There is no such thing as a painless victory
TODAY'S PROPHETIC WORD
Though you may have pain in your valleys, there is sunshine on the mountain. Jesus has said that He will be with you even to the end of your rope. Jesus will ease the hurt; walk in His faithfulness.
WHEN THE WALK BECOMES PAINFUL
For many years, I was pushing 400 pounds. Not quite there, but still, it was closing in.
Then, on a trip to Jerusalem with Leanna, we met a couple who pastored a church in Enid, Oklahoma. These people, it turned out, were not your ordinary pastors. He was a doctor and a college professor, and they were both gifted in the area of physical training in a way that glorifies God.
After returning home, this couple came to visit us in Texas to give us a personal fitness program we could literally run with. I needed to get in shape. Though round is a shape, I knew serving God, especially in the mission field, would be easier if I were a little less shapely.
As they finished mapping out my fitness program, I remember their words: “Troy, your body is going to rebel. You have to learn to overcome your pain.”
The next morning, I walked my first mile. My ankles were throbbing and my knees were killing me. Though it was exactly what I needed, it was painful.
Then it became clear. While my flesh was rebelling, to my spirit, it was familiar ground. I couldn’t help but snicker a little as I began to limp because my walk with God was already like that. King Jesus really knows how to paint a picture. It was so obvious. He was reminding me that sometimes, the walk gets painful.
Jesus himself walked in ultimate victory daily, but that doesn’t mean it was painless. The next time you start thinking that your walk with God is supposed to be pain-free, consider these verses concerning the life and times of our Lord…
…And He began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed. Then He said to them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me." – Matthew 26:37-38
Jesus replied, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay His head.” – Luke 9:52
…He groans in the spirit and was troubled. And He said, “Where have you laid him?” They said to Him, Lord, come and see.” Jesus wept. Then the Jews said, “See how He loved him!” And some of them said, “Could not this Man, who opened the eyes of the blind, also have kept this man from dying?” – John 11:33-37
Did Jesus walk in victory? YES! Did Jesus walk free of pain? NO! Remember, these verses were of His everyday life – not His crucifixion. The big question here is, who told you your life would be pain-free when you decided to follow Christ? Jesus sure didn’t.
He experienced every aspect of life on earth — loneliness, betrayal, fear, sorrow, hunger, thirst, sickness, exhaustion – He knows how you feel. He’s been there. We don’t have a God who is only capable of sympathy. Jesus can empathize, which explains His deep compassion for us in our suffering.
He also assured us that “in this world you will have trouble.” He did, and if we’re following Him, we will too. Not following Him is even more painful.
“…He was troubled in spirit, and testified and said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, one of you will betray Me.” – John 13:21
TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO CHOOSE TO TRULY FOLLOW JESUS WITH A FULL HEART. YES, THERE WILL BE PAINFUL TIMES, BUT THE REWARDS ARE HEAVENLY!

Paper Tiger
TODAY'S PROPHETIC WORD
Today God is teaching you not to fear. The only way to really deal with fear is to have an upgrade in our understanding of how much God loves us (1 John 4:18). Perfect love casts out fear and makes room for His presence in a greater way. Receive it and walk in it today.
THE PATHETIC PAPER TIGER
One of my favorite songs was written by my good friend, Pauline Wick of a band called The Wicks. At the doctor's word that her father would certainly die from a fatal heart attack, the Lord gave her another word that said, “It’s not that big of a deal.”
The goodness of God overcame the evil of the heart attack and the song “Paper Tiger” was born.
That’s what the devil is – a paper tiger. It turns out, he isn’t all that scary after all. However, we give him power in our lives by fearing him. Under the cloak of darkness and left up to our imagination, he is a roaring lion, stalking us with hopes of devouring us. Did you know he can only devour you if you give in to the fear and give him permission to eat you for lunch?
Is he a roaring lion? No. Can he devour you? Only if you let him, hence the word “may.” So don’t let him. You know that God is more powerful than Satan, or as Junior Asparagus, of Veggie Tales, so eloquently puts it, “God is bigger than the boogeyman.”
