He Sure Does

Steeped in the Word

April 21, 2025 – 04/21/2025

4 – Creation and Things That Are Made

21 – Manifest Spirit

He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises.

Romans 4:21 NLT

He Sure Does

Can you pay a big price for something that’s not mapped out yet? For something you haven’t seen and maybe can’t even explain or define? Can you sell out for something simply because you do not have the option to remain where you are? If you are going to follow Jesus, that’s exactly what you’ll have to do. Abraham did.

Now the Lord had said to Abram: Get out of your country, From your family, And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you, And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you, And in you, all the families of the earth shall be blessed. Genesis 12:1-4

The Bible tells us Abraham was 75 when he left the only home he’d ever known for a land and a destiny he really couldn’t even wrap his mind around. He just knew he couldn’t stay where he was. He trusted that God was good and had something better for him in that unknown.

Because Abraham was obedient and went after God’s promise, he and his generations were blessed.

Then the Lord appeared to Abram and said, “To your descendants I will give this land.” And there he built an altar to the Lord, who had appeared to him. – Genesis 12:7

All of heaven is ready to applaud your rare courage and your amazing vision for bigger and better when you go after your upgrade, just like Abraham did. You have one, you know. God didn’t forget to give you a great big destiny. You just have to look for it, like an Easter egg that your loving Daddy hides for you to find.

Let Him delight in your search for your Kingdom purpose – where you let heaven invade earth through your service. Your destiny is the place where His will can be done in and through you.

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.

Moreover, whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified. – Romans 8:28-30

Which Wolf Do You Feed?

Jesus-driven thinking helps and heals. This is what the Bible has to say on the subject: For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. – Romans 8:6

The Cherokee nation knew it, too. Check out this spot-on tribal tale:

An old Cherokee chief was teaching his grandson about life. He told the boy, “A terrible fight is going on inside me. It is a fight between two wolves. One wolf is evil. He is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and self-doubt."

The old man continued: “The other wolf is good. He is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.” He then told the boy, “This same fight is going on inside you and inside every other person, too.”

The grandson thought about it for a minute, then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?” The wise old chief replied, “The one you feed.”

What wolf have you been feeding? Just know the wolf of evil thoughts will eventually devour you, and likely others as well. Thoughts become actions, and there is always collateral damage.

That’s not you! You can control your thought life and ensure the evil wolf starves to death.
et_pb_blurb"}">He Sure Does

Miracle Manifested

Steeped in the Word

April 20, 2025 – 04/20/2025

4 – Creation and Things That Are Made

20 – Waiting and Expectancy

Now to our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.

Philippians 4:20 NKJV

Miracle Manifested

Out of all the miracles God has done throughout the centuries, there is one miracle all miracles hinge on. When you get the message in the miracle, it changes how you see things and even who you are. This miracle has to be true or all of Christianity is a farce. This miracle is the deciding factor and the singular litmus test in proving if the deity and the Gospel of Jesus Christ is fact or fantasy, truth or fable.

One miracle separates Jesus from every man ever born. It is despised by the critics and reviled in demonic realms. It is the miracle we celebrate every Easter – the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Paul testified to the importance of the resurrection when he wrote: “If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men.” – 1 Corinthians 15:16

But then Paul triumphantly declared, “But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep.”

Jesus Christ slapped death in the face and that makes His credentials as God irrefutable. No wonder people don’t want to believe in the resurrection. If Jesus is God, then they have to obey Him! Most of us simply don’t want to.

We are our own God. We do as we wish without thinking twice about the one who not only created us, but saved us. Is that you? Are you living for yourself and ignoring Christ? Have you said a prayer but never let it get into your heart that you owe your life – especially the way you live it – to Jesus? You can change that!

Which Wolf Do You Feed?

I have decided not to walk away from obedience when I feel weak. That’s where God’s strength helps me prevail! I call on Jesus to strengthen me when I’m tempted, and He always gives me grace to get through! He did a huge miracle so that I could be saved and set free; how could I not live for Him?!

Faith to Follow

Steeped in the Word

April 19, 2025 – 04/19/2025

Faith to Follow

How much of your life have you given to the Lord? If you think it’s too much, step back to see what He’s given to you. Make your life a living sacrifice, and you will be blessed.

