Planning For His Will

June 21, 2025 – 6/21/2025
6 – The Flesh of Man
21 – Manifest Spirit
Then they were eager to let him in the boat, and immediately they arrived at their destination! John 6:21 NLT

Planning For His Will

It is a twisted thinking that if something is “God’s will, it will happen.” While this thinking is true, God’s will for your life, your family, ministry, health, and financial success doesn’t happen in a vacuum. It takes strategic planning, effort, and partnering with the Holy Spirit to bring about a desired result.

Let’s take a look at one very smart man who had his thinking wrong. Gamaliel was one of the top Jewish religious leaders in Jesus’ day. Paul was Gamaliel’s student before Jesus knocked Paul off his high horse and set him straight.

In the book of Acts, several apostles were thrown in jail for preaching the Gospel. The Jewish council had a hard time deciding what to do with them. Gamaliel took the floor. Proving that the chief priests and Pharisees didn’t know God at all, he said the following nonsense:

“Men of Israel, consider carefully what you intend to do to these men. Some time ago Theudas appeared, claiming to be somebody, and about four hundred men rallied to him. He was killed, all his followers were dispersed, and it all came to nothing. After him, Judas the Galilean appeared in the days of the census and led a band of people in revolt. He, too was killed, and all his followers were scattered. Therefore, in the present case, I advise you: Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail. But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God.” – Acts 5:35-39

While this sounds like a wise answer, the Word never says that! This is the speech of a man who refuses to take decisive action and has a policy to not get involved! This is the classic thinking of religious people to justify doing nothing while the world around them goes to Hell in the proverbial handbasket. Don’t let that be you! Get a God-given plan and God-given courage and grace. Make something happen to achieve your God-given vision.

Which Wolf Do You Feed?

Jesus-driven thinking helps and heals. This is what the Bible has to say on the subject: For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. – Romans 8:6

The Cherokee nation knew it, too. Check out this spot-on tribal tale:

An old Cherokee chief was teaching his grandson about life. He told the boy, “A terrible fight is going on inside me. It is a fight between two wolves. One wolf is evil. He is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and self-doubt."

The old man continued: “The other wolf is good. He is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.” He then told the boy, “This same fight is going on inside you and inside every other person, too.”

The grandson thought about it for a minute, then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?” The wise old chief replied, “The one you feed.”

What wolf have you been feeding? Just know the wolf of evil thoughts will eventually devour you, and likely others as well. Thoughts become actions, and there is always collateral damage.

That’s not you! You can control your thought life and ensure the evil wolf starves to death.
et_pb_blurb"}">Planning For His Will

Faith For The Harvest

June 19, 2025 – 6/19/2025
6 – The Flesh of Man
19 – Faith
This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil. Hebrews 6:19 NLT
Faith For The Harvest

There is a balance that needs to be taught concerning miracles. As much as I love miracles, I understand that most of the time, a miracle is a short-term solution to a long-term malfunction. Miracles only happen in the most desperate times and places.

If you are someone who needs a miracle, I certainly believe God has one for you and that you should reach for it. The balance to that is this: I believe there is a better, long-term way God wants you to prosper. Though miracles are powerful, they are not God’s best and His highest way of prospering His people. Did you get that? Read it again.

The children of Israel wandered in the desert for 40 years and witnessed a survival miracle every day as manna fell from Heaven. The day after they left the wilderness and entered the Promised Land, the miracle of manna ceased. Why?

They had entered into a whole new set of rules and blessings. You see, there are two main ways the Lord prospers us. The first is “Miracles of Provision.” The second and much better principle is called “Seed, Time, and Harvest.”

Know this: God wants you to prosper. He would just rather see you mature. Seed, Time, and Harvest, aka “work and reward,” is the best way to do that. Wanting a miracle means you are in a mess! Don’t wait for a miracle.

Get out of your mess by working for the reward. Jesus replied, “What is impossible with mankind is possible with God.” – Luke 18:27

Which Wolf Do You Feed?

