Grace for Unity
Steeped in the WordMay 1, 2025 – 5/01/2025
5 – The Grace of God
1 – Unity
Therefore, be imitators of God as dear children. – Ephesians 5:1 NKJV
Grace for Unity
One of the signs of a mature church and a mature Christian is they make themselves ready for battle. They are prepared for Satan’s attacks on their thought life. You see, the church Jesus comes back for is described in Revelation 19:7 as a bride who has made herself ready. Peter made it clear our minds must be ready as well.

Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind… – 1 Peter 5:2-3

To have a ready mind means to be eagerly prepared to serve. You heard it – the first step to making your mind ready for battle is a willingness to serve God in your thinking.

Do you believe Jesus Christ wants to rule your mind and work all things for your good? If so, you need to serve Him in the arena of your thinking.

Are you prepared to think about how much God loves you instead of that one dummy who doesn’t? Are you eager to remember what God has done for you instead of what people have done for you? Are you ready to let God download His plans and goals for your life into you instead of thinking about what you want all the time?

If you answered “no” to any of those questions, get with the program! The attacks are coming. Heck, the enemy is already at the gate, and you didn’t recognize him. Armor up!

“Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.” – Revelation 19:7

Which Wolf Do You Feed?

Jesus-driven thinking helps and heals. This is what the Bible has to say on the subject: For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. – Romans 8:6

The Cherokee nation knew it, too. Check out this spot-on tribal tale:

An old Cherokee chief was teaching his grandson about life. He told the boy, “A terrible fight is going on inside me. It is a fight between two wolves. One wolf is evil. He is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and self-doubt."

The old man continued: “The other wolf is good. He is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.” He then told the boy, “This same fight is going on inside you and inside every other person, too.”

The grandson thought about it for a minute, then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?” The wise old chief replied, “The one you feed.”

What wolf have you been feeding? Just know the wolf of evil thoughts will eventually devour you, and likely others as well. Thoughts become actions, and there is always collateral damage.

That’s not you! You can control your thought life and ensure the evil wolf starves to death.
et_pb_blurb"}">Grace for Unity

God sees me as a king. It is the glory of God to conceal a matter but the honor of kings to search out a matter (Proverbs 25:2). God wants me to call out to Him about those concealed matters so He can reveal Himself to me as I seek Him. I will seek for Him with all my heart every day.

What is it Jesus said would make us free? It’s not the truth that makes us free; it is knowing the truth. Being set free and walking in victory is a matter of what you know.

Time to See the Good
Steeped in the WordApril 28, 2025 – 04/28/2025
4 – Creation and Things That Are Made
28 – Times and Seasons
The woman left her water jar beside the well and ran back to the village, telling everyone, – John 4:28 NLT
Time to See the Good
The first time we see goodness in the Bible is in the creation account. At the end of each day, in the midst of darkness and chaos, God said, “It is good!”

While everything was messy, unfinished, and in a state of deformed transition – while nothing was as it should be and everything was half-formed, God declared His goodness right there on the spot! …and God saw that it was good. – Genesis 1:25

The Lord waged war on disorder, darkness, and chaos by proclaiming and demonstrating His goodness. This is how He changes the atmosphere. He introduces goodness. We should do the same.

And we know that for those who love God, all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose. – Romans 8:28

Since we love God, we are not afraid of the mess. The mess actually becomes employed by the goodness of God. In this verse, the Bible says our love for God qualifies us to see all things work together for good! It is His ongoing work in and for us to experience goodness.

Know this – there is a lot of warfare involved in confronting darkness, and you will not be in clean, pristine, safe environments. You will be in prisons sharing the Gospel, brothels freeing little girls from slavery, ghettos feeding the poor, and trash dumps bringing clothing, water, and hope to the hopeless.

That sounds pretty good to me! What about you?

Which Wolf Do You Feed?
Jesus-driven thinking helps and heals. The Kingdom Dream
Steeped in the WordApril 27, 2025 – 04/27/2025
4 – Creation and Things That Are Made
27 – Things Unveiled and Revealed in God’s Presence and Light of Truth
The one thing I ask of the Lord — the thing I seek most— is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, delighting in the Lord’s perfections and meditating in his Temple. – Psalm 27:4 NLT
The Kingdom Dream
One of the most misunderstood ideas in American culture today is the “American Dream.”

In his article “The Dying American Dream,” Stephen Stone wrote something I think is worth reading and considering. “The term is used loosely to mean just about anything from the acquisition of wealth to home ownership to moral license, to success in court against McDonald’s – all without appreciation for the original significance of the Dream. Because the American Dream is largely misunderstood, as well as taken for granted, it is in danger of disappearing altogether.”

The purpose of the United States Constitution is not to guarantee a dream to anybody. It is to guarantee the opportunity for Americans to pursue their dream.