Ok, this is another lie that Satan likes to whisper in your ear so you won’t go after God’s best for your life. He wants you out of the fight, off the mission field and influencing others to follow your sorry attitude.

“So, let me get this straight,” said the young man across my desk. “I quit smoking weed. I moved out of my girlfriend’s house. I don’t have any friends except here at church, and you’re telling me God wants more?” “Yes.” “How much more, Pastor Troy?”

“Everything. All of it. He’s after you, boy, and He’s not going to quit.”

Over the years, I have had this conversation with many people, including the good-looking fat man in the mirror. On this subject, we need a right mind. I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God that you present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. – Romans 12:1

Gulp! What does it mean to present your body as a living sacrifice? It means to lay it down and give it up. You may fear going to the trash dumps of Matamoros, Mexico, the OpenDoor Food Bank or the homeless outreach on Lancaster, but the Lord just told you to sacrifice your personal comfort and sometimes even your safety to help the hurting.

It’s really not a big deal. As a matter of fact, it’s only your “reasonable service.” In other words, it’s the sensible, sufficient and inexpensive way to serve the Lord.

So how can God think it’s a not that big a deal to give your entire life to Him? Because He made it, so He owns it! He redeemed you at the cross, so He owns you twice.

Which Wolf Do You Feed?

Power During Good Friday

Steeped in the Word

April 18, 2025 – 04/18/2025

4 – Creation and Things That Are Made

18 – (+) Life More Abundantly (-) The Bondage of Sin

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, – Luke 4:18 NLT

Power During Good Friday

Every Christian has those days when it’s hard to wait for the cavalry to show up. When you’re doing what you’re supposed to, but you’re worn-out waiting.

You need to learn how to live like you’re risen when you feel dead yourself. You can have victory when others have written you off. Whether you are godly or ungodly, you will go through times of darkness, but they are followed by breakthroughs. …a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance… – Ecclesiastes 3:4

The same Bible that tells you this also says, “In all things, we are more than conquerors,” and that we will have trouble “sure as sparks fly upward.” No, it’s not a contradiction. God made us to have incredible victory in spite of our miserable failures.

Our Christian experience is full of good and bad days. Some days, God’s power is obvious. Others, it is not. That is the difference between Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday but hear me on this: the power of God is just as real on both days!

For you and me, Good Friday will always be a day of betrayal, false accusations, torture, pain, standing alone, and having to keep your mouth shut when you’re more than able to defend yourself. It is a day when the sky grows dark – a day of despair, shame, anguish, and laying down your life.

Likewise, Resurrection Sunday will always be about new beginnings, great hope, joy, and unexpected surprises. It is when your enemies have fallen out, you get a clear word from the Lord, and doors you thought would never be open have been blown off the hinges. The power of God shows up, and so does victory.

Again, the power of God is real on both days! If you can’t tap into His power on Good Friday, you’ll never see the Easter mornings God has planned for you. Yes, it is the will of God that you know how to think and what to think when hell is breaking loose!

Which Wolf Do You Feed?

Love Has A Name

Steeped in the Word

April 16, 2025 – 04/16/2025

4 – Creation and Things That Are Made

16 – The Love of God

The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light. And for those who lived in the land where death casts its shadow, a light has shined. Matthew 4:16 NLT

Love Has A Name

I love the way the Bible describes Jesus and how awesome He is. I mean, He really is the most amazing person ever in the universe. Just look at the names He is called and what He calls Himself…

The First and Last, the Alpha and Omega. “Alpha” and “Omega” are the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet. This means He is the beginning of all things articulated, and the very end of all things expressed.

The Word. John chapter 1 tells us that before leaving His home in Heaven to become a man, Jesus’ name was “The Word.” The Word is the Creator side of the Trinity who spoke everything into existence. His voice – His name – literally makes molecules into matter. That’s a mind-blower for sure!

The Light. He is described as the Bright and Morning Star in Revelation, the Sun of Righteousness in Malachi, and the Rising Sun in Luke. John calls Jesus the True Light, as does Isaiah. Darkness cannot compete with Him.

The Righteous One. Acts 3:14 and Jeremiah 26:6 are among the verses that tout Jesus’ righteousness.

