But some of the teachers of religious law said to themselves, “That’s blasphemy! Does he think he’s God? Matthew 9:3 NLT
Ultimate Justice
For some reason, we humans love rules. We shouldn’t. God didn’t design us to crave rules, but to crave His presence and provision. That’s why He only gave Adam and Eve one rule in the garden… But you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it, you will certainly die. – Genesis 2:17
Without fully knowing the extent of the damage they were about to do, they disobeyed. Deciding they would rather follow a snake than their Creator came with harsh consequences. After the fall, they tried to find ways to reconnect with their heavenly Father by asking for and making rules.
Once there are rules, they get broken. When they get broken, we cry, “No fair!” Over the centuries, “no fair” has crept further into our belief system. When others are successful, and we’re not, we cry, “No fair!” When others are healthy while we battle cancer, we rail, “No fair!” There is a dangerous wave of “life needs to be fair” going through our nation, and it’s wreaking havoc not only in society but the church.
Make sure this is a bandwagon you’re not on! You see, God never promised life would be fair. In fact, He never claims to be fair Himself! Why? Because there is something greater than fair: God is just! Justice is a term used for what is right or “as it should be.” In a world riddled by sin and ruled by “the lawless one,” little is as it should be. We were not meant to live separated from God, trapped in time and sin, but here we are.
This problem is also personal. The enemy loves to attack and take the blessings, promise, and purpose God has planned for you. You often don’t realize he was the culprit, and when you do, you believe the devil has won. He hasn’t! Petition God for justice. Make your case to the Righteous Judge. Keep making that case until He rules in your favor. Because He is just, you can be rewarded with restoration and even restitution here on earth. Yes, your day is coming if you have the guts to go after it! The ultimate justice is when Jesus comes back and claims this world and His people for eternity!
Grounded in FaithDeclare!God knows the enemy tries to steal pieces of my destiny and my testimony. I know my God is just and is listening to my cry against what happens. I continue to make my case against the enemy so He can rule in my favor. Restoration and restitution are my reward!

The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.” John 3:8 NLT
Follow and Go
These are the words of Jesus: follow and go. Follow speaks of the submission to stay close to Jesus. Go speaks of the increase in your progression. You should follow, and you should go if you’re walking with Jesus. If you are walking with Jesus and reading your Bible, you know this language. Your job for the rest of your life is to do Kingdom Business. Find King Jesus and receive His commandments. Then – follow and go.
We decide that we’re going to be God-chasers for the rest of our lives. God blesses pursuit. When I go to Acuna or any of our 51 rescue centers, the kids that chase me down are the kids that are going to get a special blessing. I don’t care if they’re the worst kids in the house. Bad kids tend to love me. I don’t care that I’m not blessing them according to the standard of conduct they are held to in their homes. I’m blessing them because they chase me down.
God blesses pursuit. It’s what qualifies us to know Him in greater ways than other people know Him. It is what qualifies us to walk in blessings that other people do not walk in. It’s what qualifies us for greatness of impact simply because we went after Him. It is in following Him that you learn the goodness of God. When you pursue Him, when you go after Him, you find out He’s your protection. You find out He’s your provider. You find out He’s your comforter and so much more.
You do that because He took you into unsafe places – that’s where you found out He’s your protector. Because He told you to give away everything you had – you find out He’s your provider. Because Jesus took you into a place where you were wrecked emotionally for several days – you found out He’s your comforter. It is in tracking with Him and following Him that we learn the goodness of the Lord. When we follow Him, we learn that we can get through anything because we are close to Him. That is the lesson of the wilderness.
Grounded in FaithDeclare!I am a God-chaser for life! I seek Him and His ways. I follow where He leads me so I can be a servant of the Kingdom. Amazing things happen in my life when He uses me to serve others. He takes me through hard times in easy ways. Oh, what a Savior!

