I FEEL sLOVEnia
That's the local tourism slogan, and it's pretty accurate.
You may not believe it from my tweeting, but I really am in another country. We get free wifi for half an hour each morning, so I often post a comment or a photo while I can. The rest of the time we are blissfully unconnected, which is good when it comes to paying attention to where I am, instead of what’s going on at home.

I'm leaving on a jet plane...
Though I do know when I'll be back again. On Sunday 30 May, in fact. In the intervening four weeks, I will be exploring Slovenia and Hungary with Tim. I'll check me email from time to time and hope to keep an eye on my Flist to see how you're all doing. I've been terrible at commenting in recent weeks, but please rest assured that I do read everyone, unless your post contains Dr Who spoilers....
There have been several posts I wanted to make, which I'm now squeezing inappropriately into one po...

Multi talented family o'mine
Tim and I have heaps of talented family members. Here's Tim's brother John with his old band, The International Jewel Thieves with "You GIve My Life Love!" (You may spot the lovely Janet McLeod in the line-up, in between acts of comedy genius...)

Muppet panic!
You know how in the Muppets, when there was a collective panic, all the Muppets would run around, waving their heads back and forth in hysterics, flapping their hands in the air and doing that hoppity puppet bouncy run all over the set?
Now imagine me as one of said Muppets...
I'm not really in a panic, per se. I'm just tearing around like a maniac tryiing to get everything DONE before Tim and I fly out on Monday. Hence the lack of regular updateyness on the blog, Facebook, Twitter, email and ...

Vermillion
I popped out to the Workers' Club (formerly the Rob Roy) in Fitzroy last night, to watch Vermillion play at the JMC Academy show. (Students at the academy are assessed on their performance).
Ant was ill with a sore throat and had lost her voice on and off all day. Despite this, she managed to perform, and the wispiness that came out in Creepy Song actually worked well for the subject matter. It starts as this sweet little 'he brings me flowers every day' and you think, 'how pretty' until about...

And the links just keep on coming
George Ivanoff writes a book blog on the Boomerang Books site. Last week he blogged about vampire books and gave a nice little plug for The Opposite of Life.
This week he asked Foz Meadows (Solace and Grief) and me to tell him about our favourite vampire books.
Between Tim's app this week, his story on Fremantle in yesterday's M mag in The Age, and George flying the flag for Australian vamplit authors, the Harris-Richards household is EVERYWHERE this week.

Tim talks about his iPhone app, and urinals. (These two things are connected.)
Tim was interviewed for an article in the local Leader newspapers about his Melbourne Historical iPhone app. You can read the article here, but if you haven't met Tim and would like to know what he looks/sounds like, the paper also made this short video of him talking about the app, and specifically about the Victorian-era iron urinals which are still attached to the rear of the Rialto Tower. The urinals are now heritage listed.

Singing is not one of my especial talents
For anyone who was curious about the song The Ninja Piper which Jess and I sang for my brother/her father Richard, this is it. It was inspired by the fact that Richard plays the bagpipes and also has a blackbelt in karate and by the picture _audrey drew for me to give to him for his birthday the previous year.

Kind of ambivalent
This interview with Patrick Stump has me all equal parts excited anticipation for the new album and melancholic sadness for the definite past tense with which he talks about Fall Out Boy. I still miss how there used to be something else going on every week or two with my band. Music or shenanigans or arrests for the least rock-bad-boy behaviour in the world.
Miss my band. :(

My editor sent me this today:
"Scunthorpe, who play football in the UK, have a star player .....
Gary Hooper's hat-trick boosts Scunthorpe's hopes of staying in the Championship as they defeat Bristol City 3-0 at Glanford Park."
Which means that vampire Gary has fulfilled a lifelong ambition to not be crap at sport.
Though I'm pretty sure that using his mad vamp skillz is cheating.