The I Am – When Moses asked the voice in the burning bush on Mt. Sinai its name, the response was simple and direct: “I Am who I Am.” He wasn’t created — He just is! How cool is that? It’s also cool that He gave us other ways to know Him by declaring that I Am…

The Bread of Life, the Light of the World, the Gate, the Good Shepherd, the Resurrection and the Life, the Way, the Truth and the Life, and the True Vine.

The facets and nuances of who and what Jesus is are like skipping a stone across the ocean. It’s impossible. But when you start to dig into who He is to you — how He works in your life and how He speaks to you — you will find yourself advancing to new heights.

Which Wolf Do You Feed?

The old man continued: “The other wolf is good. He is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.” He then told the boy, “This same fight is going on inside you and inside every other person, too.”

The grandson thought about it for a minute, then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?” The wise old chief replied, “The one you feed.”

Grounded in FaithDeclare!

I draw ever nearer to Jesus. I can see His glory and I understand more of who He is. He is not hiding from me. He is revealing Himself to me in ways I could never have imagined.

Covenant Hope

Steeped in the Word

April 15, 2025 – 04/15/2025

4 – Creation and Things That Are Made

15 – Rest and Overcoming Death

For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. – Hebrews 4:15-17 NKJV

Covenant Hope

Biblical truth: Covenant is the only thing that causes God to respond to you. What???

It’s true. God does not respond to your pain, poverty, power, riches, or cries for help. He responds only because He promised to when He created you, and again when He redeemed you. Yup, He owns you!

Are you in covenant with God? If you are, your thoughts are not of your own glory, but of His. Covenant is a wonderful thing and there are certain things you can know when you have a covenant mentality.

1 You have a place to go no matter what. 2 You have help in times of need.

The place you are always welcome is the throne of grace. It is the most holy, powerful place. When you’re at the throne, you also have access to the King Himself. Wow!

In biblical times, families and tribes established covenants as an alliance against enemies. If I were in covenant with you, when I am attacked, I can expect your help based on our covenant. It’s the same with God.

Because of His covenant, you should know God is going to help you fight your battles, bear your burdens and meet your needs. If you have a covenant mentality, you do not doubt God in your time of need. Refuse to allow yourself to think He’s abandoned you!

Why? Because a covenant mentality gives you hope! Hope that your ally, your friend, will come to your aid no matter what. Do you have covenant hope?

Which Wolf Do You Feed?

Jesus-driven thinking helps and heals. This is what the Bible has to say on the subject: For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. – Romans 8:6

Goodness is Beautiful

Steeped in the Word

April 14, 2025 – 04/14/2025

4 – Creation and Things That Are Made

14 – Generational Promises and The Fear of the Lord

Then Jesus returned to Galilee, filled with the Holy Spirit’s power. Reports about him spread quickly through the whole region. – Luke 4:14 NLT

Goodness is Beautiful

Some folks think it would be great to know what Jesus looks like. They would like to have a holy mug shot so they can “relate” to Him. Not me. I like the myriad descriptions and the wonder of focusing on His heart instead of His head.

Just like the surprise of seeing my babies for the first time in the delivery room, I’m anxiously awaiting the joy of our first face-to-face encounter where I can look Him in the eye (after falling on my face in amazement to worship Him) and say, “I recognize You! Yes, we’ve seen Him and experienced Him. We will know Him. Prophetically, when Isaiah wrote about Jesus’ features, he said, “…He has no form or comeliness; And when we see Him, there is no beauty that we should desire Him.” – Isaiah 53:2

That’s as close to Jesus’ mug shot as we’ll get here on Earth. You won’t find scriptures like this in the Bible: “And He stoodeth at six foot two with blue eyes and jet blackish hair. Yea, his countenance was muscular, and his skin complexion was olive as waseth common among the Jews.” – Troy’s Bizarre Bogus Bible Translation.

Out of 31,000 scriptures testifying to the Lord Jesus Christ, there are no descriptions of how Jesus actually looked in human form. I am convinced that God did this on purpose. Do you know why? Because those testimonies tell us exactly what Jesus looks like. Are you ready?