Life Truth

June 18, 2025 – 6/18/2025
6 – The Flesh of Man
18 – (+) Life More Abundantly (-) The Bondage of Sin
So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. Hebrews 6:18 NLT
Life Truth

I love to read about the Full Armor of God in Ephesians chapter 6. As a true Texan and warrior for Jesus, the armor not only has deep meaning for me, it is a motivation to go after Kingdom upgrade and advance the Gospel.

Though we like to talk about the sword, shield, helmet, and breastplate, there’s not a lot of talk about the piece of armor that may be the most important – the Belt of Truth. The reason truth is seen as a belt in this scripture is it holds all your armor together under pressure. Surprisingly, God says the belt of truth is the first piece of armor you put on and that you should “gird your loins” with it.

Therefore, gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ… –1 Peter 1:13

Remember, the Bible tells you your loins are between your ears. See, the mind is a reproductive organ. What you think becomes your words, attitudes, and actions. If you are fearful, you will reproduce fear in all you say and do to the detriment of others. If you think about your past, your failures or the enemies surrounding you, you will reproduce those things in your life. What truth is that?

First, the truth of scripture – that Jesus is God, He became a man, died for your sins and rose again to give you a place at His Father’s family table. Second, the truth of who you are to God – His beloved child, a warrior who need not fear because no weapon fashioned against you shall prosper. Holy Spirit reminds us of the truth.

However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth, for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears, He will speak, and He will tell you things to come. – John 16:13

Which Wolf Do You Feed?

Your selfless, faithful actions will result in authority over obstacles of evil. Your focus will be adjusted to God’s love and you will not just be a survivor, but an overcomer!

Goodness is a catalyst for incredible miracles, transformations and moves of God. Why? Because it always has selflessness attached to it. And what does selflessness have attached to it? The love of God, which brings grace to overcome to the party!

He Has Your Anointing

June 16, 2025 – 6/16/2025
6 – The Flesh of Man
16 – The Love of God
Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living. Romans 6:16 NLT
He Has Your Anointing

Spiritual envy has become a cancer in the American church. When we replace the command to “love God and love people” with “love God, be righteous,” we get ourselves into a whole mess of trouble.

Do not lose your mind trying to compare yourself and your Christian Walk to others! You will never be satisfied, and your envy will rip you, them, and the church apart! Righteousness is a cruel and destructive measuring stick the devil tricks us into using.

When you start comparing your victories, gifts, blessings, talents, relationships, and ministries against someone else, stop! Ask yourself this question: “I know their glory, but do I know their story?” Nobody gets great victory, faith, or blessings without going through their share of hell. If you want what they have, you have to pass through the same fires they did!

I once heard a preacher tell of a young man who followed him around. The young man watched and listened to everything he said. The preacher asked him why. “I want your anointing,” the young man said. So, the pastor put his hand on the boy’s shoulder and began to pray.

“Lord, I pray this young man would be beaten up and ostracized as a child and would have to go to bed with a butcher knife for fear of his father. I pray that he will live in terrible poverty. I pray his family would think he was crazy and all his good friends would leave him because of the ministry. Lord, let him be constantly criticized and scrutinized by his congregation, and even his own wife, for what he does and how he does it. May he have church splits and backstabbing among his leadership team…”

The young man stopped him and asked, “Why would you pray such terrible things on me?” The pastor answered, “Because you cannot have the anointing I have without going through the things I’ve been through.”

Don’t wish for someone else’s anointing. It will bring you shame and confusion because get this – it’s not yours! You have your own anointing if you just seek it out.

Don’t wish for someone else’s anointing. It will bring you shame and confusion because get this – it’s not yours! You have your own anointing if you just seek it out.
Grounded in FaithDeclare! The Lord saved me and has set me free. He has a wonderful plan and purpose for me. I focus on Him and let Him unfold all the details of His plan for me. I love my brothers and sisters of the faith and want to encourage them as they serve the ministry.

