PROCESS OF GOD

Do you not know that you are the temple of God
and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? – 1 Corinthians 3:16

The yellow brick road to God’s greater things is not a product of random circumstances. What I’m about to tell you goes against the grain of our fast food get-it-now generation. Are you ready for it?

God is a God of process. Strategic, specific progression. We have to submit to His will if we want Him to perfectly complete the process in our life. Those three stages are Egypt, the Wilderness, and the Promised Land. The book of Exodus is a great starting point for understanding this progression.

In Egypt, the Hebrews were slaves. What are you enslaved by? Finances, a loveless marriage, anger, addiction, poor health, a past you can’t shake, lies that continue to follow you, a job that robs your soul? When you’re in Egypt, you’re digging a great big hole for yourself. God is still with you and wants to deliver you, but you have to put the shovel down!

In the Wilderness, the Hebrews were free, but they had to learn how to trust God for their provision and build a relationship with Him. They failed miserably. They feared they would starve to death, so God provided manna every morning. They grumbled. They complained. They feared the unknown. Are you like the children of Israel? Do you long for Egypt because it’s familiar? Do you see the miracles God works in your life but doubt His power? Getting out of the wilderness and into the Promised Land takes faith and action. You have to step forward into God’s promises.

In the Promised Land, the Hebrews trusted God and took the land He had set aside for them. They learned that when you advance into new territory, you don’t fight for victory, you fight from victory. They no longer needed manna because they were ready to step into God’s promises and bear fruit of their own. Are you bearing fruit? Are you walking in God’s promises?

“Hear, O Israel! You are crossing over the Jordan today to go in to dispossess nations greater and mightier than you, great cities fortified to heaven…” – Deuteronomy 9:1

Declaration: Jesus saved me, so I am not a slave to sin; He redeemed me, so I do not wander in a barren wilderness; He transformed me so that I am walking as a child of the Lord Most High.

RADICALLY RESCUED

RADICALLY RESCUED

…being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ; Philippians 1:6 NKJV

A few years back, Poland suffered a brutal winter. Temperatures were -31 degrees without the wind chill. Every river in the nation was frozen. The day the ice broke and the rivers began to flow again, a purebred German Shepherd whom I like to call Lucky was walking across the ice in Warsaw. Poor Lucky quickly found himself floating on a small patch of ice, moving swiftly down the river.

Police and firefighters tried to rescue him, but the current was moving fast. They lost him. Two days later, the captain of a fishing boat spotted something strange in the Baltic Sea. He steered the boat closer and found a dog struggling not to fall into the sea. He managed to scoop Lucky up and wrap him in a blanket. The dog had traveled 70 miles downriver and 13 miles out to sea. That’s one blessed dog!

I think it’s important for you and I, as Christians, to live lives that demonstrate how we’ve been rescued. Show me a person who’s been rescued from certain death, and I’ll show you somebody who loves life and wants to live it to the full.

Just like that, nobody with a real revelation of what it means to be saved or rescued by Christ pines for the good old days. We should be looking forward and doing good works so people will say, “Why do you do all that?” Then, we can testify to a love that saves for eternity.

Living a rescued life means testifying to the goodness and resurrection power of Jesus Christ. I know I’m living a rescued life. Are you?

“For whomever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”  – Romans 10:13

Declaration: My life has been transformed by Jesus because He saved me to do the work He has for me in the Kingdom. My eyes are open to see the opportunities to show what a difference having Jesus in my life makes.

GRACE UPON GRACE

TODAY’S PROPHETIC NUMBERS

GRACE UPON GRACE

Through Him we have received grace and apostleship
for obedience to the faith among all nations for His name.
– Romans 1:5 (NKJV)

This is a double five-year, which means there is a double grace.  The Hebrew year is 5785, which has two fives, so there are two Hebrew letters, Heys, in it. The Hey represents God’s Breath. This year is 2025; 25 is five squared, which is another double five.

God’s invitation is this, “Come and seek Me concerning My grace, and I will add a new layer to the layer I’ve already given you.” The Lord is saying, Come and visit me at a certain time about a certain subject, and I will add a new layer of revelation to it simply because you showed up.

It is good to pick a time of year when we come before Him and say, “I’m going to get set up for the year to come. I need to get real about the places in my life where I’m a little bit too loose, and I’m open to temptation in some areas. Pray and decide to close the opening to things that pull you away from God.

