How giving are you?

Commonly identified with giving is money. The beauty of giving is that is comes in many forms. If not money, you can give of your time, by volunteering, or offer a compliment with a kind word or smile. As a reminder, we are told by someone, who sacrificed much in order to give us everything, to "do the works of him who sent me," "as long as it is day" (John 9:4). While you are living, consider giving and experience the fruits of your generosity, just as He has done and continues to do for us. #GiveWhatYouCan

How willing are you to learn?

Our ability to learn begins at a very early age; and when we begin to engage and allow ourselves to learn, we become better equipped to live in this world because of the wisdom that we acquire. Proverbs advises and says to us to "let the wise listen and add to their learning" (1:5). So, if you want to continue to grow and deepen your learning, never allow it to be interrupted. #AWiseLearner

How awake are you?

Mistakes happen and some can be costly. For Peter, James and John, their mistake came when they failed to stay awake and "keep watch" with Jesus (Matthew 26:38). Revealed was their lack of spiritual vigilance, especially with this being the hour that Christ needed them the most. Therefore, in order to remain attentive and keep mistakes from happening, we are encouraged to "watch and pray so that [we] will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak" (26:41). #Watchful #Wareful & #WideAwake

How willing are you to ask for help, especially when you need it?

Life can present us with situations that can cause us to lose our way; just "like sheep [that] have gone astray" (Isaiah 53:6). Fortunately, there is someone who has chosen to take on the burden of our iniquities (see 53:6). This someone does so because He can relate to what we are going through and wants to help. So, if you have gone astray, consider reaching out to Him, because He will take care of you. #AHelpingHand #NeverAlone #NeverTooProud & #NoJudgement

How will you withstand the storms of life?

Tornadoes, hurricanes, typhoons and blizzards will happen; and in order to withstand which ever storm comes our way, we are called to "run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith" (Hebrews 12:1-2) "so that [we] will not grow weary and lose heart" (12:3). So, when the next storm takes place consider "strengthen[ing] your feeble arms and weak knees" (12:12), like the Jews, and remain hopeful and faithful by standing in Him. #RemainResilient #Courageous & #Strong #MLK2022

How light or dark is your life?

The world around us is filled with a great deal of darkness. Despite this darkness, we do not have to live within it, because of Jesus. He was brought in to this world, as one of us, to bring light in to the darkness (see John 1:4-5; 8:12); and for those who follow Him, they "will never walk in darkness" because they "will have the light of life" (8:12). I pray that you consider allowing Him to enter your life, especially if he hasn't already, so that you too can experience living in the light. #NoMoreDarkness

n order for us to be here today, many have sacrificed much; for instance, the families who sacrificed a spotless lamb so that their oldest sons may live (see Exodus 12:6-7, 12-13). Even more so, sacrificing everything, for us, is God himself. God sacrificed his one and only son so that he could die for our sins. So, what are you willing to sacrifice? #SelfSacrifice

What kind of words do you use?

There are words that carry significant meaning, and such words that do are His. If we choose to use His words, we are encouraged, by James, to "humbly accept the word planted in [us]" (1:21) and to "not merely listen to the word, and so deceive [our]selves, but to do what it says" (1:22). If not, and we still choose to use His words, then we are "like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets who he looks like" (1:23-24). I encourage you to choose words that you use very carefully, because they will have no meaning when they are not utilized as they are intended to. #Meaningful OR #Meaningless

Listening is a two-way street; and when it is your turn, how well do you listen? Before you answer, you might want to hear what Jeremiah chose to do. God told Jeremiah to "buy [the] field at Anathoth in the territory of Benjamin" (Jeremiah 32:8), while the entire country was being besieged (see 32:2). As foolish as it sounded, Jeremiah listened to God and "bought the field" (32:9), because "this was the word of the LORD" (32:8). So, when He speaks, it behooves us to listen, just as Jeremiah did, because He, a visionary, sees what we do not. It is worth our time and future to listen to Him and listen well. #Listeningis #GoodSense & #GoodCents

What will it take for you to be heard?

Two Chronicles shows us how. Just like yesterday, and again today, out of His goodness, we are promised something else, the courtesy of being listened to. The Lord says that "if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and heal their land" (7:14). So, if this is what you seek and can meet the requirements, then you have come to the right place to be heard. #AGreatListener