"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour." –1 Peter 5:8
TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO KNOW THAT IF YOU RESIST THE DEVIL, HE WILL FLEE FROM YOU.
GOOD OVERCOMES EVIL BECAUSE OUR GOD IS LORD OF TURNING THINGS AROUND FOR GOOD.

Are you ready to break free?
PROPHETIC WORDS
Being Christ-minded will change your whole life. And you will walk in blessings you've never seen before. God is getting between your two ears today; get ready to partner with Him in your thinking.
BONDAGE BREAKER
To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” –John 8:31-32
What is it that Jesus said would make us free? It’s not the truth that makes us free; it is knowing the truth. Being set free and walking in victory is a matter of what you know.
I believe with all my heart that a lot of Christians are seeing the best part of their lives corrupted, dishonored, degraded and ruined simply because they don’t know how to confront the beast within — their soul. Instead of being led by the Spirit of God, we tend to be driven by terrible thinking patterns that need to be invaded by Almighty God.
If you want different results than the world, you have to think different from the way the world thinks. You need a strategy, an arsenal, to go to when the beast comes upon you.
If you have victory in controlling your thoughts, you will inevitably have victory over your feelings because thoughts control feelings. If you have victory over your feelings, you will be able to control your actions and words.
Bottom line: Having real victory in your thought life is the key to changing your whole lives!
…And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind… – Romans 12:2
Want your marriage, your family and your finances transformed? Want more joy and peace instead of bitterness and despair?
Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 2:5
If you’re willing to confront the core person between your ears to beat your best into submission, you’re at the threshold of walking blessed in a way you’ve never been before. Do you want to clean up the mess that is your mind?
TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO LET JESUS SHOW YOU HOW HE THINKS. YOU WILL HAVE CERTAIN VICTORY IN YOUR LIFE IF YOU ADOPT THE MIND OF CHRIST!

These are the days!
PROPHETIC WORD
Jesus is calling out to you saying, “I love you! Trust in me! Walk with me! I’m your Rock! I’m your strong tower! I will give you rest in the midst of your business! I will prosper the work of your hands! I will redeem the time that has been stolen from you! Trust only in me!
LIVING IN THE DAYS OF MIRACLES
These are the days!
If you ask 100 people to define the days we’re living in, you’ll get 100 different responses. For the unemployed, they are fiercely competitive days. For those in the military, they are troubling days. For the businessman, they are likely days of opportunity. Ask any Bible thumping Christian to describe the days we’re living in and they’ll likely tell you “the Last Days.”
I agree that the time is short. I also believe the best descriptor of the times we live in would be “busy days.” Does time seem to go by faster than it used to? I’ll tell you why these are fast and furious times: technology.
Fifty years ago, people didn’t travel as far or as often. They knew only a handful of people, and likely talked long distance on the phone only on Sunday evenings when the rates were low. There were only three or four television stations. They all played the national anthem at 2 p.m. then cut to the “bug races” until 5 p.m. It’s not like that anymore.
Through technology, mobile devices and a 24-hour news cycle, you are aware today of more murders and scandals in one week than people in the 1960s knew in a lifetime. You travel more miles and talk to more people, thanks to cell phones, email and Facebook. We live more life in a year than those before us lived in an entire lifetime. We’re just busy.
No wonder you’re worn out! If you’re not careful, the busyness of your life will keep you oblivious to the special days the Lord has given you, and you could miss incredible opportunities.
“See that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time , because the days are evil.” – Ephesians 5:15-16
If you want to redeem or “cash in” on the day you are living in, the Bible says to “walk circumspectly” – aka: know what’s going on around you.
In every generation, lifetime and point in history, there are windows of opportunity where the timing is perfect for your life to be changed. There is opportunity for you to make a maximum impact on the world around you and for God to get maximum glory.
God is moving like never before and most people don’t even know it. They are busily focused on themselves. These are the days of miracles. Have you seen one? Do you need one?
