TRUTH IS LIGHT

I’m about to tell you a powerful message on prosperity: give God your thoughts.

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. – Joshua 1:8

The Bible clearly states that thoughts on God’s holy Word will move you into success. The very same Bible also declares your thoughts can move you into miserable failure.

Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. So the Lord said, “I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them.” – Genesis 6:5-7

The thoughts of humanity led them into judgment. God didn’t have to wait for their actions before He struck with judgment. Their thoughts made their actions inevitable.

Until you let God change your thinking, He can’t change the outcome of your life. It’s true. Your thoughts become emotions. Your emotions lead to actions and God knows the majority of those lead to destruction.

So what can you do? Learn to control your thoughts. The Bible says to literally “take them captive.” Once you stop a negative thought dead in its tracks, you can replace it with a positive thought, prayer, praise, or thanksgiving. Then, you will have peace.

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things…and the God of peace will be with you. – Philippians 4:8-9

Declaration:  I have been given the keys to the Kingdom where my Savior reigns! I believe He wants good for me, has a purpose for me, and will show me the plan He has for me. The world around me is filled with darkness, but I don’t let the world keep me from walking in the Light.

LET GOD BE GOD

LET GOD BE GOD

Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath,
for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.
– Romans 5:19 NKJV

The Coleman family is one of the bravest who settled the Texas frontier. When Robert, a farmer and military man, drowned in the Brazos River in 1837, Elizabeth and the kids fought on in near isolation for two more years. It seemed the Colemans were going to make it. Then came Feb. 18, 1839. Elizabeth was working in the garden when she saw a Comanche raiding party coming full gallop toward the house. She saw her youngest, Tommy, 5, snatched up by a Comanche rider before an arrow pierced her throat. When all was said and done, Tommy had been kidnapped. Elizabeth and her oldest son, Albert, had been killed. The girls were found cowering under the bed. Neighbors near and far vowed revenge for the horrific act of savagery, and they would have it.

Is your blood boiling at the injustice? It should. But let me tell you the rest of the story. You see, those Comanches were the few survivors of an Indian village on the San Saba River—innocents massacred by settlers led by John Henry Moore a few days earlier. You see, Moore was hunting Indians—any Indians—to retaliate for another frontier family mowed down. They died because some other settlers killed some natives, and the cycle of death goes on and on.

None of this had to happen! Revenge does not belong to us. The Bible says it belongs to God. My mama taught me a long time ago not to take something that doesn’t belong to me. I’m reminding you to do the same.

Vengeance is not, I repeat, NOT yours! Revenge in my hands or yours is just plain ugly. It does more damage than good. It actually brings evil! Revenge in God’s hands brings justice. Justice—what a beautiful word!

Forgive. Trust in the Lord to make things right in His way, which is higher than yours! The choice to let Him be the judge belongs to you. Choose justice!

Declaration:  I know that mercy triumphs over judgment! God’s triumphant justice is available for my life and the lives of others. I walk in peace and joy because I let go of the bitterness and pain and trust in the Lord to always be the judge. I will not allow the actions of another person rob me of my walk with Jesus.

GOODNESS AND GRACE

GOODNESS AND GRACE

All glory to him who alone is God, our Savior through Jesus Christ our Lord. All glory, majesty, power, and authority are His before all time, and in the present, and beyond all time! Amen. –  Jude 1:25 NLT

I find that in the body of King Jesus today, repentance is like a bad word to us. I would like to change that mindset. The opportunity to repent is one of the greatest opportunities that you’re ever going to have in your whole life. We need to understand the different sides, views, aspects, and truths concerning repentance.

Repentance is how we can experience the ongoing changes that we need to make to conform our lives to Kingdom living and make more room for the manifest process of Jesus in our lives. It is the goodness of God that leads us into repentance, meaning the things that motivate us and are the catalysts that cause us to repent is the goodness of the Lord. Repentance has a “selling out for something new” component. The change has an exchange to it.

I tell you, no, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish. Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse sinners than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem? I tell you, no, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish. Luke 13:3-5 NKJV

The world wants to ask, “Were you good or bad?” But that has nothing to do with the question of where you stand for eternity. That is determined by: Did you sell out for the joy of the treasure that was offered to you, or did you not?

