June 24th International Fairy Day
Put on your fairy pants, drop glitter down your cleavage and repurpose your shiv as a wand. And check that your subscription to Fae hasn’t lapsed.

Partial to a bit of fairy fucking? Try these reads: the Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa, Paranormalcy by Kiersten White, Tigerlily by Charlotte Stein, the Dark Swan series by Richelle Mead.

June 16th World Fudge Day

Soft, sweet, ooey, gooey, sugary, candied, creamy, toothsome, delicious, cloying, saccharine, luscious, lush, tempting FUDGE! There’s a whole lotta chemistry to fudge. It’s more complicated than cooking meth (from what the Lady Biest gleaned from watching people cook meth on Breaking Bad, anyway). Forming a fondant is no picnic, fudge-slingers have to bust a nut to keep vibrations and seed crystals from causing too rapid a crystallization. Controlling the crystallization of the supersaturated sugar solution is the key to smooth fudge. Suck on that.
Now roll me in fudge and throw me to the firefighters.
Fudge in romance: Promise Me Tomorrow by Leigh Micheals. (Note, the ninjas have not personally verified the awesomeness of the ‘fudge scene’ in this novel.)

June 13th is Sewing Machine Day

The first functional sewing machine was invented in 1830 by a French tailor. In response, an enraged group of French tailors burnt down his garment factory because they feared his new invention would put them out of business.
The ninjas love Sewing Machine Day, we all crowd together for a stich ‘n bitch and then we sew little decorative bags with smiley faces on them for our throwing stars. Just because you’re deadly doesn’t mean you can’t sew your own accessories.
Ninja recommendations for sewing in romance: Jennifer Chiaverini's Elm Creek Quilts series, The Cobbled Court Quilt Series by Marie Bostwick. Or (if you’re after steamier yarn action) try a M/M romance from Amy Lane’s Knitting series: A Knitter in his Natural Habitat, How to Raise an Honest Rabbit, Super Sock Man and (my favourite) The Winter Courtship Rituals of Fur-Bearing Critters.

Thunderwear!

How many times have you said, "There's got to be a better way to carry a gun concealed!" Never? Congratulations, you’re a sane person, so there’s no need for you to go out and buy a pair of Thunderwear to wear as a concealed holster.

Superhero Light Switch Plate (Sasquatch)

I’m intrigued. The thought process that led to light switches embedded in superhero crotches dazzles me. There’s a range of superheroes and villains to choose from, but I prefer Sasquatch here.

June 4th Hug Your Cat Day

Even if the little f*cker doesn’t want to be hugged. Squeeeeeeze.

June 2nd Leave the office early day

The ninjas are all in favour of this day, but you have to plan like a third-world dictator eyeing a neighbouring country for annexation to really celebrate it well, i.e. what are you going to do once you and all your friends are out of the office? Impromptu roller derby match? Go nude skydiving? Fudge wrestling practice with the local fire station lads?
Ninja recommendations for office romance: Ever Unknown by Charlotte Stein, The Best Laid Plans by Sarah Mayberry, Board Resolutions by Joey W Hill.
Do you have a favourite office romance?

May 31 is… Macaroon Day

The US celebrates the 31st of May as National Macaroon Day and the Lady Biest thinks a whole day spent thinking about the sweet, colourful, puffy, fluffy biscuits baked to perfection is a perfectly delightful idea (and Cookie-face no doubt plans to bake her brains out). Don’t be like the Lady Biest, though, and confuse Macarons with Macaroons. Let the diagram created by I do Believe I Came with a Hat guide you.