Just know that God is still in the miracle business, so don’t be afraid to ask your Father in Heaven when your back is against the wall.
TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO SLOW DOWN. BE AWARE OF WHAT’S GOING ON AROUND YOU AND LOOK FOR THE MIRACLES IN THE MADNESS. THEY ARE THERE IF YOU ARE WILLING TO LOOK. LOOK FIRST IN THE MIRROR!

Is it time for your upgrade?
PROPHETIC WORD
An upgrade is coming to you, so keep your eyes open. When God speaks, be obedient to walk it out and receive His favor.
NEXT LEVEL THINKING AND UPGRADE
There was a time in my life where the importance of upgrade was not on my radar. I was busy running a church, a food bank and flying all over the world on mission trips building water wells and orphanages. While I thought I was on the right track, God proved that He didn’t.
Sitting in a Central American waiting for my flight home to blessed Texas, I was thinking about all the great food I was going to eat when I got home. Ribs, hot dogs, barbecue, Tex-Mex… then BOOM! The Holy Spirit crashed my mental shopping cart with an unexpected God-thought.
I knew if I acted quickly, the thing He put on my heart would come true. Before my head could talk me out of a blessing, I stepped up to the ticket counter and said in my best country hick accent, “Ma’am, if you have any unclaimed upgrades laying around, I would like to pick one up, please.”
That was my first time in first class. As a sat in luxury, the Lord spoke to me loud and clear: I had a bunch of unclaimed upgrades laying around. That’s when I got intentional and started digging into the Kingdom subject of Upgrade and Progression.
It has been on my radar ever since. What about you? Have you become comfortable in your walk? Satisfied with your faith? If the answer is yes, then you are stuck in a rut. The next level of Jesus is right around the corner. Are you ready to go after it?
“Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.” -John 14:12
Want to chase after upgrade?
TODAY IS A GREAT DAY TO MAKE A COMMITMENT TO YOURSELF, AND TO KING JESUS, TO REACH FOR THE NEXT LEVEL OF RELATIONSHIP AND UPGRADE THROUGH HIM! YOU’LL NEVER LOOK BACK. I DIDN’T!

It's Not My Time - Escaping Death's Sting
It is no exaggeration that my buddy Jamie Cashion and I both would have lost our lives today, along with 8 others, if it wasn't for the miraculous power of the Lord Jesus Christ. A TRUE MIRACLE TOOK PLACE TODAY!
After 3 really great dives we went into the water with blue skies. The boat was full of very pro divers, except for me. I just got my scuba license 4 months ago and this was only my 12th dive so I ran out of air a few minutes before the pros and came up first after a great fast currant dive against the famous "wall".
As I climbed up out of the water and into the boat, I could see a squall line approaching fast, which is a fast moving rain band from hurricane Earl, passing just south of us.
By the time I got my tank off, I couldn't see land and we were only a half mile out or so. Behind the curtain of rain was a straight line wind and when it hit us a wave sent our little boat into the air and the captain and I both hit the 2 150 horse power engines at the back of the boat. It was a miracle I didn't go into the water and I had no flotation device yet. Nearly everything in the boat went into the water, including several tanks, and I still cannot believe the boat didn't capsize. I was trying to find my fins because I didn't think the boat would remain afloat.
For the next 30-4O minutes just the 2 of us were in this boat like some kind of a horrible, washing machine. We could not see anything. It was raining so hard and the wind was blowing so hard that the boat would turn every way you can imagine. At one point the engines got flooded and one of them stopped. One time we became airborne and the wind caught the boat, I honestly thought there might be a "water spout" hidden in the rain and we were off to see the wizard. We were in the air a lot longer than we should have been and when we hit it was a mighty crash with the nose way in the air and oxygen tanks flying everywhere.
For about 2 or 3 minutes he was frantically trying to get the boat started again. Again a miracle happened and they started, had they not, we would have capsized. I was yelling in English, "which way is the land and which way are our friends?" knowing that Jamie and the six other divers were going to come up into that horrible mess and knowing it would be impossible to find them. We didn't even really have control of the boat.