There is a big kingdom principle in this.

You see, God blesses pursuit. He doesn’t bless you sitting on your blessed assurance, knowing you’re saved, but not extending service or salvation to others.

So they come to you as people do, they sit before you as My people, and they hear your words, but they do not do them; for with their mouth they show much love, but their hearts pursue their own gain. – Ezekiel 33:31

It’s an easy trap to fall into – pursuing your own gain and asking God to bless your dream. Is there anything you are pursuing for the Kingdom? Do you want to open your own business so you can be financially solvent and bless others? Are you going after a monster job so you can get out of debt and start going on mission trips? Are you going after the gift of prophecy or teaching so you can build others up?

Whatever you pursue for God’s Kingdom purpose, your Father smiles on. He likes to see you moving forward and pursuing things that glorify Him. So, instead of going after the American Dream, go after the Kingdom Dream. Figure out what floats your boat and do that for the glory and advancement of God’s Kingdom.

Depart from evil and do good; Seek peace and pursue it. – Psalm 34:14

Which Wolf Do You Feed?

Seriously pray for God to give you an anointing for mercy in stressful situations because losing it and bad mouthing others are surefire ways to let the devil have your witness.

When thoughts turn to anger, blame, excuses, slander (false witness), envy or infighting, we lose control. There is a reason the nine Fruits of the Spirit begin with love and end with self-control. Our thoughts are to be loving and controlled so that ungodly mindsets will be disposed of. Instead of losing your mind, stand! Make a clear and definitive stand in your thinking so your mind glorifies and belongs to the Lord in every way.

Remember, your brain has teeth. If you do not command, restrain and control it, it will chew your life – and your testimony of Christ – to pieces. You can forget about fighting the devil or overcoming the world until you get real about dealing with the three pounds of flesh between your ears.

It’s time to take back your God-given mental turf with clear strategies from the Word. You are to “take every thought captive” and to “have the mind of Christ.” When ungodly thoughts creep in, kick them out in the name of Jesus. Purpose to think of something good, or do what I do, change the mental channel by singing praises.

I want to encourage you to not let yourself lose your mind when things don’t go the way you planned. The collateral damage of lost relationships and a compromised testimony are devastating to the Kingdom.

You can control your thought life and ensure the evil wolf starves to death.
et_pb_blurb"}">Think About That

So Your Joy is Complete
Steeped in the WordApril 25, 2025 – 04/25/2025
4 – Creation and Things That Are Made
25 – Grace for Grace
He was handed over to die because of our sins, and he was raised to life to make us right with God. Romans 4:25 NLT
So Your Joy is Complete
Without a doubt, there are two times in your life when God is smiling. First, is when you were born and second, when you were re-born. It is the birth of a new day, every day!

Did you know Leonardo Da Vinci never finished the Mona Lisa? Unfortunately, I think our portrait of Jesus might look more like the Mona Lisa than anything else because we are not really sure if God actually smiles. It is absolutely evident to me, and anybody with a third-grade education, that the church as a whole is not convinced of God’s goodness. Because of that, the church has not been known for being life-giving.

Many people throughout my life and ministry have told me they consider the church to be a lot of folks wearing frowns of disapproval. We’ve all seen them. Has your kid ever thrown a fit during church? Frowns. Have you even worn less than your Sunday best? Frowns. Struggled with an addiction, sickness or had a financial hardship? More frowns.

The church has been known for judging people who are not just like them for far too long. Let’s change that!

We need to paint pictures of God’s goodness through our goodness. The Bible tells us in Ephesians that we’re supposed to be imitators of God. It also tells us that God is love, so we should look like love! When we don’t, people like Billy Joel write songs about us that reflect poorly on God. “I’d rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints, The sinners are much more fun. You know that only the good die young.”

God doesn’t laugh? He spends His time crying and being a killjoy? Who told Billy Joel that? We did. As the church, we have a lot of work to do. We need to finish the painting of God’s goodness. It’s OK to put a smile on the face of Jesus because He really is good!

Which Wolf Do You Feed?

For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth. John 4:24 NLT
Set Right
I have a lot of respect for the Demoniac of Gadara, whose story is told in Mark chapter 5 and Luke chapter 8. I even dedicated my book Soul Invasion to this man who, in so many ways, is so like us today.

I have thought a lot about him over the years. I have even stood near the very cliff in Galilee where that famous herd of pigs plunged to its death, possessed with the very demonic thoughts and voices that tormented him for years.

Though I don’t know his name, I feel like I know him. Though I never heard him speak, his testimony has preached to me and encouraged me for nearly three decades.

I know there was a time when he lost his battle for his mind, but for the past 2,000 years, he’s had a head full of peace. Only Jesus can do that.

