I still haven’t read these books by my favorite authors

I haven’t done Top Ten Tuesday in literally forever, but I thought it’d be nice to check back on the prompts once in a while again.

Today’s prompt sounded amazing to me since I have quite a few favorite authors, but there are books by them I haven’t read! Doesn’t that make you feel a bit like an impostor sometimes? When you love an author but haven’t read all their works? Or maybe not even more than one of their series or standalones? It makes you question if these authors are really favorite...

What makes me pick up a book

As a regular reader, all those shiny books on their shelves might be hard to resist, but still, most of us can say that we are at least a bit picky when it comes to them. Books in general aren’t cheap, so we’re justified. Time isn’t cheap either. We’re busier than ever and the time we invest in reading a book is precious.

Some people are more given to experimenting. I prefer to play it safe most of the time, and I know when a certain book is right up my alley. Of course, I also love being...

Fantasy book adaptations: Animated or Live Action?

I read all kinds of books. There are some that I haven’t tried, but I mostly gravitate towards contemporaries, historical romances, science-fiction, and yes, fantasy. The appeal isn’t difficult to understand. Fantasy worlds give us situations that while can be relatable in some way, are more often than not, larger than life. These stories are not limited by the laws of our world. They have their own rules.

Over the years, many movies have been made based on fantasy books. Some have been succe...

August Reveries – Happy Birthday Reverie Society!

Every year since 2015, my first blogoversary, I can’t help but be surprised that I’m still doing this. Not overly shocked, because I do enjoy it. Enjoyment has never been the problem. It’s everything else. That I have enjoyed this so much, enough to power through lack of energy, lack of creativy, or just plain being busy. I think that’s why we take so much pride in our little virtual spaces. The definition of labor of love.

The end of August marks 4 years of blogging for me, and I’m so gra...

Is Twitter essential for book bloggers?

Let’s talk a bit about social media in the book community. I shared before -not sure in which post- that I have grown distant from Twitter, but I’m all in with bookstagram. But it wasn’t always this way. For almost three years, from 2014 to 2017, Twitter was the platform I used to most to interact with other bookworms. If I took a break from blogging, I did it, but I never took breaks from Twitter because I felt that I would just disappear and fall so out of the loop that everyone would fo...