After about 40 minutes, something like being in a very dark and very wet car wreck , the winds died down but the rain did not. We saw something in front of us through the rain and finally realized we were about to run right into a docked cruise ship. As scary as that was, we finally knew where we were. About 7-9 miles from where our friends should be floating at. The storm had blown us all the way to downtown Cozumel. The captain, a real small Mexican guy, pointed towards the area, it was still really bad out there and then he punched it. I was amazed because I really didn't know if he would go back out there.
We never got back into the 50-60mph (maybe even higher) winds again but the rain was still torrential. I pulled my phone out and tried calling my wife, Leanna. I thought about leaving a message but changed my mind. I couldn't reach her, so I called Jerry Sellers and we connected. Screaming into the phone, through the wind and the rain, I yelled "tell the Elders in our church to pray for me. Jamie and 6 other people are floating around in the ocean and we can't even see ten feet. The boat has nearly capsized a dozen times and I'm not kidding this is a serious situation. We have got to find everybody". Before Jerry could respond, all the rain killed my phone and it hasn't worked since.
I was praying, declaring, and quoting the word. We drove in circle 8's for a while. It was still raining hard and sometimes you could see but most of the time visibility was less that 30-50 yards. I was seriously concerned we might run over somebody. I was more concerned that we wouldn't find any of them, I mean how could we and we are only about an hour and a half from nightfall.
By now, nearly an hour had passed since I first climbed in the boat. A clearing in the rain revealed the coast line and bam!!! I saw a light bulb flash In the ocean. It just so happened somebody diving had an emergency light. We went flying towards it and the first person I saw was Jamie. It was only him and 2 others, they had been separated from the other 4.
I was so excited it was Jamie and so disappointed that the other four were out there somewhere, including a teenage girl on her 50th plus dive with her mom and an old man.
To make a very long story a little bit shorter, we found them...I mean all four of them! Exhausted and worn out, but ok, and yes, it was a miracle!!! We all hugged each other on the boat. The mama was crying...the guys were trying not to.
So, thank you for your prayers and thank you KING JESUS. I've been in some scary stuff before but this one is way, way, way up there. I felt the presence of the Lord. He was with me. I didn't know if we were going to live or if we were going to drown. I didn't know if I was gong to be the only one found or if we would find everybody, but I knew God was with us. THANK YOU KING JESUS FOR NOT LEAVING US IN THE STORM. Hurricane Earl didn't win. Jesus did. What is the storm compared to the God who walks on it!
BOOM !
Isaiah 43:2 (NKJV)
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,
Nor shall the flame scorch you.

Playing Olden Days
Financially, I’ve never been a rich man.
In fact, there were years where our ministry was small and struggling, and my wife, Leanna, and I didn’t have glass in our windows or electricity in our fixer upper.
Yes, I’m talking years. My beautiful bride stuck by my side through some truly thin times and did more than make the best of things. Leanna made poverty into a party.
Boarded up windows? She painted colorful portraits where panes should have been. No electricity to make dinner for our hungry tribe? Leanna cooked outdoors on the barbecue. She sewed bonnets for the girls, put cowboy hats and on the boys and told them they were playing “Olden Days.”
Dinner around a campfire complete with songs, stories and candles to guide them to bed.
While the kids loved Olden Days and reminisce with smiles about their childhood, it’s hard for me. As the man of the house and provider for my family, those days of lean are a gut punch.
Who knew there was no money in giving away truckloads of food and feeding the homeless? I’m living proof that driving hundreds of miles to preach the Good News to inmates in prisons throughout Texas is not a viable route to the Fortune 500.
It is, however, a direct line to the heart of God.
“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” – James 1:27
While I remember the shame of my family having so little and feeling like a lousy provider for giving our resources away to others, my kids and God don’t see it that way.