God’s Positioning System
Some people have a knack for direction. Others are naturally as lost as a burp in a hurricane.
On July 17, 1938, pilot Douglas Corrigan took off from Brooklyn’s Floyd Bennett Field. He carried with him two chocolate bars, two boxes of fig bars, a quart of water, and a U.S. map with the route from New York to California clearly marked out.
His plan was to fly non-stop across the continent in his V8 Curtiss Robin. It was a foggy morning, and Corrigan flew into the haze, then disappeared. Twenty-eight hours later, he successfully landed – in Dublin, Ireland! Yes, he was 3,000 miles in the opposite direction, but he instantly became a hero. Despite flying the wrong direction, he accomplished a feat thought impossible at the time. However, he was forever known as “Wrong Way Corrigan.”
I am one of those people who, if you blindfold me and then turn me around a bunch of times, I would likely be able to point north once I stopped being dizzy. It’s kind of like a quote I heard in the 1980 movie, “The Mountain Men.” Brian Keith says to Charlton Heston, “No, I never get lost. Fearsome confused for weeks at a time, but I never get lost.”
It’s not good to be lost, no matter how you get that way. As your pastor and friend, my prayer is that God will lead you, guide you, and direct you into better places. How can He do that? The power of the Holy Spirit, that’s how! He’s your navigation system.
Call on the Holy Spirit when you need clear definition for your forward progression. If you fall out, call out to Him and get back on track. You may be fearsome confused, even going in the opposite direction, but God will make sure you are found.
What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? – Luke 15:4

But Christ, as the Son, is in charge of God’s entire house. And we are God’s house if we keep our courage and remain confident in our hope in Christ. Hebrews 3:6 NLT
Upgrades for Discipled Believers
In order to get God’s glory, you have to have a story.
You see, nobody gets an upgrade without going through a fiery furnace or two. Moving forward and gaining momentum means hard work, challenges and setbacks.
From the time she was little bitty, my daughter Maegan wanted to be a nurse. She told my wife when she was four that “I want to wear a white suit.” Her grandmother and several of her aunts are nurses, and, sure enough, today, Maegan is an RN. She serves the Lord and the people He loves by living out her dream.
People see her glory. What they don’t see is her story. What did it cost her to be a nurse? In order for Meagan to realize her God-given dream, she had to go through an incredibly difficult process.
She never loved school, so she had to conform herself to being a good student. She didn’t know anything about financial aid or grants, so she had to wrap her head around those difficult things to pay for school. Driving in Dallas was a nightmare, as was working full-time while being a full-time student. She had financial, social, and spiritual dilemmas as she was learning how to navigate the world of medicine.
It wasn’t easy, but she made it seem that way. People see her glory but not her story.
Are you ready for that? If you go after your God-given dream – His plan for your life –are you willing to put your nose to the grindstone and push through the challenges? It is never easy to go after upgrade and God’s best for your life. It is, however, worth it as you usher others into the Kingdom.
“A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.” Proverbs 14:30
Grounded in FaithDeclare!God has a plan for me, and I am focused on conforming my life to His plan. My destiny is greater than my history. The Lord will show me the steps and will make connections to help me find my way.

Grace for His Vision
Steeped in the WordMarch 5, 2025 – 03/05/2025

5 – The Grace of God
Moses was certainly faithful in God’s house as a servant. His work was an illustration of the truths God would reveal later. Hebrews 3:5 NLT
Grace for His Vision
Although I love to talk about and celebrate miracles, I know they are not God’s best for prospering His children. Though it’s not instantaneous and takes loads of effort, the principle of seed, time, and harvest is much, much better and just as miraculous.
God desperately wants to give you a vision for something better – a plan for you to achieve and then give you the ability to maintain what He gives you. God designed His people so we’re happiest when we’re setting goals and achieving them.
Our lives are fulfilled by having a vision for something better and then finding ways to achieve those goals so we can live in that better place. That’s the Promised Land and it’s a lot better place to live than from miracle to miracle. It takes hard work, but if hard work alone meant prosperity, every cashier and cook at McDonald’s would be a billionaire!
Here’s how Seedtime and Harvest (work and reward) works:
God gives you a vision for something better. Example: starting your own business or going after a better job.He gives you a specific plan for that to happen. Example: saving your money and researching locations, costs, and regulations.God hooks you up with the right people and the right tools. God gives you the guts and courage to pull it off and maintain it.God prospers you so you can be generous with your blessings or profits to “seed” back into the church, ministries, people, and God’s plans to bless you even more!Hard work and reward are a lot better than needing a miracle! If you want to prosper this way, you’ll need to depend on God for three things: wisdom, favor, and character. These are the tools God provides when He sets you up for long-term prosperity.
And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man. Luke 2:52
Grounded in FaithDeclare! The vision God gave me is coming into focus. I am going after the passions and dreams He put in my heart by continuing to sow into the vision. God will take care of the multiplication.