Once you step into eternity, it doesn’t matter if you were good or if you were bad. It doesn’t matter if you died in your bed or if a tower fell on you. Once you enter into eternity, all that matters is, did you repent, or did you not repent? Did you sell out and walk away from what was familiar, what was comfortable, and fully buy into the treasure that Jesus was offering?  That’s eternity.

Now, Christians…how heaven invades your earth, how you grow in Christ, how you see the goodness of God in the land of the living, and how far you go is determined by your willingness to discover new treasure and discover new ways to sell out over and over again.

Declaration:  I am grateful for the “exchange rate” that Jesus has made available to me.  As I repent and turn toward Kingdom ways and live by His Words, He gives me an abundant, joy-filled life.  The chaos that was my life has no more hold on me and I live in peace. I am a sold-out follower of Jesus.

FROM VICTORY

FROM VICTORY

Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you
faultless, before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to  God our Savior, Who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power,
both now and forever. Amen. Jude 1:24-25

Here is a concept I need you to understand: In the Kingdom of God, you do not fight for victory. You fight from victory.

You are already positioned in victory and for victory. Jesus is just waiting for you to step out and be the warrior He created you to be!

From faith to faith – Romans 1:17

You leap to the next level of faith from the victory of your current breakthrough in faith. When God heals you of a cold, it is from that place you begin to reach for faith in healing a major disease. When you see someone healed of a major disease, momentum carries you to reach for faith to raise the dead. This momentum comes from encounter and personal experience only.

From glory to glory – 2 Corinthians 3:18

Glory is when your right relationship with God becomes manifest. When you go from glory to glory, you move from deep to deeper places of relationship. That’s why the Bible says in Psalms 42:7 that “Deep calls unto deep…”  God takes us into what is extraordinary and makes it a common way of life.

From everlasting to everlasting – Psalms 41:13

Eternity invades the temporary, and heaven invades Earth through the momentum of the last way you experienced eternity move into time. Momentum is so powerful; just think how much time the enemy must spend trying to put the brakes on your momentum! He doesn’t want you to be an unstoppable freight train of God’s goodness, generosity, or power.

He wants you to take a step, then freeze up for a while, or forget to move forward at all. But that’s not you!

Declaration:  I am committed to fighting the good fight. The Lord is bringing me into a new assignment where my victory has been predetermined. I walk with confidence since He is with me!

HEAVEN HERE

HEAVEN HERE

But if I live on in the flesh, this will mean fruit from my labor; yet what I shall choose, I cannot tell. For I am hard-pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better.  – Philippians 1:23 NKJV

As people who are supposed to reflect the face of God, we are to love what is good. We are to do good and celebrate anything that is selfless, kind, or uplifting. Do you have a high value for the betterment of other people? Do you have the kingdom perspective of selfless giving? If you don’t, you should. It will bring heaven to earth.

Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor, giving preference to one another, not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality.
– Romans 12:9-13

If you live as a redeemed resident of heaven on earth in the midst of this ungodly generation, you will learn to love what God loves and hate what God hates. He really loves goodness. He really loves seeing His kids go out of their way to be kind and reach out to those in need.

As good as that is, He is ecstatic when He gets the glory for your goodness. To Him, it’s like hearing someone say, “She’s got her Father’s eyes!” or “He’s generous just like his Daddy!” It makes Him so proud when you point to Him and let people know your goodness runs in the spiritual family.

When was the last time you pointed to Him? If it’s been a while, find a reason today to practice goodness and brag on your Father in Heaven. To God be the glory!

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. – Matthew 5:16

Declaration:  I love the Lord Jesus, and I ask for Heaven to come to Earth.  I want to be like Him and be Heaven on Earth. I will show love to others so they can see what Our Heavenly Father is like.  My life is at its very best when it brings Him glory.

PASSION FOR YOUR PURPOSE

PASSION FOR YOUR PURPOSE

And He put all things under His feet and gave Him to be head over all things to the church.  Ephesians 1:22 NKJV

When you have a purpose, you can focus without being distracted by your haters.

The first step to handling your haters—those who want what you have but don’t want to go through the hell you went through to get it—is to be a purpose-driven person. When you’re being persecuted, remain confident in your purpose no matter what!