A real man doesn’t push others down. He pulls them up – out of the despair of hunger, loneliness, anger and destructive behavior. A real man doesn’t shame people for being poor, abandoned or imprisoned. He gives them hope and offers them an identity as a child of the one true King – God the Father.
When I feel like a failure, I look at my son, Ben.
While he was in high school, Ben took a job at a grocery store. I started to get worried when Ben never had any money despite putting in long hours and frequent shifts.
What was happening to his paycheck? Was the company cheating him? Down to the store we went ready to demand answers.
Prepared for a heated discussion or worse, I asked his manager why Ben didn’t ever have any money in his paycheck despite all his work. I wasn’t prepared for the answer.
“See that old woman?” the manager said, pointing to an gray haired woman at the checkout. “She gets her Social Security check on the fifth. She gets the food she needs for the month and if it totals more than she has, your son pays the difference.”
Leanna and I were stunned.
“But that doesn’t account for nearly his whole check,” I countered, not satisfied.
“Ben doesn’t pay for just her. He does it for all the elderly people who come through.”
This man was speechless. Proud. Humbled. Grateful – and yes, unable to get any sound past the lump in my throat.
When she could finally speak, Leanna looked at me and said, “Now, where did he learn that?”
My kids don’t talk about the toys they never had or the places we were never able to take them. They talk about the people we helped and the miracles we witnessed by just looking after the outcasts of this hard life here on planet Earth.
While we never had extra, we always had enough. And as a father and husband, I am enough, just like our Heavenly Father provides enough. Jesus’ sacrifice of His life for me and you is enough. We don’t have to work for it or earn it. We just have to accept it.
Let’s remember that with God, enough truly is enough.

Overcoming In The Day The Music Dies
On October 7th, 1995 Waylon Jennings returned to Clear Lake Iowa the same way he left 36 years before - by bus. More than 2,000 fans packed the Surf Ballroom to see a world famous performer, initially made famous by not being on the plane that killed Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper. It was something that Waylon had avoided doing for more than three decades.
It seems that planes and musicians don’t mix very well. The Freebird went down and killed most of the Lynard Skynard band. Patsy Cline, Hawkshaw Hawkins, Otis Redding, Jim Croce, Ricky Nelson and Stevie Ray Vaughn were all stars that fell from the sky. But the really big one that made the biggest impact was only a four-seater and one of those seats had belonged to Waylon Jennings.
The Big Bopper had the flu and he asked Waylon if he could have his place on the little plane because he couldn’t sleep on the bus. Waylon being the low man on the totem pole agreed and so they sent him off to buy some hotdogs. When he got back, Buddy Holly was sitting in a chair, leaned back against the wall and grinning from ear to ear.
‘So I hear your not going with us on the plane tonight?” he said as Waylon handed him a hotdog. “Well, I hope your ol' bus freezes up. It's 40-below out there and you're gonna get awful cold.” So Waylon turned to him and said the last words he would ever say to his close friend,
“Well, I hope your ol' plane crashes.”
The next day Waylon found out the same way the rest of the world did. The tour group left him stranded in Wisconsin and he had no way to get home or even go to the funeral. He spent several days sitting in a diner looking out at the cold hard winter and wondering what he was going to do. It was a devastating loss that shook every fiber of who he was.
That’ll Be The Day
So In 1995, Jennings returned to the Surf Ballroom, an authentic country legend and performer. He walked out onto the stage in his old age and long hair, remembering his youth and crew cut from 1959. The music was different and so was he. It was a big deal.
"The last time I was here I stood right over there," he said to the crowd on the night of his return, pointing to the left side of the stage. Jennings asked for the audience lights to be turned on, and the people cheered.
"I recognize this place and I recognize backstage. The last time I saw Buddy, he was leaning against the wall, thinking. Buddy did a lot of that.”
"This is kind of a special night for me," Jennings said. "I lost some great friends that night. You should have known Buddy, The Big Bopper, and Ritchie Valens. They were great. That's all I'm going to say about that," he said, as he broke out into "Me and Bobby McGee."