Five Assignments

June 15, 2025 – 6/15/2025
6 – The Flesh of Man
15 – Rest and Overcoming Death
Then all of you can join together with one voice, giving praise and glory to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 15:6 NLT
Five Assignments

There are five assignments that come from the word of God that all of us have to accept as men, as husbands, and as daddies.

Praise: A real man will love and worship God. A kingdom man strategically knows what to make a big deal out of and what not to make a big deal out of. Praising God with your thoughts, actions, and songs must be a big deal.

Protection. Guys, you have to protect your children in this day. You can’t just send your kids off to school and say they’ll turn out all right. This is a different day; you have to be involved, help the teachers, and help your kids. You have to be somebody who understands that this is a partnership.

Provision: But those who won’t care for their relatives, especially those in their own household, have denied the true faith. Such people are worse than unbelievers. 2 Timothy 5:8 You have an assignment to bring provision. You have to work at it and keep going and keep going and be selfless, selfless, selfless, to keep the cash flowing in your house. You must man up.

Proclamation: A man of a few words is usually a wise man, but a man who has nothing to say at a critical time is a weak man. Sometimes, everybody else is afraid to speak up. You be the one to do it. Don’t worry about saying it right; just get up and say it. God is calling us to stand with people that nobody else stands with.

Presentation: We husbands are commanded in Ephesians 5:25-27 to present our wives spotless and blameless. Presentation means you make an investment that makes a big difference. You will see a return on your investment. Invest in your wife, your kids, grandkids, and all your family.

Come before the Lord with your fatherhood and your manhood. Jesus represents the greatest father ever. Everything He did was to express the will of the Father and do what the Father wanted done. Accept your sonship. Thy kingdom come Thy will be done on this earth as it is in heaven.

You can control your thought life and ensure the evil wolf starves to death.
et_pb_blurb"}">Five Assignments

Holy Fear of God

June 14, 2025 – 6/14/2025
6 – The Flesh of Man
14 – Generational Promises and The Fear of the Lord
I will certainly bless you, and I will multiply your descendants beyond number.
– Hebrews 6:14 NLT
Holy Fear of God

God is teaching you not to fear. Perfect love casts out fear and makes room for His presence in a greater way. Receive it and walk in it today.

One of my favorite songs was written by my good friend Pauline Jordan. On the word that her father would certainly die from a heart attack, the Lord gave her another word that said, “It’s not that big of a deal.” The goodness of God overcame the evil of the heart attack, and the song “Paper Tiger” was born. That’s what the devil is – a paper tiger. It turns out he isn’t all that scary after all. However, we give him power in our lives by fearing him.

Under the cloak of darkness and left up to your imagination, he is a roaring lion, stalking you with hopes of devouring you. Did you know he can only devour you if you give in to fear and give him permission to eat you for lunch?

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. – 1 Peter 5:8

Is he a roaring lion? No. Can he devour you? Only if you let him, hence the word “may.” So don’t let him. You know God is more powerful than Satan, or as Junior Asparagus of Veggie Tales fame so eloquently puts it, “God is bigger than the boogeyman.”

Which Wolf Do You Feed?

Savor His Presence

June 13, 2025 – 6/13/2025
6 – The Flesh of Man
13 – Rebellion
Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God. Romans 6:13 NLT
Savor His Presence

There is something miraculous that happens in the mess of this life. Through all the hurt, through all the discomfort, and the ongoing, unfinished business of dreams yet unfulfilled, you will personally experience God’s presence.

It’s not something you read about, hope for, or hear about in church. You actually experience His goodness – it’s tangible! Check out this amazing scripture: taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him! Psalm 34:8. When evil comes against us, and we have to take refuge, the blessing is that we taste the goodness of God.

This is not naturally speaking. It is practically speaking. Our ability to know and experience Jesus just got a major upgrade! Tasting is a supernatural, personal experience and unique encounter.

Tasters are people who first note the circumstances God turned up in the battle, and they appreciate it. Tasters learn to set environments and make a big deal out of setting them. They like the romance and intimacy of a personal experience with the Lord.

In the natural, our tastebuds detect sweet, sour, salty, and bitter. Each of these has a spiritual counterpart.

