God-Given Wisdom

July 12, 2025 – 07/12/2025

If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. Romans 12:7 NLT
God-Given Wisdom

While miracles are wonderful, they are not God’s first choice to prosper you. He would rather you work hard so He can reward you and others around you through your success and generosity. His best is the principle of “Seed, Time, and Harvest,” also known as “work and reward.” If you are on board with God’s best and looking to succeed this way, you need to be dependent on God for three things: wisdom, favor, and character.

Let’s look at wisdom. Wisdom is the God-given ability to see and know things not obvious to others. It’s the ability to think beyond your circumstances and training. Wisdom is a vision for something greater and the understanding of how to make it happen. The Bible says wisdom is a free download from God: If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. – James 1:5

Wisdom is knowing when and how to move. It is being led by the Lord to apply for a better job at a specific time, even though that job is way out of your league. Wisdom can be a Spirit-led investment at a critical time.

I don’t know if you’ve ever seen a picture of the original Microsoft team. They looked like a bunch of gypsies and hippies rather than the richest, most powerful people on the planet. Had you invested in them back then, it would have been wisdom, and you wouldn’t need a financial miracle now.

Look around you. There are all kinds of trains steaming into better places. You just need the wisdom to know which one to climb on board. God is granting you a spirit of wisdom and revelation by flooding the eyes of your heart with light. He is enlarging your vision for His plan. Watch for it and see where He moves you.

Which Wolf Do You Feed?

Jesus-driven thinking helps and heals. This is what the Bible has to say on the subject: For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. – Romans 8:6

The Cherokee nation knew it, too. Check out this spot-on tribal tale:

An old Cherokee chief was teaching his grandson about life. He told the boy, “A terrible fight is going on inside me. It is a fight between two wolves. One wolf is evil. He is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and self-doubt."

The old man continued: “The other wolf is good. He is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.” He then told the boy, “This same fight is going on inside you and inside every other person, too.”

The grandson thought about it for a minute, then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?” The wise old chief replied, “The one you feed.”

What wolf have you been feeding? Just know the wolf of evil thoughts will eventually devour you, and likely others as well. Thoughts become actions, and there is always collateral damage.

That’s not you! You can control your thought life and ensure the evil wolf starves to death.
et_pb_blurb"}">God-Given Wisdom

The Bible tells us that God “changes not” and in a world that’s moving at a blistering pace, that knowledge is a great comfort. Because God is both eternal and eternally good, you can count on Him no matter the circumstance –even when you, yourself, cannot be counted on.

Somewhere along the line of broken relationships, lost jobs, chemo treatments, and funeral homes, doubt creeps in. You no longer believe in His goodness.

Do you know what you’ve just done? You’ve recreated God in your own image! Because you change from season to season, you assume God changes too. When your life is messed up, it’s easy to convince yourself God isn’t really good after all because you’re not.

Hogwash! He never changes. He is the same “yesterday, today, and forever.” He created you and me to yearn for His goodness, knowing we would have to fight to comprehend it.

Perfect Thoughts – Like His

July 10, 2025 – 07/10/2025
7 – The Spirit of God
10 – Perfect Order
God is my shield, saving those whose hearts are true and right. Psalm 7:10 NLT
Perfect Thoughts – Like His

You have the mind of Christ. As you cast down evil imaginations, you make your Father in heaven proud. He is filling your head and heart with eternal things. Have ears to hear His voice only.

While it’s good to learn from your past and prepare for your future, today is the only day you can control. Today is where you fight for greatness and go after blessing. Unfortunately, if you’re like me – and you are – you’ve found focusing on today is hard. Especially when you consider the conversations you have in your head.

Admit it. Thoughts of past hurts, offenses, and slights pop into your head on a daily basis. Sometimes on an hourly basis. You obsess by saying, “I should have said this,” “I should have done that,” or “What if…” You start to construct conversations in your head that transport you back to the anger and hurt.

From their callous hearts comes iniquity; their evil imaginations have no limits. – Psalm 73:7

Then there are the imaginations of the future. You know, preparing for battle by practicing for fights that may never come. But they do, and mostly because you were locked and loaded from a false conversation or an imagined slight.

Like Adam and Eve in the garden, you are talking to snakes! These conversations in your head are deadly fruit the serpent uses to keep you wrapped up in your past or undermine your future. You’ll never move forward, so you will never be a threat to his dark work.

If the devil can keep you fighting imaginary battles over imagined offenses with real opponents, he can push you into a costly war on a battlefield you have no grace to win. Yes, he’s out to kill your testimony and bring your upgrade to a screeching halt.

Wake up! When you find yourself reliving conversations from the past or preparing for a future skirmish, cast out that thought and the serpent with it. Call on the name of Jesus. Declare you have the mind of Christ because you do.