I would pay big bucks to get a glimpse of the befuddled faces who saw him just after his encounter with Jesus. There he was, no longer hurting himself, no longer ashamed, no longer fearful or a menace. He was in the presence of the King and in his right mind. I’m sure jaws dropped in shock and awe at the difference Christ made in him.

I don’t know the names of all the people reading this, but I pray you meet the same Jesus and have the same testimony of having your soul – your mind – not only set right but focused on things above — the Kingdom.

Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. – Colossians 3:1-3

Which Wolf Do You Feed?

When Did You Help Him?
Steeped in the WordApril 23, 2025 – 04/23/2025
4 – Creation and Things That Are Made
23 – (+) Being in the Presence of God (-) Death
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Philippians 4:23 NLT
When Did You Help Him?
I would love to go back through time and actually witness Jesus on earth. He was God in the flesh, not God pretending to be a man.

Would I be able to talk to Him since I don’t speak Hebrew? Maybe I would be an observer, a fly on the wall. If I were, I would want to see the feeding of the 5,000 and Jesus walking on water.

Calming the storm would be cool. So would watching Jesus defend the woman caught in the act. What did you write in the dirt, Jesus?

Though I would love to be there in the upper room when He walked through the wall and fulfilled His promise to the hopeless, I think I would love to be there the day He died. I would like to encourage Him somehow. Give Him a drink, help Simon of Cyrene carry the timbers – anything to ease His pain.

Oh, if I could just be the one voice yelling, “Thank you, Jesus” in the midst of the many shouting for His death. I would tell Him, “You can do this! It’s not always going to be like this. This one day changes everything, Lord.”

A few years back, in my prayer time, I was complaining to God about my lack of a time machine to do such a thing. “Lord, I want to love on you when you were hurting so bad,” I said. In an instant, I felt God speak a word into my heart. “You already do and have many times.” I knew right away He was talking about Matthew 25.

“Then they also will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’ Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ Matthew 25:44-45

Come to find out, I’ve done a lot of time traveling these past 30-plus years. What about you? Have you clothed Jesus? Have you fed Him, encouraged Him, visited Him in the nursing home, hospital or prison? If not, start today. You will be blessed, and so will He.

Which Wolf Do You Feed?

Gather and Rejoice
Steeped in the WordApril 22, 2025 – 04/22/2025
4 – Creation and Things That Are Made
22 – Personal Revelation
Throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. – Ephesians 4:22 NLT
Gather and Rejoice
There is a carnal part of us that does not want to be joined to the body of Christ. In these last days, the Bible is clear that there will be a large group of “separatists” within the church.

These are people who become religious in trying not to be religious. It’s sad the very people who have this problem usually refuse to admit their carnal nature – not their long list of excuses – keeps them separated from the church.

The half-brother of Jesus, Jude, spoke of these folks in his incredible book.

They said to you, “In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires.” These are the men who will divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit. – Jude 18-19

The King James says, “they who separate themselves.” I see it a lot. The spirit of this generation has become greater than the Spirit of the Lord in these mavericks. They are not kingdom-minded people looking to help, bless, and save others from hell.

I knew a woman who always had an excuse for not coming to church – any church, not just mine. The music was too loud, the people weren’t friendly, her schedule didn’t fit, she already knew everything the preacher was talking about, so she just didn’t get anything out of it. She reasoned praying and listening to Christian music in the car was a better fit for her.

“God knows me and works with me how I am,” she said. Wow! The Lord was her personal Genie in a bottle whom she believed came running at her beck and call, existing to make her comfortable.

Separatists are wrapped up in themselves and their own little world. That mindset demands all of their attention. They may see a need, but they point people to the church for help or say, “I’ll pray for you,” as they speed away to their next nail appointment or to workout at the gym.

But that’s not you! You are after the Kingdom!

Which Wolf Do You Feed?
Jesus-driven thinking helps and heals. I love King Jesus and rejoice that I am part of His Body. When I am in close fellowship and join in Kingdom work with other believers, my joy is made full. I am amazed at how He moves through us to touch the lost and hurting people around us, so their lives become better.
Pray a-LatteCALLING ALL PRAYER WARRIORS! JOIN THE BATTLE CRY TRIBE!
Leanna, myself, and our team are constantly on the move—taking the Good News to the nations, rescuing women and children, and standing in the places where giants still roam.
Every mission, every breakthrough, and every soul saved comes with spiritual warfare, and we need YOU—our Battle Cry Tribe—to stand in the gap, covering us with prayers of victory, protection, and supernatural favor.
The Kingdom of darkness trembles when the saints of God lift up a battle cry in unity, covering the frontlines with prayer, power, and prophetic declarations!
Blessing,
Pastor Troy Brewer
