CATCH OF THE DAY

Then Jesus said to them, “Follow Me,
and I will make you become fishers of men.” Mark 1:17 NKJV

Persecution is coming in America against those of us who follow good and demonstrate God’s goodness. Notice I didn’t say persecution was coming to America? That’s because it’s coming from America against its own Christian citizens. Look at the news, social media, and entertainment. We are already being called evildoers when, in fact, we are not.

Let’s get one thing straight—the good guys are warriors! The enemy, and those under his dark influence, needs to defame Christians so he can remove our influence on the culture. Is it maddening? Yes, but this is part of the end-times program. It’s not the fun part, but it is necessary. Why? Because we need to be set apart from the world and firmly planted as the good guys.


We are close to the return of Jesus. As the time shortens, people will be deceived, and a big part of that deception, the Bible warns, is that the world will call good “evil” and evil will be called “good.”


A quick example is the popularity of the TV program “Lucifer.” Aimed at tweens, teens, and 20-somethings, the devil himself is portrayed as a handsome, charming, and downright likable guy who just wants to give being good a shot. In fact, he’s been misjudged all these eons. Evil is being swapped for good right before the masses.


As millions fall for the lie, the good guys—you, me, and all the other drop-dead sold-out Jesus freaks—become outcasts. The antagonism against good will grow exponentially—the Bible is very clear about that. Should you circle your wagons and protect yourself and your family?


No! Fight for the souls of those who persecute you. You not only need to continue doing good in Jesus’ name, step up your efforts to love people into the kingdom! The time is short. Lock and load your spiritual weapons. War is upon us!

And who is he who will harm you if you become followers of what is good? But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. – 1 Peter 3:13


Declaration:  God is setting me up to be the good guy. I will stand firm and be prepared. He is giving me the skill set and mindset that I need to be an effective warrior used to win the lost.

BEAR HIS GLORY

BEAR HIS GLORY

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. – Matthew 5:16 NKJV

When you are blessed by God and begin to prosper in business, ministry, relationships, school or whatever endeavor you choose to glorify Him, you will have haters. People will be jealous and want what you have.

Know this: they have only partial eyesight. They can’t see that, for all your blessings, you’ve had to go through a lot of hell to get what you have. They see your glory, but they don’t see your story.

Here is a great rule of thumb when it comes to being envious of those who seem to be more blessed: If the grass looks greener on the other side of the fence, you can be sure their water bill is higher than yours.

This is true in the natural, as well as the spiritual. There is no such thing as a great man or woman of God without great affliction.

Look in the Bible. You don’t find a single awesome person of God who didn’t have a major malfunction to deal with every day. When cursed people see blessed people, they don’t see the price they had to pay each and every day to maintain that blessing.

An overweight person might dislike someone who is fit, but they don’t consider the choices that skinny person makes every day to look like that. It’s really that simple! If you want what someone else has, be willing to pay the price they paid to get it. If not, change what you want to match what you’re willing to pay for.

Better yet, want what God has for you. It’s better than what He has for me because it’s something uniquely tailored for your life. When haters attack your character and calling, continue to be a purpose-driven person and know you’re in good company. The world hated Jesus and it hates those who bear the family resemblance. So look like Jesus and do good!

Declaration: The Lord is working through me to become who He intends for me to be. I am intentional about cooperating with Him and walking in integrity. I want everything that God has for me because I know it is the best thing in the world and that He designed it for me. I will bring Him glory.

WHAT’S THE QUESTION?

HIS WAY IS THE ONLY WAY

I wanted to keep him here with me while I am in these chains for preaching the Good News, and he would have helped me on your behalf.  But I didn’t want to do anything without your consent. I wanted you to help because you were willing, not because you were forced. – Philemon 1:13-14 NLT

Some years ago, a friend of mine organized a big pastor’s conference in Costa Rica. Just a few feet south of Nicaragua, it was an excellent place for pastors to gather. Usually, when this friend has a conference, thousands of people come. Not this time. Only 30 people showed up. He was very disappointed when the people he worked with did not do what they said they would to get the word out. However, before we went in to bless the socks off the small crowd, he said something that changed my life. “Blessed are the flexible.”

We preached like there were 1,000 pastors present. As the Holy Spirit would have it, that conference was a game-changer for those pastors. It was for me because those four words kept echoing in my mind.

Was I a flexible person? Gulp! I was a “my way or the highway” type of guy. How many people had I hurt or blessings had I missed because of my infamous inflexibility? What about you? Is your rigidity with your family, job, or belief system so ingrained that you’re missing blessings and throwing curses at others?

God is looking for people who can roll with the punches because life throws a lot of them. The devil is looking for an opportunity to sucker punch you away from bringing heaven to earth, so he messes with your plans. Don’t let him! Learn to be flexible and keep your eyes on Jesus Christ. He will make sure the blessings flow.

Pride only breeds quarrels, but wisdom is found in those who take advice.
– Proverbs 13:10

Declaration: God helps me to be still and know that He is God. My Lord works all things for the good of me because I love Him, and I am called according to His purposes. He gives me grace to embrace change and keeps me flexible.

