ANW's Thoughtful Thursday
How teachable are you?
There are two kinds of teachers, Wisdom and Folly (see Proverbs 9:1-6; 13-18). Wisdom tries to add to your learning and, with dignity, helps you become wiser (see 9:9); whereas Folly's teachings are viewed and taken as insults because they are corrective and constructive in nature.
I was a student of Folly, for many years, stubborn and unwilling to step away from a work environment that was extremely toxic and unhealthy; and for not listening, I paid dearly with a stress-induced heart attack. After Folly had its way with me, I found a wise teacher named Wisdom, "the Hold One" (9:10), and became His student; and to this day, He continues to teach me and "[adds] to [my] learning" and helps me "walk in the way of insight" (9:6).
So, if you want to "[become] wiser" (9:9), might you remove Folly and "choose life...love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him" (Deuteronomy 30:19-20). #RemainTeachable & #NeverStopLearningAndGrowing

ANW's Wisdom Wednesday
What needs lit?
Darkness lingers if you let it; and the longer it lingers, the darker it gets.
Taking me to the "land of deep darkness" (Isaiah 9:2) was working in toxic conditions. The longer I stayed, the worse it got. And, as time when by, the brightness faded and became dimmer by the day until I could not see anything anymore. When the lights went out, "a great light...dawned" (9:2) in the form of an stress-induced heart attack. Since then, my light has become bright once again, maybe even the brightest ever, because Christ, "the light of the world" (John 8:12), re-lit it.
So, if there is any darkness in your life that is keeping you from living, might you let Him light it back up. #LiveLightAndBright

ANW's Takeaway Tuesday
How do you survive the rough waters?
The waters can get rocky out there; and if stirred up enough they will swallow you up if you are not careful.
For years, I treaded in waters that were very toxic and dangerous, even after being several flares, which I ignored. Then, one day, just as the rip currents appeared, Christ rescued me right before they pulled me under and out to the deep abyss forever. But, the storms were far from over. The next one came in the form of an stress-induced heart attack, which was sudden, wicked, and lengthy. After spending much time on shore recovering, I have learned that the only reason I am here "is by [his] grace" [and that I] have been saved, through faith" (Ephesians 2:8).
So, if you are stranded in deep waters or struggling to stay afloat, He is ready to cast out a buoy and save you. #TakeALeap & #Jump

ANW's Meaningful Monday
How can you be resurrected?
Not only have I been saved once, but twice.
The first save happened when "we died with Christ" (Romans 6:8) to be "set free from sin" (6:7); and the second save came when I suffered a sudden stress-induced heart attack at work. He immediately removed and resuscitated me. Then, over the next seven and a half years, He restored, renewed, and revitalized me and my life to a much happier and healthier one. And because of what He has done for me, I continue to try and help others, but, now, through Him, "the resurrection and the life" (John 11:25).
So, if you, too, need more saving, might you seek the one who already lives within you, your first save, and continues to give you life because of His righteousness (see Romans 8:10-11). #Acknowledge & #Ask

ANW's Savory Sunday
What are you trying to find?
Sometimes it takes losing something only to find it and realize the value that it has and holds.
For me, I lost my health and home; and it has take a great deal of time to get it back. But, through losing, I have found how to love bigger; not let my joy or happiness be stolen; treasure my time; get stronger; trust again; care again; be more patient; heal when hurt; not fear anything; gain as much knowledge and wisdom that I can; continue to persevere; believe in myself; always be at peace; remain calm; never worry; breathe and often; help and support wherever I can; remain courageous; know my surroundings; always have faith; hope for the best; remain focused; always be present; and most importantly to always pray; and the only way that I have been able to find them, again, is through Christ.
So, if you are still searching for something that you have lost, might you, too, ask Him to help you find it. For when you "seek...you shall find" (Matthew 7:7 ESV). Just "knock and the door will open to you" (7:7). #GetToLooking & #SearchInTheRightPlaces