That concert was more than a performance by a musician; it was about a man coming back to face one of the most tragic events of his life.
True Love Ways
What I really like about this story is that Waylon went back to the Surf Ballroom not as a victim, but as an overcomer. It hadn’t been easy but somehow he went from a struggling bass player that lost a career in one tragic night to a country music legend that every body wanted a piece of. He went back to that place but not as the person he used to be and that is the difference between his and a lot of other people’s stories.
I don’t know if Waylon was a Christian but these are the kinds of stories attached to victorious Christian people. I think God will eventually lead us back to those places where we were once defeated and have us stand there as the bad motor scooter He has made us to be. He makes us grow up. There is a healing for Christians I think that only comes from our journey in Christ where God will have us make friends with those terrible things that used to haunt us.
Not because we have to but because we have become so confident in who we are as victorious people, we can go through those places without being victimized.
As it is written, “For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.” Romans 8:36 & 37

It's a Mad, Mad World
I travel a lot. Having orphanages on three continents, I’m on a plane almost every month. One thing I can tell you, I always know when we’re over U.S. airspace. I know it sounds crazy, but over the past few years, I get a sick feeling in my gut coming home to America. The atmosphere is ripe — anger, bitterness, violence –– I can literally feel it 2,000 feet up.
Turning on the news or looking at Facebook, it seems the wheels are coming off our society. America has seen some tumultuous times, but what we’re experiencing today has a truly ugly vibe.
While it’s easy to blame the government, politicians, the media, ISIS, Black Lives Matter, the KKK, LGBT supporters, Planned Parenthood, the NRA and yes, the church, none of these are the cause of our recent and bloody discontent.
Who is the real instigator of unrest?
It all started when Lucifer, the most beautiful of God’s angelic beings, decided he didn’t want to worship and serve his creator anymore. He, himself, wanted to be worshipped and served. In his rebellion, he coerced God’s newest and most precious creation, Adam and Eve, to follow suit. Though His human family chose to turn its back on God’s presence and provision, God continued to love them and planned a way to redeem them.
Now, nothing makes a fallen angel madder than to see God’s love for His people — those He created in His own image. The Bible tells us Satan wants to “steal, kill and destroy” and he “roams the earth like a roaring lion seeking whom he can devour.”
Most chillingly, the Bible tells us he is the “prince of the power of the air.”
What does this mean? Simply this: Satan’s most cunning trick is to control the atmosphere.
You know what I mean. We’ve all walked into a place and the atmosphere is charged. Rage, despair, lust, selfishness, division – we know that sick feeling when evil stirs up the mob and controls events.
Know your enemy. It’s not the person across from you with a different skin color or point of view. It is Satan, plain and simple. Joshua found this out after miraculously crossing the Jordan with 4-million Jews looking to take the land God promised them, starting with the walled city of Jericho.
Now Jericho was an evil society where babies were burned alive as sacrifices and women were raped in the temples of the false gods of Ashera and Baal. They had no value for human life and violence ran rampant. Joshua was waiting on God’s battle plan when the most amazing thing happened:
“Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand. Joshua went up to him and asked, ‘Are you for us or for our enemies?’
‘Neither,’ he replied, ‘but as commander of the army of the Lord I have now come.’ Then Joshua fell facedown to the ground in reverence, and asked him, ‘What message does my Lord have for his servant?’” - Joshua 5:13-14.
Of course, the Commander of the Lord’s Army is Jesus himself! But what fascinates me is His reply to Joshua’s question – “Neither.”
As Christians, aren’t we in the right? Isn’t God on my side and doesn’t He want to smite those I feel are against His people and His commands?
No. He wants to redeem them.
If the people of Jericho would have turned from evil and followed the King of Kings, Jesus would’ve forgiven them and spared them.
So when you’re locked in a debate over race, sexuality, abortion, politics, guns, immigration or any other hot button topic in the headlines, know this: the person (or mob) you’re arguing with is not the enemy. God wants to redeem them through love and offer them salvation.