ABOUT FACE

In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise. – Ephesians 1:13 NKJV

I had only been saved a few months when I found myself in the back row of a tent meeting in Grand Prairie, Texas. The long-haired preacher was wearing a white suit and fancy watch. He ranted revelation, preached, and prophesied for three hours straight, an organ playing behind him and the crowd drenched in sweat on a hot August night.

About to bolt, the power of God rocked my 19-year-old world. That preacher made his way back to my seat and said, “God showed me you’re involved in a court case.”

I was. He had my full attention. He went on to say he would give me a word on Friday that would totally change my life, but I had to come every night and sit in the presence of God because God was going to change me. It took some doing, but I made it there every night. I thank God I did.

That preacher and prophet told me I was a preacher God was going to send all over the world. He told me to humble myself and love the people I was in court with because one day, they would be family.

Now, I had no notions of ministry and had never really traveled, but the Lord did His work through the Holy Spirit. And yes, the family I was in court with has been a big part of my life and ministry. My youngest daughter now shares their last name. Years have come and gone, and all that preacher prophesied has come to pass. Though the prophecy was powerful, it wasn’t what changed me. It was the presence of the Lord that truly changed my life that week.

I fell in love with Jesus. He pounded a word into my life about advancement and progression. Now I’m pounding it into you.

Now may the God of peace…equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight… – Hebrews 13:20-21

Declaration: I position myself to hear from God. He has a word for me, and I want Him to rock my world. I make time to be still and invite His presence. I quiet my mind of the noise of life around me so I can hear everything He wants to tell me. I love the Lord and love having time with Him.

COVENANT PEOPLE

TODAY’S PROPHETIC NUMBERS

COVENANT PEOPLE

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name,  John 1:12 NKJV

It used to be when somebody shook your hand or gave their word or when somebody put their name on something; you could count on it. That day is long gone in America.

We still shake hands, give folks our word, and sign our name to things, but we do so with a loophole in mind. We keep a lawyer in our back pocket to file for bankruptcy, divorce, or make an amendment to the promise we made. We do what we say as long as it’s good for us. Once the advantages are no longer obvious, the courtroom drama ensues. Bottom line: we no longer have a “covenant mentality.”

“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus…” – Philippians 2:5

You see, you have to choose to be the person who is lawfully wedded, who pays their bills, or fulfills the contractual obligations you’ve signed up for. So, what is a covenant mentality? It is a sold-out “all I have is yours, and all you have is mine” way of thinking. Sound a bit scary? It is, but it is the right way of thinking because it’s how God thinks. It is also the mentality that God has toward you. A covenant mentality produces integrity, character, and reliability. Is that you?

There is an idea in our generation that it’s OK to cheat on your taxes, your spouse, or your boss as long as you don’t get caught. I have news for you. If you’ve taken the name of Christ and become part of God’s family, you will get caught! Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. – Galatians 6:7

Paul wrote the above letter to let believers know God will not let those who bear His name, dirty it or His reputation by sowing evil. He promises they will “reap” or get caught and suffer the consequences of their actions so they can be convicted and then restored.

As Christians, we are in covenant with Him, and it’s a covenant worth keeping!

Declaration:  Since I’ve been created in His image to be a bearer of His Glory, I am also a co-heir with Christ for the continuation of His great works. My soul rejoices!

THE 11TH HOUR

TODAY’S PROPHETIC NUMBERS

THE 11TH HOUR

Then a voice came from heaven, “You are My beloved Son,
in whom I am well pleased.” – Mark 1:11 NKJV

The number 11 is about heroes rising, and it is also associated with urgency. The phrase “the 11th hour” suggests time running out or being at the very end of a timeline. Because the clock runs to 12, this is the last hour to get things done.

“The 11th hour” also refers to finality and the very end of time. It is associated with the promise that God will soon put the chaos in this world into perfect order.

Heroes Who Overcome Great Obstacles
In the book of Revelation, God’s promises are only for those who overcome the end-time spirit of disorder that would rule before the King of kings comes back to clean house. It only makes sense that the word “overcometh” would appear in the Bible exactly 11 times. It is also undoubtedly significant that “overcome” would appear in the Bible 22 times (11 x 2).

Our God is incredibly good and tells us in His word that He wants to do exceedingly, abundantly more than we can hope or imagine. The major historical event of 9/11 reminds us that listening to and following God’s word is crucial so mankind can continue to explore and expand in ability, knowledge, and new frontiers as He leads us.

In the middle of this adventure, there were tremendous unknowns and some unforeseeable challenges. Rather than shrinking back and giving up, the men pressed on. God’s word says, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” 
We have sound minds given to us by our Creator.  If we give in to the spirit of fear, we often shut our minds down and don’t react as well as we are programmed to do. Valor stirred up in the soul of man activates the supernatural power and sound mind of mankind that are provided by God, who loves them.

Declaration:  My Savior is an overcomer and His Spirit in me fills me with the power and authority to rise up and overcome anything that comes my way. God’s plan and purpose for me is exciting and I refuse to let anything hold me back from walking fully in victory with Him.