Which Wolf Do You Feed?
Jesus-driven thinking helps and heals. There is a great scene in the famous movie “Unforgiven” where the bad guy, Clint Eastwood, walks right into a bar where a posse is being formed to chase him down. Eastwood’s matter-of-fact reply? “Well, he should have armed himself.”

That is exactly the devil’s attitude when it comes to your thought life. If you refuse to arm yourself, the murderous father of lies is more than happy to gun you down. It is your job to arm yourself against his attacks.

Finishing is better than starting. Patience is better than pride.
Ecclesiastes 7:8 NLT
New Perspective

About 100 years ago, there was a missionary named Samuel Morris. Samuel spent the last 25 years of his life-giving medicine and life to people in the darkest regions of Africa. Terminally ill, he wanted to go home to the United States to die. It just so happened Samuel traveled back to the states on the same ocean liner that brought President Teddy Roosevelt back from his famous African hunting expedition.

When the great ship pulled into New York harbor, it looked like the entire population of the lower 48 had shown up to greet the President. Bands were playing, balloons flew, flashbulbs popped, and newsreels were poised to record the return of the nation’s leader. Mr. Roosevelt stepped down the gangplank to thunderous cheers and applause.

At the same time, frail and exhausted, Samuel Morris limped off the boat at the other end. No one was there to greet him. He slowly made his way through the mob. There were no cabs available.

Inside his broken heart, he began to sadly complain, “Lord, the president has been in Africa for three weeks killing animals, and the whole world turns out to welcome him home. I’ve been in Africa 25 years, serving you and not one person has greeted me or even knows I’m here.”

No sooner had his heart whispered those pained words than his Lord and Savior replied. “My child, you’re not yet home.”

Let that be His response to you and me. When we start to become too attached to this world or the people in it, may God remind us this is temporary. It’s not home. When we look for the applause, love and attention of others, let Him remind us the homecoming celebration in Heaven is worth the wait.

“And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.” Revelation 22:12-13

Which Wolf Do You Feed?
Jesus-driven thinking helps and heals. Inside his broken heart, he began to sadly complain, “Lord, the president has been in Africa for three weeks killing animals, and the whole world turns out to welcome him home. I’ve been in Africa 25 years, serving you and not one person has greeted me or even knows I’m here.” No sooner had his heart whispered those pained words than his Lord and Savior replied. “My child, you’re not yet home.” Let that be His response to you and me.
It is an incredible honor to serve the Lord in any place He places me. I don’t seek the approval and accolades of mankind; I live only to please my Savior. One sweet day I will be with Him in Heaven and behold His full glory. What a day that will be!

Value God

July 7, 2025 – 07/07/2025
7 – The Spirit of God
7 – The Spirit of God
Well then, am I suggesting that the law of God is sinful? Of course not! In fact, it was the law that showed me my sin. I would never have known that coveting is wrong if the law had not said, “You must not covet.” Romans 7:7 NLT
Value God

God calls you Holy. You were created to be set apart for His purposes. Don’t listen to the voices saying you are less. You are a child of the One True God.

When you’re a child of God, you must learn to value what your heavenly Father values. So, what does He value? Good question!

1 The presence of God. This is personal encounter. It’s here you learn to become completely dependent on His manifest presence in your life. You make a big deal out of seeking Him and finding Him. You want Him in every part of your life and want to know what He thinks because you want to be in agreement with Him.
2 The Word of God. This is about personal communication. You need a huge value for His Word, both spoken and written. I love hearing Him speak – and He uses numbers, stars, dreams, visions, music, encounter, and prophecy in addition to the Bible. Learn to hear Him in these things!
3 Mystery and waiting. This is about strategy and decisive action. At times, you are responsible for partnering with Him to plan and make strategic moves. You’re also responsible for waiting on Him in things you don’t even know how to articulate. You will value daring to step into the unknown.
4 Supernatural experiences. Those who live life forward know nothing is impossible because of Jesus Christ. It’s perfectly natural to live supernatural lives. Refuse to consider any other notion.
When you value these four things, nothing is impossible! You will bring Heaven to earth and people will see the goodness of God. This is how people get saved.
Jesus gave them this answer: ‘Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. God’s Spirit In Mind

July 6, 2025 – 07/06/2025
7 – The Spirit of God
6 – The Flesh of Man
But now we have been released from the law, for we died to it and are no longer captive to its power. Now we can serve God, not in the old way of obeying the letter of the law, but in the new way of living in the Spirit. Romans 7:6 NLT
God’s Spirit In Mind

God wants His Kingdom to come into your earth. You have a heavenly mandate. Be determined to stay the course. You are an important part of the tapestry of God. Whether you know it or not, there is a battle going on for your mind. You see, whatever controls your mind controls your words and your actions.

While the devil would love to control your thoughts and try to take your attention off the things of God, the Holy Spirit puts up a fight by reminding you who you are to God and how you fit into His kingdom.