ANW's Soulful Saturday
What helps you get through the rough terrain, barren lands, and wilderness?
Whatever danger, obstacle, challenge, or hardship you face, you are never alone; and those that know this know God.
Reflecting, I see how present God has been my entire life and am most grateful and thankful that He has. There has not been one moment that He has not been present; and with each one He has helped, guided, and provided, and continues to lead me to "the land flowing with milk and honey" (Exodus 3:8).
So, if you, too, would like to take advantage of His presence, just open your heart and let Him in. "As [He] was with Moses, so [He] will be with you; [He] will never leave you nor forsake you" (Joshua 1:5). #AlwaysPresent & #AlwaysHelping

ANW's Fruitful Friday
What beauty has derived from your tragedy?
It is difficult to see any beauty in tragedy, as the enormous sorrow and suffering and distress and destruction can be overwhelming and devastating. Yet, it does happen, and beauty will eventually reveal itself.
Not sure I would have believed this seven years ago, as I found myself in a tragic situation, after functioning for years in a toxic working environment that was considered a soft concern. You either got over it and handled it on your own or you didn't. I tried, and continued to stay, but my heart told me otherwise. Tragically, I suffered an stress-induced heart at work. I thought to myself, how is almost losing my life beautiful.
Today, I see and experience 46 reasons and counting, why this tragedy is so beautiful, as God has restored my life. Instead of heading to work and dreading, fearing, or worrying about what is going to happen, I, now, look forward to going to work, every day, with no fear or worry, only joy, peace, and happiness. What could be more beautiful than that.
So, every day, I give thanks to God who has lived through tragedy, "the obedience of" (Romans 5:19) His son, so we can benefit from His beauty, "[being] made righteous" (5:19). #ABeautifulLife

ANW's Thoughtful Thursday
How do you manage fear?
Fear is dangerous and threatening and will take control of your life if you let it.
For the last seven years, I have let fear take control. After many years of assuming goodwill and trusting in people that I thought were trustworthy and were not, along with being left to die, I have been on guard waiting for the next punch or kick. And, while living like this, I have cheated myself and missed out on much. But, fortunately, at the same time, I have learned how to trust again and not fear anything, because "The Lord is with me" (Psalm 118:6) wherever I go and whatever I do. He is my daily "helper" (118:7), "strength", and "defense" (118:14).
So, if you, too, struggle with fear and need help removing it, might you consider getting to know a man who will help you to never "be afraid" (118:6) again. #FearNot

ANW's Wisdom Wednesday
How do you know if it is coincidence or care?
There are no coincidences only timely care-filled actions.
Struggling with an unhealthy work environment, yet young and healthy, I had a sudden heart attack in my office. A coincidence, no; but a very strong warning, as well as prompt, from a man who cares deeply for His family. His timing was impeccable and life saving; and because of what He did, I am, now, happier and healthier for the health scare.
Aside from myself, He has helped many others too.
A Shunem woman and her family were blessed with a warning by God. He "decreed a famine", and she and her family were told, by Elisa, to "go away...and stay for a while" (2 Kings 8:1). After seven years, she returned, and was able to reclaim everything that she left behind (see 8:6).
So, when things that happen seem coincidental, they are not. They are caring acts bestowed upon those who know and trust God; and if you would like to be blessed with His goodness, just ask and He will take great care of you. #AlwaysIntentionalCare

ANW's Takeaway Tuesday
What sense of urgency do you have?
When one's wellbeing is compromised, unnecessarily, there is cause for urgency. Mine is and continues to be promoting healthy environments so people can thrive, not just exist and be miserable or die in them.
Working as a Nurse in a profession that has allowed bad behavior aka Incivility, for many years, is a problem; and seeing Nurses, including myself, being hurt and harmed, senselessly, is not acceptable. In an effort to help, "I have not hesitated to preach anything that would be helpful" (Acts 20:20), even among the many years of painful "tears" and "severe testing" (20:19) that I have experienced because of what has gone on. And, it is with "great humility" (20:19) that I try to do so.
So, if you, too, would like all environments to be happy and healthy, might you, too, spread "the good news" (20:24) with me. #CreateAndSustainHealthyEnvironments
