Daily Meditations of a Nurse Warrior
What will it take for you to take root and stand firm in a faith that will take care of you?
When we believe and have a faith so strong that will withstand hardship, struggle, adversity and even the weather, He will be there to help, just as he was for Elijah. Elijah hoped for rain (1 Kings 18:41-46); and with a faith so strong, "He [supplied and] supplies the earth with rain" (Psalm 147:8); and, if need be, He "spreads the snow like wool" (147:16). So, should more issues arise, know that your faith, too, can even withstand the weather. #ABeliever OR #StillASkeptic

Daily Meditations of a Nurse Warrior
James poses the question: "What is your life?"; and then answers the question by responding that "You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes" (4:14). As you ponder this question and answer, by James, you and I are reminded that we will not live forever; and the sooner that we accept this sobering and humbling fate, the sooner we can enjoy and appreciate what time we have remaining here on this earth. #Mementomori

What are you willing to sacrifice for success?
Much sacrifice is made in order to be successful; and it is a person who not only thinks of themselves but also of others. Instead of making a life for himself, "Jesus Christ laid down his life for us" (1 John 3:16). He sacrificed everything for us. So, as you consider what you are willing to sacrifice in order to be successful, remember what He sacrificed for you. #NotJustYou #MoreThanYourself & #NoSuccessWithoutSacrifice

How much is enough?
No matter who we are and what we want, we don't always get what we desire. Such a person was Adonijah, son of King David, one who "put himself forward and said, "I will be king" (1 Kings 1:5). In trying to take the throne, twice, the first time out of rebellion, but was denied (see 1:11-53), and the second time, trying to steal, but was killed (see 2:13-25). So, as you consider your wants and desires, might you consider Jesus who "humbled himself by becoming obedient to death-even death on a cross" (Phillippians 2:8). #Selfish OR #SelflessDesires #WhatsItAllWorth

What is keeping you from getting a "sweet" nights sleep?
Trying to sleep but can't turn the day off because you are looking towards tomorrow's tasks and meetings with dreaded colleagues? Life and difficult relationships never stop; and the to-do's will be there tomorrow and the day after and the day after that. As we try to hold it together and keep up with everything, we also must learn to prioritize what is most important and, hopefully, getting enough sleep is one of them. In order to help you find that "sweet" night sleep so that you are able to keep up and do your work well, King Solomon encourages you to seek the man that can help you; and when it is time to "lie down, you will not be afraid [and] your sleep will be sweet" (Proverbs 3:24). #SweetDreams

How many sides does a coin have? Two, right? Suffering has two sides as well: one side that is not so pleasant, difficult and very uncomfortable; and the other side that is revealing, clarifying and even joyful. It is when we experience the worst that we are then able to experience our best, "because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope" (Romans 5:3-4). Consider allowing Him to help you see and experience both sides. #TwoSides & #ASilverLining

Aside from life and lands volatile climate, what do you see in its landscape that is good?
Inundated with a great deal of volatility, we can still enjoy the beauty of His creation. Of His many masterful designs, he also chose to "let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it" (Genesis 1:11). Having done so also allows us to enjoy the bounty and not just the beauty. Consider taking in what is good in the world that was created for us to enjoy. #TakeItAllIn & #SavorTheGoodness

Second chances do not come by very often, but they do; and if given one, what would you do with it?
If we know and believe in Him, we have the opportunity to receive a second chance. Paul reminds us that "if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" (2 Corinthians 5:17). So, as you consider your second chance, know why you are receiving it, because if it wasn't for Him, you may never get another one. #SecondChances

How humble are you?
A me, me, me mentality is a sure fire way to isolate yourself from others. Such actions are not sustainable, unless you want to be alone. What is sustainable is when "[we] say to the LORD, you are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing" (Psalm 16:2). When we know where we come from and remain humbly rooted, He will help us get to where we are going without having to be boastful, arrogant or conceited. #RemainHumble & #Gracious

Whom should we love?
Everyone. We all need and deserve to be loved; and no one knows this more than Love himself. He does not single anyone out; because "whatever [he] did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, [he] did for me" (Matthew 25:40). Just as He loves us, consider taking the love that he gives to us and share it with others so that they, too, know what it is to be loved. #LoveAlwaysXOXO
