Refuse the Pain; Praise His Name

Refuse the Pain; Praise His Name
The next time you fall for Satan’s line that “nobody loves me,” think of Leah. As beautiful as that name sounds in English, in Hebrew, it’s not so pretty. Her father, Laban, took one look at his cross-eyed daughter and named her “wild cow.” Her family treated her as such.

Laban was so convinced nobody would marry Leah, he conned a con man named Jacob into giving her his ring, despite his love for Rachel.

When Jacob realized Leah was his lawfully wedded wife instead of the love of his life, Laban cut him a two-for-the-price-of-one deal. It didn’t work out well for any of them, especially Leah. Her entire life revolved around the fact that the people who should have loved her, didn’t.

Jacob and Rachel hated her for her intrusion into their marriage. She became the “ex-wife” who never left. Leah hoped she could make her husband love her, but she was never more than a plaything for him to abuse.

The Bible records that she gave birth to three sons and a daughter, hoping her gift would cause Jacob to treat her like a real wife instead of a cheap prostitute. It didn’t. Finally, when her fourth son was born, Leah had a revelation straight from the heart of God.

“And she conceived again, and bore a son; and she said, ‘Now I will praise the Lord; therefore she called his name ‘Judah’ and stopped bearing children.” Genesis 29:35

The name Judah means “praise.” Leah stopped mourning over the lack of love from her husband. She started praising God for the love He showered on her with the blessing of five healthy children. She learned to ignore the scorn of her husband and sister to focus on someone bigger than them.

Is this you? Have you been rejected by someone who should love you but doesn’t? Today is a good day to praise the Lord. Focus on His love for you.

Which Wolf Do You Feed?

Jesus-driven thinking helps and heals. This is what the Bible has to say on the subject: For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. – Romans 8:6

The Cherokee nation knew it, too. Check out this spot-on tribal tale:

An old Cherokee chief was teaching his grandson about life. He told the boy, “A terrible fight is going on inside me. It is a fight between two wolves. One wolf is evil. He is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and self-doubt."

The old man continued: “The other wolf is good. He is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.” He then told the boy, “This same fight is going on inside you and inside every other person, too.”

The grandson thought about it for a minute, then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?” The wise old chief replied, “The one you feed.”

What wolf have you been feeding? Just know the wolf of evil thoughts will eventually devour you, and likely others as well. Thoughts become actions, and there is always collateral damage.

That’s not you! You can control your thought life and ensure the evil wolf starves to death.
et_pb_blurb"}">Refuse the Pain; Praise His Name

Fight For Future Fulfillment

August 10, 2025 – 08/10/2025
8 – New Beginnings
10 – Perfect Order
He replied, “You are permitted to understand the secrets of the Kingdom of God. But I use parables to teach the others so that the Scriptures might be fulfilled: ‘When they look, they won’t really see. When they hear, they won’t understand.’” Luke 8:10
Fight For Future Fulfillment
Your future is much greater than your history, and it’s leading to your destiny. God’s plans for you are good; to prosper you and not harm you, to give you hope and a future. Position yourself under the windows of heaven and expect to receive.

One thing you must learn on your quest for upgrade is to trust in the heart of God and in the power of His grace. Why? Because He is not prepared to punish you for mistakes made in your attempts to move forward to receive your upgrade. Anyone who tells you different doesn’t know God’s goodness!

You see, Father God doesn’t punish you when you mess up. Instead, He does what any good father does – He picks you up! God is passionate about your progression. He has a much higher value for your personal growth than for your punishment.

“I will heal their faithlessness; I will love them freely, for My anger is turned away from Israel.” Hosea 14:4

Since He made you to be a warrior, He knows if you don’t fight for upgrade, you’ll fight for things that don’t matter. He says to you the same thing He said to Joshua three different times as He was commanding him to move forward into the Promised Land: “FEAR NOT!”

When you’re afraid to move from where you are, you’ll settle for something that once was, rather than what could be. The fight for what once was (the past) is a battle for what is irrelevant and insignificant. It’s the wrong fight to be in! I like to call that the “Dragon of Religion.”

You see, religion likes to call whatever used to be a long time ago “godliness.” Not sure what I’m talking about? Think, “This is the way we’ve always done it.” Or, “God doesn’t work that way anymore.” When you keep your head stuck in the sands of the past, you will never move forward.

Which Wolf Do You Feed?

When the accusers heard this, they slipped away one by one, beginning with the oldest, until only Jesus was left in the middle of the crowd with the woman. Then Jesus stood up again and said to the woman, “Where are your accusers? Didn’t even one of them condemn you?” John 8:9 NLT

Though God doesn’t cause these things to happen – we live in this fallen world as the consequence of sin – people believe that when bad invades their life, God is getting revenge for something they did wrong.

So, what do you tell the lost, hurting, and downright angry? Simple. Tell them God is not mad at them. Through the sacrifice of Jesus, we have been reconciled to the Father. That means there is no animosity between us.

God’s not mad at anyone!