Steeped in the WordMarch 4, 2025 – 03/04/2025

4 – Creation and Things That Are Made
I cried out to the Lord, and he answered me from his holy mountain.
Psalm 3:4 NLT
Small Voice, Big ResultsAmericans spend millions trying to get smaller on crash diets, gym memberships, and treadmills. All the while, they never consider a serious workout that will not only make them great, but smaller in their own eyes.
And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice. – 1 Kings 19:11-12
The still, small voice described in this passage is more than a description of the voice of God. It is also a description of the heart able to hear that voice.
If you and I want to be people who know the will of God within our own hearts and minds, we must learn to get still and small. Getting still is a matter of prioritizing your relationship with Jesus by being willing to take time to be with Him.
That means instead of getting busy with the next thing, you are looking to see where God’s will and word is in the midst of your daily life. Remember, He doesn’t say, “Know that I am God.” He says, “Be still and know that I am God.”
Bottom line: prioritize God in the midst of your busyness. If you seek Him, you will find Him even in your messy day. Just get still and small, like His voice. Let your pride and self-importance go. Chase after Jesus. Call on His name. Ask to see His glory. He cannot resist a true seeker!
Grounded in FaithDeclare!Every time I seek God, He is available to meet with me. I listen for His voice in the everyday things around me. I hear Him speak to my heart in His still, small voice.

Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.” John 3:3 NLT
Wilderness Wisdom
While nobody likes being in the wilderness, God does His most amazing work during this time of trial. Think of it as preparing for a test, and that test is your Promised Land.
Know this: the wilderness is not meant to be permanent, but its lessons should be. Here are some of the things you learn in your wilderness experience:
1 God is good. He is your friend, while the world is not.
2 God loves your personal, intimate company with Him. He gets jealous when you give your heart to anything other than Him.
3 God loves to be alone with you.
4 You are not a victim, or a slave. You are an overcoming warrior and the child of the King.
5 You should live with a huge value for setting up “camp” in His presence.
6 You should value His Word.
7 You don’t need to have an explanation for everything God does supernaturally.
8 You have no life outside of Him. Period.
9 When God moves, you move. Be prepared!
10 You do not need committee approval to move forward. Just believe what Jesus says no matter how dangerous or outrageous.
The key to the Kingdom is learning a new culture – a Kingdom mindset and God-based worldview. Both are based on how God does things, not how mankind works.
When you learn these things, and they become core values in your life, you earn an upgrade. Are you ready for more of Him and better in your life? Go after your Promised Land by leaning on the promises of the wilderness.
O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You; my flesh longs for You in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water. So I have looked for You in the sanctuary To see Your power and Your glory. Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise You. Thus I will bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name… and my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips. – Psalm 63:11

The only letter of recommendation we need is you yourselves. Your lives are a letter written in our hearts; everyone can read it and recognize our good work among you. 2 Corinthians 3:2 NLT
Live For Him
The Chinese were so afraid of being invaded by the warring nations to the north that they built a 6,000-mile wall to protect themselves.
One of the ancient wonders of the world, it was so high, no one could get over it. It was so thick, nobody could tear it down, and so long, few wanted to go around it. When it was finished, the Chinese went home to enjoy their new security.
However, within 100 years, China was invaded from the north three times. The invaders didn’t go over or around the wall. All they had to do was bribe the gatekeepers, and they marched right through the massive structure.
Amazing! Find one person who is not covenant minded and the wall became irrelevant. It’s like that with our lives. If we don’t value covenant, our minds, marriages and money will be taken over by invaders.
You see, covenant – a sacred promise between God and you – is the only thing in the world that causes God to respond to you. What?!? You heard me. The only reason God acts on your behalf is because He promised to when you got saved and became part of His spiritual family.
God does not respond to poverty, trials, sickness, or pain. That is what we humans signed up for when we turned against Him in the garden. If God did respond to those things, every coal miner in Virginia would be healthy, wealthy, and wise.
God responds to faith according to His covenant. To base your relationship with God on covenant – a “no matter what” mindset – you need to think on this: Your job is to glorify God, not yourself, no matter what!
Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. – 1 Corinthians 10:31
Grounded in FaithDeclare! My life is focused on maintaining consistent, continuous interaction with the Father through His Son in the Spirit. That makes the difference between being connected or becoming distracted. I am filled with wonder because He loves me and wants to be in a relationship with me.