A kingdom mentality is one that says, “You are a part of something special that will never end.” …and of His kingdom there shall be no end. – Luke 1:33b

A kingdom mentality is also one that says, “You are in, and you can never go back to what God has brought you out of.” …And Jesus said unto him, “No man, having put his hands to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.” – Luke 9:62

Grace to be Different to Make a Difference

July 5, 2025 – 07/05/2025
7 – The Spirit of God
5 – The Grace of God
When we were controlled by our old nature, sinful desires were at work within us, and the law aroused these evil desires that produced a harvest of sinful deeds, resulting in death. Romans 7:5 NLT
Grace to be Different to Make a Difference

I love the troublemakers – the square pegs religion tries to force into round holes. They see things differently. These rebels are crazy enough to think they can change the world, and they do!

Larry Norman was one of the crazy ones. Born in Texas, he grew up in the Haight-Ashbury District of San Francisco. Destined to be a hippy, he joined a band called “People,” a Christian band under contract to Capitol Records. Larry and “People” opened for secular giants The Doors, The Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, and The Byrds. This is where Larry made a huge difference, and where the controversy was.

He was under constant criticism from non-Christians wanting him to drop his faith in Jesus, and terrible protest by the church wanting him to drop his music, cut his hair, and become respectable. Larry kept churning out songs and strumming his guitar.

Larry took Christianity into non-Christian cultures around the world. He was a missionary in the truest sense of the word. I was thrilled when my band opened for him when his tour came to Dallas. We were not close friends, but we shared a stage and sat in the same booth at IHOP. Larry, regarded as the “father of Christian rock” was inducted into the Gospel Music Association’s Hall of Fame.

Before he died, Larry wrote a letter in which he said something deeply prophetic: “I feel like a prize in a box of Cracker Jacks with God’s hand reaching down to pick me up.”

Larry was God’s surprise to a world deeply in need of a rebel to bring music and ministry out of the religious realm of the Frozen Chosen. So, hats off to the rebels who use their gifts to serve God and save sinners. I don’t know if you realize this, but the rebels, misfits, and strays are my tribe – and if you’re reading this, it means you! Like Larry, dare to be different to make a difference! When you feel like you don’t fit in, remember this is not your home. You are just an ambassador traveling through. Represent Jesus well but be yourself and give glory to God!

Which Wolf Do You Feed?

Created to be a Witness to the Lord

July 4, 2025 – 07/04/2025
7 – The Spirit of God
4 – Creation and Things That Are Made
So, my dear brothers and sisters, this is the point: You died to the power of the law when you died with Christ. And now you are united with the one who was raised from the dead. As a result, we can produce a harvest of good deeds for God. Romans 7:4 NLT
Created to be a Witness to the Lord

When I was first learning about how numbers work, I wondered why America became a country in 1776. I thought, God, why didn’t you do that in 1777? It would have been so evident, Lord, that it was You if you had the Declaration of Independence signed on the seventh day of the seventh month in 1777. Everybody would have known it was You. You should have done that. God’s answer was no, I did not miss it.

The gematria of the name Christ is 555. I searched the word Christ and found it’s in the Bible 555 times! The word Jesus in Greek is the number 888. Eight is a symbol of new beginnings, and Jesus is the one who makes all things new. It all makes perfect sense!

Two is a number that represents a faithful witness all the way through the Word of God. There are two witnesses in the Book of Revelation. When Jesus died on the cross, two witnesses were next to Him. When He resurrected from the dead, there were two angels inside the tomb.

They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share. 1 Timothy 6:18 And, So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith. Galatians 6:10

When God is with us, we do good. We don’t just talk good, look good or act good – those things we can fake. The rubber hits the road when we do good.

How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power; who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with Him. – Acts 10:38

God’s Word tells us faith without action is dead. When we live in awareness of God’s presence, we bring life into bad places. The goodness we do undoes darkness. Remember, it’s the ACTS of the Apostles, not the “theology,” “opinions,” or “thoughts” of the apostles! The early church did not sit on its blessed assurance and hope a good God would do the work for them. They believed and acted. Their actions changed everything. They had a reputation for turning their world upside down. Motivated by God’s goodness, they took on Hell with a water pistol and shook the foundations of Rome itself. The church of today doesn’t look like that very often.

Today’s Christians are often posers. There is a difference between an actor and a poser. Actors do hard work. He memorizes the script, hits his mark for the cameras and acts to convince of us of reality in the midst of fantasy. Posers do none of that. They pretend to be actors. Like models or body doubles, they look like the original without any action. Don’t be a poser. Act!

You can control your thought life and ensure the evil wolf starves to death.
et_pb_blurb"}">ACT Don’t Act Like Jesus died because He loves you, and He rose because He loves you!