I have a list of many “I Will” prayers to help me. I also have “I Will Not” prayers to strengthen me. Three very important ones are: I will not fall into temptation. I will not fall into delusion. I will not fall into deception.

What are the doors that you opened that you need to close? That’s a really good thing to look at when it’s a delusion, but not only the delusion of just your perception of reality through what lenses we look through.

This is also about our perception of reality based on how we feel about things. Often, the way that we think or the fact that we feel a certain way about it is a result of what we have been taught to believe. We can have an emotional investment in something we believe to be true, but it’s not true.

When the Spirit of the Lord moves, you may realize you have wasted a lot of years being mad over something that should have never been mad over it. You may realize you’ve wasted a lot of time thinking and feeling things based on a lie. If we let Him in, the Lord helps us concerning our emotions in such a big way.

Declaration: The grace of God is a blessing to me as I contemplate changes I need to make in my life this year. I am grateful that I can come to Him and be met by His grace to change the things I can. I ask Him for wisdom to know how to improve my kingdom walk.

THE POWER OF GOD’S SPIRIT

I remember the late John Belushi of The Blues Brothers standing on the edge of a stage in a white-hot spotlight singing, “I’m a soul man!” As much as I love that song, I don’t sing it anymore, because it’s a bad testimony. We are not supposed to be soul men and women. We are supposed to be “Spirit of God” people. 

And so it is written, the first man, Adam, was made a living soul; the last Adam [Jesus] was made a quickening spirit. – 1 Corinthians 15:44-45 

People say the difference between animals and people is that animals don’t have a soul. This is wrong. Animals have souls just like we do. According to the Bible, the soul is our mind and get this—it is animalistic in nature. It’s the beast within.   

A beast has a mind, a will, and emotions. It goes after what it wants and runs away from what it’s scared of. It meets its impulses as a brute beast.  

But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves. – Jude 10:10 

What makes someone like an animal? Look at what Peter says on the subject: 
But these, like natural brute beasts made to be caught and destroyed, speak evil of things they do not understand and will utterly perish in their own corruption. – 2 Peter 2:12  

The bottom line is this: the soul is your thought life and your emotions, and we know they are liars. Beasts are meant to be caught in the snare – to be put into bondage, often by their own corruption. Most people, even believers, don’t understand this. 

So, where does Jesus operate? The Bible says it’s in the Spirit, not the soul. Know the difference. Don’t listen to your head or your heart. Call on the Spirit of Truth within you.  

Declaration: I am not a slave to the beast within. I have been set free through the blood of Jesus Christ. I will not listen to the carnal spirit; I follow the Spirit of the Lord.

MOVING FORWARD

MOVING FORWARD

 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. – 1 Peter 2:9 

I hope the old saying isn’t true: the more things change, the more they stay the same.  You see, I don’t want to stay the same, and neither should you. Anyone who gets close to God should catch a holy fever for moving forward, increase, and upgrade. I’ve got it. I’ve got it bad!  

I’ve been in constant transition since the day I got saved in May of 1986. The church I’ve pastored since 1995 has never looked the same from one year to the next. I have learned something extraordinary over time — the messiness of transition and the joy of discovery are normal for people who choose not to live a powerless life. 

Is this you? I sure hope so! If it is, be warned: going after an upgrade for more of the Holy Spirit doesn’t sit well with religious or “churchy” folks. You will recognize them right off the bat: they have a need for security and fear for survival. They stay on their couch or pew, the frozen chosen never warming up to the idea of more. They criticize you and try to talk you out of your next big step up. 

“Aren’t you afraid to go on a mission trip? Isn’t it dangerous?” “What about your kids? Won’t they resent you if you adopt an orphan?” “Those homeless people under the bridge are there for a reason. They don’t know how to behave in society, and you want to feed them?” “I know a woman who took in a foster child, and he tried to burn the house down!” 

They like to tell you to stay put so they won’t feel alone. Misery truly does love company. Why are we sitting here until we die?  – 2 Kings 7:3 

Trouble is, you are called to not only live but love what the Lord loves and hate what He hates. He loves unreached people, orphans, the homeless, and the forgotten, and He hates the thought of you not reaching your God-given potential. You should, too. 

Declaration:  God is altering my perspective on “change.” Change makes life exciting, and God is in the process of making changes in my life. I am open to all the ways God works all things for my good, including change.