Sweet: It’s the part of the Holy Spirit we appreciate and hope for. Pleasing to all.

Sour: Strong experiences not easy to take or digest. You have to develop a taste for it.

Salty: This is all about enhancement of flavor. It intensifies personal encounters with God and actually leaves you thirsty for more of His goodness.

Bitter: This is a legitimate part of our experience with God. We don’t like it, but it is necessary for our development.

God wants you to taste and experience Him in a new way. As you taste His goodness, you will crush the head of the enemy as God’s presence envelopes you.

Which Wolf Do You Feed?

GPS – God’s Positioning Spirit

June 12, 2025 – 6/12/2025
6 – The Flesh of Man
12 – Perfect Government
Then, you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent. Instead, you will follow the example of those who are going to inherit God’s promises because of their faith and endurance. Hebrews 6:12 NLT
GPS – God’s Positioning Spirit

God is speaking to you in ways you’ve never heard before. Let Him show His blueprints for this season of your life. Be willing to go wherever He shows you without putting up walls that would keep you from moving forward into your destiny.

In the Kingdom, it is often the case that we know something before we know how to define it. This is perfectly normal for people who, like David, have a heart after God’s own heart.

From the very beginning, God has called people of faith to move toward things that are not fully mapped out. Just think of Mary and Joseph! Like them, you can be one of a small group of exceptional Jesus freaks living unexplainable lives.

The fever for forward progression comes with a big appetite for the unexplainable and the indescribable. In God’s equation, the romantic notion of “mystery and adventure” comes with the hard rock assurance of God-given vision and strategy.

The bottom line is this: if you can explain everything God is doing in your life, your walk with Jesus is way too safe and shallow. Don’t wait to have your upgrade mapped out before you start walking in it. Just know it is of God, and let that be enough for you.

This is how God prepares us to have a heart that says “Yes” before we even know what the next command is. God blesses the pioneer spirit and the life willing to explore.

Blessed are those whose strength is in you, who have set their hearts on pilgrimage.

Rise Up and Love

June 11, 2025 – 6/11/2025
6 – The Flesh of Man
11 – (+) Heroes Rising (-) Disorder
Our great desire is that you will keep on loving others as long as life lasts, in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true. Hebrews 6:11 NLT
Rise Up and Love

I wonder if I could stand at your funeral and declare certain victory for you the way I did for Paula Ledbetter.

Could I stand and speak of your unwavering faith, your selfless service, or your dedication to things that really matter? If your life is all about you and how you can advance your own personal agenda, the world will be better off without you.

However, if you have a testimony of redemption, faith, and selfless service, the world needs you now, just like it needed Paula. Who was Paula? She was my friend and my secretary. She cleaned the church, answered the phones, cut everyone’s hair for free, organized our big events, structured the deacon ministry, delivered food to folks without transportation, arranged all my evangelical meetings, helped me with my newspaper column, watched my kids, made my coffee and organized OpenDoor’s mission trips. She was an outstanding wife and mother who selflessly served and was blessed abundantly. She died several years ago, unexpectedly in her sleep, at the age of 37. She is still greatly missed. And though she may have lost a battle, she won the war!

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed;– Luke 4:18

Paula’s life didn’t end with her death. She had victory over death, and it was won for her on a battlefield 2,000 years ago by a champion named Jesus Christ.

What about you? Do you have victory over death? Have you allowed the blood of that champion to cover your sins? If you have not, call out to Him. Jesus is waiting for you to surrender your life to Him. Time is short. None of us is guaranteed tomorrow.

What will your legacy say about your life? What is your testimony? The Lord is rooting for you to finish well. Take a stand for what matters in life. The Lord is always with you!

Which Wolf Do You Feed?
Jesus-driven thinking helps and heals. “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed;– Luke 4:18 Paula’s life didn’t end with her death.
As a child of God, my heart longs to love the people on my path for all the days of my life. There is nothing that is more important to me than to live a life that reflects the goodness of Jesus.