The enemy of our times is Satan. So take control of the atmosphere! Get off whatever bandwagon you’re on and get to what really matters — loving people into the Kingdom of Heaven. The days are not only evil — they are short!

Logical Conclusions: Science Proves Jesus as Creator
The boys at NASA have done it again. They have gone and blown our minds with another giant discovery about the universe.
May 11, 2016: “Kepler scientists announce a major increase in confirmed exoplanet numbers.” Yes, the smart guys here on planet Earth say they have found 1,284 new planets using the Kepler planet-hunting telescope. They are speculating many of them could be inhabitable.
While I appreciate and am fascinated by the work those 50-pound heads do there, I sometimes scratch my head over their conclusions. I realize I’m just a country boy from Joshua, Texas. I’ve never been to college and there are no capital letters behind my name, but God has blessed this brother with the gift of logic.
Logic and intelligence don’t always go hand in hand. Things just make sense or they don’t. Logic.
Take creation. We were told in school, and kids today are still told that the Big Bang Theory is how the universe was formed. The logical question you and I should be asking is, “If a giant explosion of nothing made everything, why are all the planets round?”
You see, explosions don’t bring order. They create by their very nature, chaos. Simple logic tells us we can go to the edge of town and blow up a rock quarry 1,000 times and never walk away with even five nice round marbles. Never.
Strike one, smart guys.
Logic also tells us that we can’t make something out of nothing. Creation requires ingredients. Take all the nothing in the universe and blow it up. It will never make a rock, metal or even gas (aka elements: our basic building blocks so scientists tell us). Never.
That would be strike two.
However, my high school science teacher did tell me something that stuck with me. And I think NASA and scientists everywhere are right about this because it’s not only intelligent, but logical. Are you ready for this? Watch the logic flow:
All matter is made of atoms.
Yes, scientists tell us all matter is made of atoms. And they tell us that atoms do what? They move.
Remember biology class? I sure do.
Now, scientists also tell us that if atoms move, they are giving off energy. That makes perfect sense! Something moving would have to give off energy. That’s just plain logic. However, that’s where the high school science books and college lectures stop. Bang! Subject closed.
Not so fast. Let’s continue down this road of logic just a few more steps.
If matter gives off energy, it is also, scientists tell us, giving off what?
Sound waves.
WHAT?!? SOUND WAVES?
Yes. Remember, scientists agree, and logic, in my book, backs their theory up.
And what is my book? The history of the universe and mankind – the Bible. It says in Genesis chapter 1 that God spoke the world into existence. That His voice, His words, brought atoms together to make matter. BANG! God spoke. It happened.
There is something about the voice of God that makes matter and everything in the universe bears witness to this! So when the Bible tells us in Luke 19:20 that if we fail to recognize Him as King of Kings, “the very stones will cry out,” guess what? Scientists tell us they can! The atoms in dense matter like rocks are moving very slowly and would give off a sound so low, the boys at NASA haven’t built a machine to hear it yet. Still, they agree it’s there.
Now, take the next step of logic: the Book says God spoke the universe into existence — so sound waves are the signature and proof of the creator. The fingerprint of the designer.
What’s even better is that John 1:1-3 gives that designer a name.
“In the beginning, was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through Him all things were made.”
Bam! You see, the creator side of God was named the “Word.” Do you recognize Him? Keep reading.
“And in Him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.” – John 1:4
Right back to the creation story when God said “Let there be light” and followed that up by speaking plants, birds, fish and animals into existence. Life and light. Do you see the logical flow?
“The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us.” – John 1:14
Before coming to earth as a six pound Jew and taking the name Jesus, Jesus was known throughout Heaven as “the Word.” It was His name and the very essence of who He is! Even the rocks can testify to that!
So the next time NASA tells us they’ve made a new discovery to prove there is no God and the universe magically created and continues to create itself, remember, through atoms, scientists have already testified to Jesus as creator. They’re just too smart to follow the logic.
