Phoenix, Unraveled At Last: The Dreaded Synopsis

Yep, you heard it folks.

Phoenix Alice Dawson is the main character of the soon to come “Phoenix: Of Stars and Willows”. I took Ava Jay’s advice about writing a synopsis before even starting the first draft, and I’m glad to say I’m very excited about how this novel/novella (depends on how it behaves) will turn out.

So, here it is:

An upside down world, two races at stake, and three sacrifices to make.

Phoenix Dawson has been found guilty of murdering Wonderland’s king. And she doesn’t lift a sing...

Well, Hello There!

So, I’d been toying with the idea of getting my own domain for a while. I mean, since I’m sure I’m in the writing business for the long haul, I knew I’d eventually need it. It’s nice.

Of course, that involved a lot of begging for my dad to agree to trust in internet’s suspicious billing systems. *dun dun* Fortunately, we did some research. And here it is.

I’m not even going to tell you about my first or second attempt of a website. The third one, is pretty good. But I decided to move everything...

We All Want To Say Something

Writing is about saying something,be it a claim, a complaint, a question or a statement. We all want to be heard, and more importantly, listenedto. But how we go around doing just that? I’m afraid I’m having troubles with that myself, but that’s fine. I’m barely starting out my career as a writer and figuring stuff out is part of the process. For example, I love

Divergent,Veronica Roth, because it tells us about what true courage is about, and what it means to be selfless and sacrificing for tho...

Characters

Fleshing out characters is a tough thing, after reading tons of articles about the process, I've decided it sucks, and it's fun, at the same time.
Characters show their personalities through dialogue, how they speak is the key to their thoughts and motives. That¡s something I hadn't realized before. So I'll try to pay attention ;D

Wondering...

I've always wondered if great stories like Harry Potter, The Lux series, or the Iron Fey series, -with awesome plots- were already planned out before being written, or the plot just sorta came to to the writter along the way. Me, I stick with the "Oh, I want to write a book about people with powers, the rest I'll figure out later" way.

Starting...

First draft was crap, even I couldn't bring myself to write it any further so I let it be and abandoned it for a year or so.
One night, I couldn't sleep, I just couldn't and I was like "Crap, I need to sleep, school's in 5 hours!" I just started dreaming awake, I remembered I was actually writting a book, and that's when Foul Fairness was born!

Show not tell

Show, not tell: "Oh Damn"
The spanish version of Opal was full of telling, *facepalm* which meant: "Time to rewrite!"
If I'm excited about a particular action scene, with a lot of kicking, guns, knifes, and stuff, how can I make it exciting for the reader, and at the same time, write it at an acceptable pace? It seems that the best scenes in my book are written so fast-paced it makes it hard -even for me- to care at all about what's happening. I need to fix that.