Freefall to Freedom

Steeped in the Word

April 13, 2025 – 04/13/2025

4 – Creation and Things That Are Made

13 – Rebellion

This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ. – Ephesians 4:13 NLT

Freefall to Freedom

We’ve talked about the fight for forward and the principle of momentum, now let’s move forward to the actual process of discovery. Yes, it’s a process!

There is a whole new paradigm we discover when we win the battle, move forward, and actually stomp around in new and better places. However, there is an immediate problem with this new level. We are unfamiliar with it. I call those places “off the map.”

When Alexander the Great came to the Indian Ocean, he wept because as far as he knew, there was no more world to conquer. There was actually a lot more left to explore, but he was limited to a map.

That’s not you. You and I were called to be greater than Alexander ever could be, because we have no such limitations.

See, I am doing a new thing! How it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. – Isaiah 43:19

The wilderness is wild because it isn’t inhabited. It’s in uncharted places that He makes a way, or a path of progression, for each of us. He will ask you to try new things without any explanation whatsoever. Off the map.

This is God moving you forward. He doesn’t care if you are a professional speaker when He calls you to speak to great people. Just ask Moses.

He doesn’t care if people like you when He calls you to have influence as a prophet. Just ask Jeremiah.

He doesn’t care that everybody thinks worship should be solemn and reverent when He calls you to let it all hang out for His heart. Just ask David. He told Peter to eat unclean food although his Jewish culture said it was forbidden. Off the map. Just like the Holy of Holies or this place…

Neither shall they say, See here! or, See there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

Speak Life

Steeped in the Word

April 12, 2025 – 04/12/2025

4 – Creation and Things That Are Made

12 – Perfect Government

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. – Hebrews 4:12

Yes, Jesus Loves Me

No doubt you have heard, read or know by heart this famous scripture: For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. – Hebrews 4:12

The Word is quick (by the Spirit), and you know it is powerful, but do you know what it means that it’s “two-edged?” To be two-edged means to be “two-mouthed.” When God’s words become your words, a weapon is produced that cannot be withstood.

Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. – Revelation 19:15

One of the most important strategies God gives you for overcoming any obstacle – even your own mind – is learning the discipline of speaking right words. Let God get ahold of your mouth and your life will change.

In Deuteronomy 10:1-9, God makes it clear that you speak victory before you get victory. Go ahead, look it up! You will notice the number of times the priests and officers were told to “speak” to the people, that they were told “do not fear” and “trust the Lord” for victory. The point here is that before anything is set into order, certain things must be spoken.

You see, the stage for your success, your upgrade, and your God-given destiny was set, and victory assured by the Word spoken over you and directed by God Himself before you were formed in your mother’s womb. When you join Him in speaking words of victory, purpose, faith and life over yourself, hell just has to flee!

Which Wolf Do You Feed?

Perfect Peace

Steeped in the Word

April 10, 2025 – 04/10/2025

4 – Creation and Things That Are Made

10 – Perfect Order

Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” John 4:10 NKJV

Perfect Peace

If you are chasing after God and His purpose for your life, you will have people who don’t like what you’re doing or your success. It’s human nature to covet what someone else has, especially blessings.

So, how do you handle these haters? Let me give you three simple steps.

1) Be a purpose-driven person. Remain confident in your calling no matter what! When you have a purpose, you can focus without being distracted by your haters. The Bible says the face of Jesus was set like a flint toward Jerusalem and His ultimate purpose. Yours should be, too.

And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he steadfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem, – Luke 9:51

2) Know something about your haters. The Bible says that when the first king of Israel was anointed, the children of Belial came out to tell him he could never be successful. Here is the guy taking everyone to the next level, and the very people criticizing him are, in fact, worthless, trifling men who are too dysfunctional themselves to get anything done. Don’t listen to people like that. Don’t let people who can’t get it together keep you from having it together!

You can control your thought life and ensure the evil wolf starves to death.
et_pb_blurb"}">Perfect Peace

3) Know you are in good company. The Bible is filled with great men and women who dealt with haters and naysayers. Jesus Himself said if the world hates you, it’s because it first hated Him. Yes, your family resemblance will work against you because the world is evil and loves darkness. If you are a shining light, you will be persecuted, but take heart, Jesus has overcome the world!
