The Continuum cha cha!
I'm off to Continuum 6, to mingle and chat and do panels and whatnot. Maybe even cha cha cha if the mood strikes me.
All you bods and Soundwave - hope you had a magnificent day! All you bods doing something else - hope it's all splendid, whatever you are up to!

Rachel Holkner interviews me about writing.
ANd I don't recall if I told anyone about this interview - I hastily wrote up some answers the day before I went on holiday, and it went online while I was away. There are some great interviews with Australian authors in this series being done as a run up to the Worldcon being held in Melbourne in September. Here's the fabulous

Hobart, Hobart, it's a wonderful town
I've been meaning to write about Hobart too. Nice little place. Calling it a city seems a bit grandiose, but simply labelling it a town doesn't seem to do it justice either.
As you may have gathered, spending a week in Hobart without the interwebs or a mobile did not, as expected, send me mad. No-one was more surprised than me to find that I didn't actually miss the constant connectivity at all. It got to the point that when a phone rang with my ringtone, I'd tense up, then relax again as I r...

Birthday girl
Damn! I knew I'd forgotten something! chameleongirl79 just reminded me I'd forgotten to put my birthday shenanigans on LJ as well as Facebook. So I'm sorry if you thought I'd neglected you on purpose. I neglected you by mistake. I'm sure that makes you feel better...
Anyway - it's my birthday next Saturday, and I thought it would be good to get together with my buddies for coffee/wine/hugs. The details are:
Date: Saturday, March 6, 2010 Time: 4:00pm - 8:00pm Location: CH2 Cafe, 240 Little...

GaryView: Blood: the Last Vampire
Gary: That wasn't what I expected.
Lissa: Well, that's because you keep expecting vampire films to accurately reflect your life.
Gary: No I don't. A film about a vampire who sits at home watching vampire films would be stupid.
Lissa: Fair point.
Gary: I mean, I didn't think Japanese cartoons were like that.
Lissa: Haven't you watched manga before?
Gary: Manga?
Lissa: That's the proper name for Japanese cartoons. I got a lecture about it from one of the kids at the library two or so years back. It wa...

Melbourne Historical - get it for your iPhone!
Tim's mystery Project X has finally been unveiled! Since December, he's been working on an iPhone app called Melbourne Historical! It's a guide to historical places in Melbourne, and has over 100 entries, from the obvious big cathedrals to weird little odd spots that even locals may not know about!
Whether you're a local, visiting Melbourne or just interested in history, it's a cool little app. TIm's worked very hard to make the text interesting and witty, and it's jam packed with photos too. ...

Plushie photo shoot
The plushies remain ridiculous and adorable and ridiculous. Especially when you get the knack of getting the recordings to play. Pete Wentz sounds by far the most comfortable with the thing, in that he has spoken like he is the doll talking to you. 'It's awesome being friends with you", and "hahahaha, good joke dude." I remember he asked what the dolls would say on his blog, and I posted that I'd love his doll to have his laugh on it, and my wish was obviously his command. I also really like ...

The Truth About Brains
I've just signed and sent in the contract for the publication of my short story, The Truth About Brains, in a Canadian anthology called 'Best New Zombie Tales'. I'm not sure which of the three volumes it will be in, yet, but you can read about it at Books of the Dead Press.
I'm particularly pleased because I ignored the part in the guidelines where it said that submissions had to be *previously published* zombie stories, declaring that it was brand new, but I was a previously published author,...

Home again, home again, jiggety jig.
Got home a few hours ago. Tim went straight to the cattery to collect Petra, and she has been stalking around the house, yowling in every room, no doubt to alert any of those other pesky cats that may be lurking that she's back in her territory now, and will deal with anyone violating her space. Either that or she's looking for the other servants.
I have lots to write about books I read and how much I did not miss having my iPhone with me. :) But later. Right now I want to upload my photos. :)