They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do. – Psalm 1:3 NLT
Songs of Life
The Book of Psalms is the longest and biggest book of the Bible, with 150 chapters and 2,461 verses. It is a big book, and it’s something like the greatest hits of Israel because the Psalms are songs. We do not have the music recorded or written down, but we do have the words of the music. There’s not just one author; there are at least eight different authors, including King David, King Solomon, and Moses. Some of those authors are groups of people, so we don’t know how authors wrote it.
You may remember the 70s when the greatest hits of the Eagles came out. Every single song that is on that album is mind-blowing to me. It’s so well produced, the songs are so well written and they are harmonized so well. We should look at the Book of Psalms like that. It is a collection of writings, and we must know and love the Book of Psalms. It teaches us neither to ignore our pain nor to let it determine our lives.
When we read it all the way through, the Book of Psalms teaches us that God Almighty will fulfill His promises from the Torah, and He will send the Messiah. It teaches us how to put our hope in the Lord. It assures us that God Almighty will show up and will fix things. This book is about the lament, the praise, the faith, and the hope of God’s people.
If you don’t know how to mourn without freaking out and spinning off a couple of years, then you need to know the book of Psalms. If you don’t know how to praise in the midst of a big mess, then you need to know the book of Psalms. If you don’t know how to have faith in the midst of a sea of doubt or if you don’t know how to have hope, you can find all of that in the anointed words of the book of Psalms.
The book of Psalms is quoted 116 times indirectly in the New Testament, 77 times directly, and is referred to over 400 times in the New Testament. The New Testament is packed with Psalms. Our lives should look like the Bible, and our lives should be full of Psalms.
Grounded in FaithDeclare!I love the songs written as expressions of our relationships with God. I will search out what God has for me to find in the ancient songs preserved for me.

BATTLE FOR BETTER
They will have the same authority I received from my Father,
and I will also give them the morning star! – Revelation 2:28 NLT
The Bible tells us King David had some interesting friends. They were called his Mighty Men because of their daring exploits. Although you would think survival was at the top of their to-do list, their actions show otherwise.
Benaiah was the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man from Kabzeel, who had done many deeds. He had killed two lion-like heroes of Moab. He also had gone down and killed a lion in the midst of a pit on a snowy day. – 2 Samuel 23:20
If Benaiah had been interested in his own survival, he would have passed by that pit on his tiptoes and never looked back. Instead, he was interested in living big and doing daring things that brought honor to his king and friend, David. He didn’t run for comfort because of the cold. He wasn’t shrinking in a corner because the enemy was bigger, stronger, faster, and had huge claws and teeth. He jumped into that pit and battled a lion in the snow with uncertain footing and no advantage. He jumped in because he was focused on overcoming incredible odds.
Benaiah far surpassed the other warriors around him because he wasn’t there to survive. His goal was to live at a higher level. That takes real courage.
Would it be said of you that you “performed great exploits” in your life? Will your children or great-great-grandchildren talk of the risks you took to bring honor and souls to your King Jesus? If you want to live at that higher level and do great things for your Savior, you cannot be concerned with self-preservation. In fact, survival is the enemy of upgrade.
Remember, in the Promised Land, you go after the territory you want. Step into your battle for better and God will back you up.
Declaration: God is giving me a legacy to be proud of. Uncomfortable places will bring me great comfort. Even if it is a small beginning, I trust God to increase me at just the right time. I am willing to battle to bring the Kingdom so life is better.
