I just learned a new joke.
How do you get a web designer away from your house?
PAY FOR YOUR PIZZA!
It's funny, but it hurts.
I can't remember which comedian did the following one at the comedy festival, but I liked it.
"One day I'm going to get a tattoo of the word 'Helvetica' but I'm going to get it in Arial. When I find a woman who notices, I'm going to marry her."

TV people are stalking my brain
Tim discovered a series on ABC's iView called "Miranda", starring Miranda Hart, who played the marvellous Teale in Hyperdrive! I've seen two episodes and I adore it.
Tim wants to know why TV people are stalking me and stealing bits of my brain to make TV series designed especially, and possibly solely, for my entertainment. Castle. Being Human. Leverage. Now there's Miranda.
I'm puzzled about the phenomenon myself, but otherwise am thrilled that so many shows are basically secret bits of my...

Other things that Gary missed...
I went to see Tripod vs The Dragon the other night. It was great fun, and Elana Stone has a terrific voice! (It's on until Sunday if you're interested.)
As is my wont, I wondered how Gary and Lissa would like it. I think they'd both enjoy it, but mainly I realised that Gary would have SO been a D&D nerd, only he died in '67 and D&D wasn't created until the '70s. By the time it was huge in Australia, he was already very marginalised from the people he used to know at school and uni and wouldn't...

Hello Mr Braithwaite, I'd like to be nerdy for a bit
At the end of my flight home to Melbourne, I realised I was sitting across from Daryl Braithwaite. That won't mean much to people outside Australia, or possible to Australians under the age of 30. But to the rest of us... he's still a nice looking man! And I only realised it was him when someone else stopped and said "I always thought that lyric was 'riding on the horse's tail' - what is it really?" I didn't hear the reply, so I don't know the answer myself.
But I did get all nerdy and intro...

Out of the west
It's both kind of freeing and kind of frustrating to not have a keyboard when accessing the net. My iPhoneis pretty good but I can't write anything of length on that e-keyboard. But I have a some free time and my friend Jehni has loaned me her cute little e-book, which I covet more daily. It's so cuuuuuuuuuuuuute!
Hmm. I suspect 'it's so cute' is a purely female response to technology. I'm not saying all women do it, but I'm not sure I've ever met a guy who has ever said it. or at least will...

sharpest_rose, Gary and Lissa tweet
ltlpengy
insists that I put their conversation here. Blame her.@sharpest_rose: Hey @garyhooper44 I am going to buy these charms and make jewelry about you. <333
@garyhooper44: @sharpest_rose really? That's...sort of cool. I mean, it's really cool. I don't know *why* you'd want to do that but... It's cool! :)
@garyhooper44: @lissawilson83 hey Lissa! @sharpest_rose says she's going to make some jewellery about me with Hawaiian shirts. I don't know why.
@lissawilson83: @GaryHooper44 it's because s...

Now I'm all covetous
lizarfau
just posted about the LIterary Gift Company, and now I'm just a great big ball of WANT! Under 'Gifts for writers' I'm particularly fond of the upper case scarf, and the T-shirt which reads "Careful or you'll end up in my novel" cos, yeah, I have a tendency to put people I know into cameo roles. Sometimes as dead bodies. You've been warned.But I mustn't be greedy. I've just finished packing and I'm online sorting out a few last minute techy things before I get an early night, in orde...
