How blogging helped me get my first job

I graduated form college a few months ago, and admittedly, I’d been kind of putting off finding a job. I told my parents I’d wait until January, let the holiday craziness pass, and then I’d begin actively seek something to do with my life. Even then I knew I wanted to put as much information as possible about my blog on my resume. And it paid off, because I’m pretty sure blogging helped me get my first job.

My ultimate dream is obviously publishing my book and having multiple sources of in...

2018 Reveries – A look back at the year where I took the most chances

If I had to say if 2018 was one of my best or worse years, I’d probably lean towards one of the best. So many things have happened! It hasn’t always been comfortable, but I think that is what has made it stand out so much. I did so many new-to me stuff that put me way out of my comfort zone. Not everything went like I’d have wanted, but well, you gotta acknowledge the mistakes, and do better next time!

Reviews (November + December)

I read some awesome books during the last two months of...

Our 5 favorite books of this year

It turns out adding subtitles to videos is… slow, tedious and complicated. But of course, being me, I chose to do it with the longest video my booktube friend and I had ever recorded. In the future, I’ll try to share more of our videos on the blog. I knew I had to at least share our last video of the year, talking about 5 books that blew us away this year.

Felix and I created Saltando Paginas around June, and now we have a little over 10 videos added to our channel. We’re so proud of our...

Is Blogging Really Good for Introverts?

For a long time, people have been using blogs to express themselves in a way they can seldom do in their real lives. And this can be applied to all sorts of online interaction. For book bloggers for example, we’re able to connect with other bookworms and talk about reading.

It’s kind of perfect for introverts because we want to be heard, but we don’t always feel very comfortable speaking out. So blogging offers us a great way to bypass those pesky roadblocks that we’re hardwired to be wary...

Why we need makeup positive YA literature too

I remember when I first started reading YA books. I was having the best time of my life with all those amazing stories. But there was something a lot of them had in common. The heroines of these adventures were usually girls who were often overlooked, thought themselves to be plain and boring, and sometimes to make the difference clear, the story placed other women around them who looked ‘better’ and were more popular.

I felt overlooked when I was a teen, and well, I still often do. I feel...