Jesus was. Despite everything going on around Him, the Bible says He set His face toward Jerusalem and His ultimate purpose.

Now it came to pass when the time had come for Him to be received up, that He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem – Luke 9:51

He was going to Jerusalem to die, and it didn’t matter if the disciples, the Samaritans, His family, or anyone else was on board or not. You see when you have a purpose, it doesn’t devastate you when you’re not invited out with friends. You know who you are and whose you are, so it doesn’t matter if people understand what you do or how you do it.

When you have a purpose, you’re not going to be confounded when people you thought were loyal bail because of the influence of others. Your purpose is not defined by what others think of your performance.

Need an example? Church. If you are committed to coming to church, somebody will talk bad about you. You need to have some things settled within your spirit. I do. I don’t come to church to make friends, join clicks, get somebody’s number, or because I am lonely. I come to church to teach, learn, serve, and worship. I know my purpose, and I have been through too much to let anyone keep me from it.

Can you say that about church or other things in your life? What is your purpose? If you don’t know, ask God and keep on asking until your calling is clear. Just know there are worse things than being criticized or hated.

One of those things is missing the good things God has for you, like your purpose.

Declaration:  God has a purpose and a plan for my life. I seek Him daily to find what my purpose is for this season. It is His desire to make my purpose known to me; it is my desire to walk in it.

SMALL PAIN, GREAT GAIN

Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. – Jude 1:21 NKJV

Let me blow your mind a little this morning with a revelation I’m sure you’ve never been told: It takes hard work and commitment to be blessed.

Aren’t you just blessed because you’re God’s child? Yes, you are, but also, no, you’re not. You see, it takes selflessness and a willingness to change your way of thinking to match God’s if you want to move forward.

People who walk in the promises of God are people who have been through difficult things to get there. Just because they don’t smell like smoke doesn’t mean they haven’t been through the fire. Meshack, Shadrack, and Abednego can tell you from experience that even though it looks painless, changing your attitude and conforming to God’s will tends to hurt.

And the satraps, administrators, governors, and the king’s counselors gathered together, and they saw these men on whose bodies the fire had no power; the hair of their head was not singed nor were their garments affected, and the smell of fire was not on them. – Daniel 3:27

When the reward comes, you tend to forget the pain.
A woman, when she is in labor, has sorrow because her hour has come; but as soon as she has given birth to the child, she no longer remembers the anguish for joy that a human being has been born into the world.
– John 16:21 

When you refuse to conform your life to the heart and dreams of God, you actually forfeit your upgrade. Saul gave up his upgrade, along with his crown, family, and nation, because he refused to conform to God’s very clear order.

So Samuel said to him, “The Lord has torn the kingdom of Israel from you today, and has given it to a neighbor of yours, who is better than you.”
– 1 Samuel 15:28

Don’t be like Saul. Hang on to your upgrade. It will cost, but the reward is worth it.

Declaration:  I have been blessed to be a blessing! My blessings are so great, I can walk through rising rivers and not be swept away and run all out and not faint.

CHRIST MAGNIFIED

CHRIST MAGNIFIED

…according to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death. – Philippians 1:20 NKJV

Did you know God does not respond to you based on sickness, pain, trials, or poverty? He doesn’t.

The only thing that causes God to respond to you is His covenant to you—the one He made when you got saved and became part of His spiritual family. What?!? It’s true. The only reason God acts on your behalf is because He promised to.

So, what should your response to this be? Trust in His covenant by glorifying Him no matter what is going on in your life!

Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. – 1 Corinthians 10:31

Look at how broad the Holy Spirit had Paul write this verse. Whether you are eating, drinking, standing, sitting, laughing, crying, buying, selling, traveling, building, or whether you do it all at the same time, do all for the glory of God.

This is a covenant lifestyle driven by a covenant mentality, which produces selflessness and servitude – aka Godly character. A covenant mentality says, “My life is not my own.” It says this when it’s convenient and when it’s not.

You see, Jesus put us first when it was hard, painful, and downright deadly. Our needs came before His, so He kept His covenant with Adam and died for our sins. God always keeps His promises.