UNITED IN HIS KINGDOM

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. Genesis 1:1-2 

This a special time of the decade of the 80s on the Hebrew calendar. Pey is the letter that represents 80, and the prophetic picture of the Pey is the mouth. We entered this time in the year 2020 on the Gregorian calendar. This is a season where we turn to see the Voice of the Lord and decide that our mouths will line up with His mouth. Our words matter, and we say what He says, not idle words. We’re very strict about words coming from our mouths.  

This is the fifth year of the decade of Pey. Hey is the Hebrew letter that represents the number five. So, this is the year of Pey Hey. The Hey represents the Breath of God, which I will be talking about at the New Beginnings Conference in 2025.  

There is an aspect of this Pey Hey year that is the Voice of God bringing manifold grace. Sadly, a lot of us think God’s grace is only for salvation. I praise God for the grace of God for salvation. We are all in desperate need of a Savior.

Once saved, you are invited by the grace of God to the table as a child of God. You move from the Gospel of Salvation into the Gospel of the Kingdom. People can miss the Gospel of the Kingdom if they argue over what it means to be saved. The Pharisees, Sadducees, and people who couldn’t see missed Jesus because they had no understanding of the Kingdom. They said you have to keep the law, be Jewish, you have to do this, and observe that, etc. They were so into the Gospel of Salvation that they missed the Gospel of the Kingdom.  

Jesus said, this Gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the Earth, and then He’s coming back. The Kingdom is where the King has dominion. When the King of kings, and the Lord of lords, actually owns and operates and has the full demonstration of His will – that is the Kingdom. We have His manifold grace to live and operate as His children in His Kingdom.  

Declaration: The rhema word I heard Jesus say to me when He saved me assures my soul that I am saved. I walk in the Kingdom as a child of the Lord Most High. Standing at the beginning of this new year, I am intentional about speaking what He says and walking freely in His Kingdom. His Spirit hovers over my life. I am the head and not the tail; I am above and not beneath, and I am highly favored of the Lord!

WATCH NIGHT

WATCH NIGHT

These things says He who has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars: “I know your works, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead. Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die, for I have not found your works perfect before God.
–  Revelation 3:1-2 NKJV 

Will you be watching and waiting for the ball to drop in Times Square tonight?  Millions crowd around and watch. They know it will drop, and they celebrate when it does. There is something far more important for us to watch for.

 

We have the great responsibility, friends, of being watchful for Jesus. Nobody else is going to do that for us. Nobody else is going to make you be someone who lives a consecrated life to know the truth. You have to do that.

 

The world wants to intoxicate you, the world wants to put you to sleep. The world wants to confuse your children. The world wants to chew you up, spit you out, and laugh at you while you are lying there bleeding out.

 

Don’t let them. Be watchful. Jesus is coming back—soon. He wants to find us watching for Him and living the life He wants for us.

 

Why would somebody not be watchful for Jesus? Because they’re not hopeful in Jesus.

 

They’re not looking for Him to show up. If your kids are screwed up, keep working on it, but be expecting God Almighty to show up and change everything. Maybe your husband’s losing his mind over things. Decide, we’re going to deal with these things, but I have a God who sees me, and He’s going to show up. If you can’t pay your bills and you don’t know what’s going to happen, decide to put your hope in King Jesus. The Lord knows you. The Lord God Almighty will fight your cause. You watch. He’s going to show up.

 

Don’t let your hope die; don’t let your circumstances determine your future. If you’re not hopeful in Him, you won’t be watchful. If you don’t have a priority for Him, you won’t be watchful, and you will miss what He wants to do. Guard your heart against letting the world kill your hope. If you don’t guard your heart, you can’t guard your nation, your community, or your family! 

Declaration: The Lord of my life is faithful and true, and I know He loves me. I will stand and watch for Him to come into the situations of my life and bring goodness. I will not let my hope and my faith die. I will be strong and courageous. He gave me this life; I will live it for Him.

KINGDOM PREPPING

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. – 1 Peter 2:9

So here is your overcomer’s kit for getting through the days that are coming, and it all has to do with truth and goodness.

Love Good and Hate Evil ~ Love what is good. Do good. Celebrate selfless, good things. Have a huge value for the betterment of other people. Remember that good overcomes evil. Have the kingdom’s perspective of selfless giving and transformation as good. Work to bring the geography of heaven into this earth. Live as a redeemed community in the midst of an ungodly society. Love what God loves and hate what God hates. 

 

Search After and Fall In Love With God’s Heart ~ Demonstrate God’s heart and attitude towards other people. Keep yourself passionate about what God is passionate about. The sky is not falling. The Kingdom is coming. Make sure you love some people into it before it’s too late. 

