all for a wonderful 2010

I hope you're all having a lovely time as the year winds down. I've had an amazing year with you all, and learned so much. It's been a privelege.

Whether you are celebrating Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hanukah, or simply the fresh start offered by the New Year, I hope you find the rest you need and inspiration for the coming  year.

This piece of silliness is offered as insufficient thanks for you friendship and support throughout 2009!

The Night Before Xmas

Twas the night before Xmas and all through...

There's a uniform for them now

I've been popping home for lunch this week in an attempt to both save money and eat more healthily. I call Tim in advance and he has all the sandwich stuffs ready on my arrival. Then we sit, eat and watch something diverting on iView.

This week it has been Gavin Stamp's Orient Express. He's another of those eccentric British historians travelling the world and being either endearingly enthusiastic or endearingly underimpressed. Michael Woods is another. And Michael Palin, although he's not...