Still other seed fell on fertile soil. This seed grew and produced a crop that was a hundred times as much as had been planted!” When he had said this, he called out, “Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand.” Luke 8:8 NLT
True Power
People flock by the millions to see X-Men, Spider-Man, The Avengers, Thor, Star Wars, and The Lord of the Rings.

The reason? These movies portray people who have a leg up on everyone else around them. They have what we all want — power.

Out of the Box

August 07, 2025 – 08/07/2025
8 – New Beginnings
7 – The Spirit of God
For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will. Romans 8:7 NLT
Out of the Box
Times and seasons change. Your Father in Heaven does not. You are one with the Father, and when He says “turn here,” you won’t be left circling the mountain again.

The greatest threat to a new move of God is what you think of the last move of God. Did you embrace it so tightly you can’t move on to the new thing He is doing?

It’s not about the method of how God moves. It is about God moving, and we must be willing to follow Him forward, however or wherever He chooses.

Look at all the different ways Jesus reached the people He came into contact with. From turning water into wine to attaching the ear of Malchus back to his head. From preaching to the crowds to visiting Zacchaeus at his house. From ordering out demons, to touching lepers and spitting on dirt to make clay that would open blind eyes – Jesus didn’t do things the same way every time!

He never used a single method to bring people into the Kingdom. Each method He used was right, though none of them was the only way to solve the problem. As Jesus’ resurrection would prove, you can’t keep Jesus nailed down or in a box!

In an exclusive interview with Nicodemus, a Pharisee who had experienced the Spirit of Religion most of his life, Jesus warned this high-ranking religious authority that He uses creative methods to teach, heal, and bring people into the Kingdom.

“The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.” – John 3:8

Are you someone who has been told the spirit of religion is the only way to worship? Or that God no longer heals or works miracles? Are you realizing you have been keeping Jesus in a box and limiting His power and His love for those you don’t like? Get out of your box and follow Jesus wherever He takes you.

Are you someone who has been told the spirit of religion is the only way to worship? Or that God no longer heals or works miracles? Are you realizing you have been keeping Jesus in a box and limiting His power and His love for those you don’t like? Get out of your box and follow Jesus wherever He takes you.
Grounded in FaithDeclare!
Fill me, Holy Spirit. The desire of my heart is to follow the Lord, and I know He will lead me into new and exciting situations. I refuse to be unused; I embrace Abundant Life lived in relationship with Jesus.

Spirit to Overcome Flesh

August 06, 2025 – 08/06/2025
8 – New Beginnings
6 – The Flesh of Man
Crowds listened intently to Philip because they were eager to hear his message and see the miraculous signs he did. Acts 8:6 NLT
Spirit to Overcome Flesh
Do you know why most people won’t get out of bed on Sunday morning? Just like you and me, they enjoy their downtime. The difference is you cannot convince them their life is not their own.

It isn’t that they don’t want to be fed the Word of God or worship the Lord. They likely do. It’s just very difficult for an American to believe they are not in total ownership of their lives. They lack character because they lack covenant.

A covenant mentality says, “My job is to glorify God no matter what.” A covenant mentality says, “My life is not my own, but God’s.”

Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore, glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. – 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

A lack of a covenant mentality causes Christians to warm a pew on Sunday and then cheat someone out of money on Tuesday. It causes them to enjoy Bible study on Wednesday morning and then spend the afternoon in the gossip cauldron. You see, they don’t believe their business practices, their words, or their life in general actually belong to God.

Here’s the kicker about covenant: Covenant is the only thing that causes God to respond to you! God doesn’t respond to your needs, riches, pain, or poverty. He only responds because He created you – He owns you – and He purchased you back after you willingly became a slave to a cruel master, the devil.

Do you lack Christian character? If you do, you likely lack a covenant mentality. However, that can change! You can get into covenant. It just means changing the way you think, so your actions will begin to change.

Focus on this: Your only job on this earth is to glorify God, no matter what!

Whether you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God. – 1 Corinthians 10:31

You can control your thought life and ensure the evil wolf starves to death.
et_pb_blurb"}">Spirit to Overcome Flesh

Who Told You That?

August 05, 2025 – 08/05/2025
8 – New Beginnings
5 – The Grace of God
You simple people, use good judgment. You foolish people, show some understanding. Proverb 8:5 NLT
Who Told You That?
Once, a young woman came into my office for marriage counseling. After telling me how bad things were, she finally told me why she was really there: she was leaving her husband, and said God wanted her to do it.

I asked why, and through tear-filled eyes, she replied, “Because God doesn’t want me to have pain.” As quickly as I could, I retorted, “Who told you that?”

It was a good question because I’ll tell you who didn’t, and His name starts with a capital “J” and ends in “esus.” When we believe something that’s not true, God will challenge us by asking, “Who told you that?”

Set the clock back to the Garden of Eden. There we find two slack-jawed people with a problem. Like many young couples, they had gotten themselves into debt without a mode of payment. This was not about a credit card. This was about giving the Master charge over their lives, and the penalty for disobedience was higher than either of them could have imagined.