 

Influence Everything With God’s Goodness ~ Post and publish any good thing you see or know about. Be a thermostat and not a thermometer. Set a different tone with goodness and have a different word of hope. Live according to a different spirit than the rest of the world and know that good overcomes evil. 

 

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. – John 1:1-5 

 

Don’t be famous for who you stand against. Be known for who you stand with – Jesus. Be known for what you do, not what you don’t do. Make sure it is good. Make it your purpose to make God’s goodness known.

 

We have the glorious, yet terrible, privilege of serving Him as priestly servants. The days are growing darker; bring the Light into the dark places and make Jesus famous.

 

Declaration: My soul will magnify the Lord. Making Him my focus and living in His ways will prepare me to share His love and light in the world. Evil will be overcome because of His amazing goodness.

SPEAK, LORD; I’M LISTENING

SPEAK, LORD; I’M LISTENING

“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12 NKJV 

Jesus was 100 percent God, but guess what? He was also 100 percent man, and the Bible says He laid aside His rights as God and lived just like you and I do. As a man, Jesus was very aware of the different parts of His life; the soul-ish emotions and the spirit-emotions. Your soul-ish emotions aren’t necessarily evil. They’re just part of the human experience. You’re not bad when you feel things. You’re bad when you turn it over to your carnal nature instead of your spirit-nature. 

Jesus knew and expressed emotion, and He understood the difference between soul-ish emotions and spirit emotions. He kept it in check by His Spirit. Why? Because He knew it was coming from His soul, therefore His Spirit would have dominion over that.  

You need to let the Spirit of the Living God be expressed through your life. You have to know the difference between your spiritual realm and your soul realm because sometimes you’re feeling something that’s coming out of your soul and other times it’s coming out of your spirit. Sometimes, they’re linked up. They’re in tandem, and that’s a powerful emotional place. 

You need to know the difference because your spirit-man must have dominion over your soul or you’re going to be out of control and unstable. Your entire life will be about trying to pick up the pieces from when you last fell out.

How can you know the difference between your soul and your spirit? It’s the Word of God. It’s hearing God speak and getting the Word of God in your life. You have to know the difference between your soul and your spirit. The Word of God comes into your thinking and separates life from death, truth from lies, and light from darkness. Why do you need to know that? Because your spirit is where you steer your life from. You have to speak directly from your spirit into your own soul. 

Jesus said He only did and said what His Father said. He went up on the mountain often, leaving others behind, and He listened to His Father. 

Declaration: My heart is grateful that Jesus came to earth and modeled how to live as a human who was guided by the Spirit of the Living God. Holy Spirit, come fill me up, bring truth and understanding to my soul. Open my spiritual ears so I can hear God in all the ways He speaks to me.

TIME FOR REFLECTION

TIME FOR REFLECTION

This year, we moved from Psalms 23 to Psalms 24. Psalms 23 is about God visiting you in the midst of all of your hell. Psalms 24 is about God pulling you up out of that hell and inviting you up into His mighty presence. It’s one thing for God’s presence to be with you. It’s another thing for you to be with Him.

This has been a year where we had to live at the altar in the midst of an altered state. We needed to be all about the presence of the Lord. We had to be “encounter people.” That is a throne room experience.

Take time to reflect on your spiritual journey this year. King David asked important questions. One we searched out is, Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? And who may stand in His holy place?”

In Acts chapter 2, when the Holy Ghost fell, two questions were asked. “What does this mean?” and “What should we do?” Those are questions we should ask. They acknowledge Him and ask for clarity and direction.

You may want to ask the Lord some questions about this year. Here are some other right questions to ask the Lord:

God, is there something you wish I knew that I do not know? The Lord will answer that. Wouldn’t you bless and love your child if they came to you as a parent and said, “Dad, is there something you wish I knew that I don’t know?”

God, am I focused on something that distracts and keeps me from seeing the things that you want me to see?

God, is there something that I can do that I don’t know that I can do? What am I missing, Lord? Show me.

God, is there a promise or something amazing in my future that will help me have the courage to get through what I’m going through today?

God, what makes you happy in this situation?

Listen carefully to His answers; they are treasures from Him.

Declaration: My God has planned every moment of every season and time. I am grateful that He gave me this year. I want to know Him better, so I make time for Him and draw closer so I can hear His heartbeat.