ORDER OUT OF CHAOS

ORDER OUT OF CHAOS

You, Lord, in the beginning, laid the foundation of the earth, And the heavens are the work of Your hands. – Hebrews 1:10 NKJV

Jesus Christ is alive and well! His power is real in these busy Last Days.

Just as He unwrapped the napkin tied around His face and moved the stone 2,000 years ago, these extreme days require an extreme move of the Lord. In other words, it’s the perfect time for miracles! Truth be told, I like miracles because they cause the devil to run off screaming, “No fair!”

God has never been afraid to do miracles, nor has He been ashamed of the miracles He’s done. Strangely, many of God’s people want to apologize for anything miraculous. They do this because miracles tend to appeal to the emotion more than the intellect, and that is offensive to some.

I understand the skepticism. I’ve seen the bleeding statues, miracle water, and Pentecostal snake handlers and cringed. Still, there is no excuse for true believers to doubt that God is who He says He is—all-powerful.

In other words, miracles are real because God is who He advertises. God is genuine, and He doesn’t need to prove it. Just like Cuba Gooding Jr.’s character, Rod Tidwell, said in the movie Jerry McGuire, “Show me the money!” people are skeptical in these extreme days. They want God to, “Show me the power! Prove it, God! You say You are love, so show me. You say You provide peace and the answer, then show me.” They’ve heard the hype, now they want to see the power!

Can you show them God’s power? Do people see the miracle of your second birth? Do they see the face of the Savior in you? Without the proof of a changed life, your boasting is just false advertising.

By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through him that has completely healed him, as you can all see. – Acts 3:16

Declaration:  The God of miracles wants to show others the wonder of Who He is through me. I walk in boldness of faith and let Him shine through!

FRUIT BEARING STRENGTH

FRUIT BEARING STRENGTH

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
– Joshua 1:9 NKJV

Somehow, people have gotten the impression that God is the mean old man in the sky waiting to spit in our Cheerios if we mess up.

Lost job? Crumbling marriage or rebellious child? God must be punishing me for something I did. Financial problems, health issues, natural disasters? God is judging me. I must have messed up when I…. STOP!

This is wrong thinking from the pit of Hell! The devil wants you to believe this lie so you will doubt your Father’s goodness. Satan hates it when we know how good God truly is. It shines a very bright spotlight on how evil and demented he is. He hates to be reminded that he is not God and has already been defeated.

Know this: God’s not mad at you. He’s not waiting for you to mess up so He can squash you. He’s just not. That’s not who He is or how He deals with us. He does let us have the natural consequences of our actions, but that is on us alone – not Him.

There is a beautiful scene at the end of “The Agony and the Ecstasy,” Irving Berlin’s historical novel about Michelangelo that illustrates my point. An aging Pope Julius II visits the nearly completed ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. The pope looks up at the now-famous depiction of God about to impart the gift of life to Adam. Now, Julius had fought terrible, bloody wars in the name of the church. However, as he looks at Michelangelo’s picture of God, a smile comes to his lips.

“Do you truly believe God is that benign?” he asks the famous painter. “Yes, Holy Father,” Michelangelo replies. Pope Julius says, “I most ardently hope so since I am going to be standing before Him before long. If He is as you have painted Him, then I shall be forgiven my sins.”

The pope saw an image of God, unlike the one he had lived with his whole life. God wasn’t killing life. God loved to give life. He is love, light, and life. He never brings you hatred, darkness, or death. Those things are brought our way by nature, the devil, and by man – oftentimes self-inflicted. God is good, period.

In him was life, and the life was the light of men. – John 1:4

Declaration: God is good all the time, in all ways, for all of eternity. I walk in the goodness of God, and I see Him move in great ways to work things out for me. I will not let the lies of the devil rob me of the peace and joy that God created for my life.

THINK WITH ME

THINK WITH ME

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. – Joshua 1:8 NKJV

There are two major myths about your mind. The first is that your brain didn’t come with an instruction manual. The truth is, it did – the Bible.

The second myth is that you are not responsible for your thoughts. There’s nothing worse than a man who will not defend his property. A thief breaks into his house and takes what he wants, and the pathetic coward is balled up under the covers. When his wife asks, “Why did you let that stranger ransack our home?” the reply is pitiful. “Because I can’t be held responsible for who comes in here.”

You’re right. It is not your fault you’re being invaded. It is your fault, however, that you won’t defend your property! You have to fight for what God has trusted you with, especially your thinking. Your thoughts shape who you are.

“For as he thinks in his heart, so is he…” – Proverbs 23:7

You are responsible for defending your mind against random thoughts that do not glorify God. You let things into your mind you would never let into your home. Pick up your gun (the Word) and blast that devil from hell who’s breaking into your head! Defend yourself because it makes God sorry you were even born when you refuse to protect your mind.

Read why God wiped out the people of Noah’s generation:
And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved Him at His heart. And the LORD said, “I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth…” – Genesis 6:5-7

A surefire way to grieve God and bring His wrath down upon you is to refuse to be held responsible for what and how you think. It just doesn’t fly.

Declaration: My soul longs to have the Word of God stored up so that I won’t fall into sin.  I want to be close to Jesus more than anything else and His word leads me closer to Him.