Genesis records the event as the greatest act of murder committed in human history: with one stroke of disobedience, Adam brought us to death before we took our first breath. No sooner was the deed done than Adam and Eve were hiding, because Daddy was going to be home soon.

Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?” So he said, “I heard your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked and I hid myself.” And he said, “Who told you that you were naked?” – Genesis 3:9-11

When God asks a question, it’s not because He lacks the answer. He asks with the intent of bringing us to a conclusion. In Adams’s case, as with the young lady in my office wanting a divorce, this question is, “Who told you that? Who are you listening to?”

When we’re forced to answer, we generally recognize the answer is “not God.” Until God forced Adam to own the answer, Adam’s healing would not begin. Do you want your healing to begin?

Which Wolf Do You Feed?

No King But God

August 04, 2025 – 08/04/2025
8 – New Beginnings
4 – Creation and Things That Are Made
They set up kings, but not by Me; They made princes, but I did not acknowledge them. From their silver and gold, they made idols for themselves— That they might be cut off. Hosea 8:4 NKJV
No King But God
It’s hard for Americans to have a kingdom mentality because we’ve never had a king. The American culture is an independent, “maverick” mentality. We celebrate the rugged individualism that won the West and changed how the world does virtually everything.

Americans feel at home completely on their own. A true American leader is not going to wait for approval from France to topple a Muslim terrorist regime. I like what Stormin’ Norman Swartzkoff said when France refused to help us in Operation Desert Storm.

“Going into war without France is like going into war without your accordion.”

Wee ha! That is a classic illustration of the true American mentality, and I love it. It says we have no respect for your little kingdom. You stay on your side of the pond, make perfume, and remain irrelevant while we change the world and make a difference. Yes, we really don’t need France because we can do it on our own.

While this kind of thinking is great for starting a business, running a farm, or winning wars, it makes for terrible theology. Individualism, self-reliance, and a maverick mentality that you don’t need anyone’s help don’t jive in relationship with Father God.

Being a Father and King, He revels in taking care of us. He enjoys supplying our needs. God loves to be needed, and you and I really need Him.

It is easier to convince an African bushman that He needs a savior than it is to bring a Texas cattleman who worked, scraped, and built his “empire” with his own muscle to King Jesus. They don’t see the point. They believe they can save themselves.

Do you know anyone like that? If that someone is you, know you do need a king. You do need a savior. While you may be able to survive, even thrive, in this world, your dependence and trust in your heavenly Father gets you into the next one.

So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy.Romans 9:16

Which Wolf Do You Feed?

Victory! – The End

August 03, 2025 – 08/03/2025

Jesus reached out and touched him. “I am willing,” he said. “Be healed!” And instantly the leprosy disappeared. Matthew 8:3 NLT
Victory! – The End
Some battles are so strategically important that the future itself hinges on that single event. San Jacinto was that kind of battle. Not only did Sam Houston’s decisive victory at San Jacinto establish Texas independence, it led to the Mexican-American War. Victory there resulted in America’s acquisition of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, California, Utah, and parts of Colorado, Wyoming, Kansas, and Oklahoma.

Yes, one-third of present-day America eventually changed sovereignty all because Houston and a handful of true Texas patriots, not even trained soldiers, dared to defeat the tyrant Santa Anna on April 21, 1836.

There’s a word of redemption in that. There is a reason people in Fort Worth, Salt Lake City, Los Angeles, and Albuquerque don’t have to live like our neighbors to the south in Matamoros, Juarez, and Tijuana. Someone paid the price for that freedom.

Jesus has given you the ability to defeat the enemy because there’s a lot more at stake here than you probably think.

Part of His Body

August 02, 2025 – 08/02/2025
8 – New Beginnings
2 – A Faithful Witness and Being Set Apart
Always remember that Jesus Christ, a descendant of King David, was raised from the dead. This is the Good News I preach. 2 Timothy 2:8 NLT
Part of His Body
It’s the Lord’s will that you find a church where you can praise Him and encourage those you worship with. This is your tribe, and they need you.

Hebrews 10:25 warns against “forsaking the assembling of yourselves together, as the manner is for some.” In other words, don’t skip out on church.

There is a growing movement of people who play the “I don’t have to go to church to be a Christian” card. While they are correct, they are also opting to be irrelevant, misinformed, and empty.

There Is No Way You Can Be Right With God And Wrong With His People!

More than that, the few of us who are joined together need you. It’s just not the same without you! Here are some scriptures to invade your soul if you are MIA – Missing in Action:

– Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.

You can control your thought life and ensure the evil wolf starves to death.
et_pb_blurb"}">Part of His Body
Romans 12:10 – Those who be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. Psalms 92:13 – Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ, we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. Romans 12:4-5 – And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the day approaching. Hebrews 10:24-25Wake up and smell the coffee! “The day” is here, so this is not the time to bail out! Get yourself into church and plugged in for good. The salvation, healing, provision, and strengthening of many depend on you!
Grounded in FaithDeclare!I was born again into the body of Christ. I stand with my tribe, pray, unite, and serve the Kingdom in the place where Jesus placed me. My life is fulfilled when I am joined with those who are joined with Jesus.