What about you? Are you a promise keeper with a covenant mindset? Do you trust Him and glorify Him no matter what hell is breaking loose in your life?

Declaration:  I trust in the Lord and in His Word. I am intentional about making sure I imitate God by keeping my word even when it hurts. I want my life to reflect the covenant that I am in with Jesus and bring Him glory.

ONE OF GOD’S FAMOUS MIRACLES

ONE OF GOD’S FAMOUS MIRACLES

Hold me up, and I shall be safe, And I shall observe Your statutes continually. – Psalms 119:117

I’m the Christian the devil warned you about. I believe in miracles. I see Jesus in the headlines, and the infamous “Miracle on the Hudson” shouted at me. This story and the miracle in it is not about what went wrong but what went right. It’s about what hasn’t worked before works perfectly this time.

We’ve all seen what happens when a jumbo jet tries to land in water—disaster. Is that a word for you? Things that have been disasters for you will work perfectly this year!

It’s about quick response and cool heads. Having lost two engines to bird strikes, Pilot “Sully” Sullenberger made a quick and radical decision to land in the Hudson River instead of returning to the airport. It was Jan. 15, 2009. That radical decision saved the lives of 155 passengers, many of whom were lost souls.

It’s about ditching the plane—stepping away from what’s broken. Remember, it’s not about everything going perfectly. It’s about a perfect outcome.

It’s about a playbook being rewritten. Just like Sully’s water landing has rewritten flight training manuals, you will find new ways of doing things and new trails to blaze.

It’s also about paying attention to the preflight safety announcements. Directions on how to survive a water landing and exiting a plane are not a courtesy. They are specific instructions you must take seriously to live. Kind of like Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth.

And finally, it’s about the pilot and crew refusing any attention or credit. When God does miraculous things through us, like Sully and crew, get out of His way. We need to remain humble and not make it all about us. The idea is not to make our ministry or selves famous but the God we serve.

Declaration: The Word tells us those who refresh another will themselves be refreshed. I believe that so today I ask Jesus to send a fresh breath from Holy Spirit to refresh me. I stay alert to watch for who I can refresh with Jesus.

CHOOSE LIFE ABUNDANT

CHOOSE LIFE ABUNDANT

Then Jesus said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men.” They immediately left their nets and followed Him. Mark 1:17-18 NKJV

In changing times, it is important for us to know what our priorities in life are.  One priority is to know this important fact:  Change is constant, but so is Jesus.
 

To illustrate the Kingdom principle, Jesus told the Parable of the Hidden Treasure. The Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure that a man discovered hidden in a field. In his excitement, he hid it again and sold everything he owned to get enough money to buy the field. – Matthew 13:44

This dude is walking through the field and finds a gigantic monster, a treasure beyond his wildest dreams. He hides it in the field, goes home, and sells his little bitty, tiny piece of worthless property. Then, he buys a piece of property that everybody thinks is worthless because he, and no one else, knows what the treasure is. It’s a priority of values, right?


Some of us are too tied to the old piece of property. We have a long list of why we can’t sell out and get the new one. Maybe it has always been in your family and is tied to them. Maybe it doesn’t seem possible to move to a new place. You really need to consider taking one step further away from who you’ve always been and where you have always been and walk into Kingdom living.


Jesus gives another example in the Parable of the Pearl of Great Value.
Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant on the lookout for choice pearls. When he discovered a pearl of great value, he sold everything he owned and bought it! – Matthew 13:45-46


Jesus is telling us what living in the Kingdom is like. These two parables are about discovery and selling out, about finding new faith and selling fully out to obtain it. It’s about coming into faith and giving up everything to obtain it.


It is also about coming into faith and being confronted with repentance. Everything about you going forward in the kingdom is about discovering Jesus in a whole new way. The Bible says we go from faith to faith to faith to faith.


How do you do that? You sell out for it. If you don’t sell out, you’ll stay in the place where you are. That’s what repentance is. Jesus is the one who saves us, but we’re the one who has to repent. It is either going to be real, or it’s not going to be real. How much do you value Him?


Declaration: I am thankful that Jesus invited me to come to Him. Nothing is more important than living in His Kingdom. I repent from hesitating or holding back; I am selling out to follow Him more closely than ever.
