ANW’s Wisdom Wednesday

ANW’s Wisdom Wednesday

What do you recognize?

To recognize is to see, acknowledge, and know; and if you do not, you cannot.

Not too long ago, I could not recognize myself, as I got lost in a career and profession, Nursing, that slowly stripped me of my mind, body, and soul, until, one day, He “opened” my “eyes”, with a heart attack, and I “recognized Him” (Luke 24:31); and with time eventually my old but new self again, a better one.

So, if you find yourself struggling to recognize anything, might you, too, consider asking Him to help you see in ways that will help you to grasp and appreciate life. #SeeEverything❤️

ANW’s Takeaway Tuesday

How well do you know your body?

If you listen to your body, it will tell you what you need and when you need it; and if you do not, it will take matters in its own hands.

I did not listen to my body, my whole body-mind, body and soul, as all three function in conjunction with one another. And, because I did not listen, my heart paid a dear price with an stress-induced heart attack, which was triggered by a toxic work environment. And, being young and fit had no relevance.

So, as you consider the importance of your health, might you remember that when the stresses of life or work start to work against you keep “the seventh day” “holy” (Exodus 20:8 NIV) and get the rest that you need so you can “do all your work” the other “six days” (20:9). #HonorHim & #Rest #Replenish & #MaintainYourWellbeing

ANW’s Meaningful Monday

How daring are you?

Life is full of dares; and with dares come risks. But, dares, too, come with rewards. And, it is those who are willing to take a chance that will find out what comes out of them.

Young and naive, maybe, but for years, I dared to fight for a better Nursing, only to be ignored and dismissed; and, maybe, still, naive, but older, and hopefully wiser, today, I still dare to fight for the same cause, a better Nursing, because I have the love, support, and help to try and do so.

So, if you are unsure whether to take the dare and risks that come with them, might you remember that He will “never…leave you” or “forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5). #DareToTry #DareToFail & #DareToWin

ANW’s Savory Sunday

ANW’s Savory Sunday

What fears do you have; and how healthy are they?

If not careful, fear can hinder, debilitate, and cost you.

In an effort to create positive change, within Nursing, I developed unhealthy fears that were created through constant rejection and conflict; and instead of leaving them, I held on to them and took them with me outside of work. Finally, I got help; and found the healthy kind, as He has built me an “enduring” “dynasty” (1 Kings 11:38) that protects me and keeps promises.

So, if you find yourself defensive, reluctant, or reactive, might you consider seeking healthier ways to deal with your fears rather than ones that only get in your way and cause you to stop living. #FaithfullyFearful

ANW’s Soulful Saturday

How full is your table?

Tables are meant to be filled; yet many are not due to differences. Overlooking and embracing differences was Jesus, as he invited zealots (see Matthew 10:3-4, 3:17), a tax collector, and a betrayer to share his “body” (26:26) and “blood” (26:28) with them. So, if your table is bare and you would like to fill it up, might you consider opening your heart and home. #TheMoreTheMerrier

ANW's Fruitful Friday

How do you keep from getting robbed?

Many are being robbed of their valuables, in particular, health and happiness, every day; and robbing itself is Nursing, due to the Incivility tolerance that is taking a toll on its Nurses and their well-being.

I know this, because it robbed me, for almost twenty years, of my joy, happiness, and health, until God stepped in to "rescue [me] from the hand of the oppressor" (Jeremiah 22:3), Nursing. Now, after taking time to recover from the robbery, I fight against, but also for Nursing, but as A Nurse Warrior, ANW, through a personal book and a website filled with daily insights and products that help restore and rebuild lives and love for others who have been robbed too.

So, if you want to help recover what has been robbed from you or another, might you help us both and also "do what is just and right" (22:3). #RecoverYourValuables

ANW's Thoughtful Thursdays

What darkness is obstructing your light?

"Darkness" impedes the light; and the only way to remove the "darkness" is to "expose" whatever is causing the "darkness" (Ephesians 5:11).

"The fruitless deeds of darkness" kept me in the dark, for years, affecting every aspect of my life, until one day the "darkness" (5:11), Nursing Incivility, broke me. Once removed, I slowly found my way out of the "darkness" (5:11), after walking in the "darkness" for so long; and now, I live and walk, again, but in "goodness, righteousness, and truth" (5:9-10), and can see where I am going and what I am doing. The dark days of unkindness are over.

So, if you "look carefully...how you walk" (5:15 ESV), you will know if your gait is bright or dark; and if it is dark and you need a "light", might you let Jesus's light "shine on you" so you can "walk in the way of love" (5:1-2). #RemoveAnyDarkness & #LightItUp

ANW's Wisdom Wednesday

How well do you follow the royal law?

Your neighbors are not just next door, as they are everywhere where you go. And, regardless of how they behave, "the royal law" is to "love your neighbor as yourself" (James 2:8).

I have struggled to follow "the royal law" for many years, especially at work. Most of my work neighbors, were rude, disrespectful, dishonest, unkind, uncaring, unsupportive, and took no accountability or responsibility for their actions. Yet, I honored them; was "not self-seeking"; delighted in good and not "evil"; and "[rejoiced] with the truth" (1 Corinthians 13:5-6), until I was physically taken out of the hazardous neighborhood.

So, if you already have great neighbors, count yourself blessed; if not, might you remember when you do not, and still "keep the royal law" (James 2:8) and "be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry"(1:19) with your neighbors. #HonoringNeighborlyLove

ANW's Takeaway Tuesday

What keeps loneliness away?

Loneliness can leave you depressed, sad, numb, unhappy, and isolated, with or without others around.

For a long time, I, too, experienced loneliness when working within and trying to help mend a broken profession; and in turn, it broke me. While recovering from being broken, early on, for 6 months or so, I became even lonelier. As I floundered to reconnect, I realized that I was never alone. The Lord had never left me. I just could not see Him amongst the pain and devastation. And, once I realized He was always there, he has taught me to "not be afraid" or "discouraged", (Deuteronomy 31:8), because he "goes before [me] and will be with [me]; ...will never leave [me] nor "forsake me" (31:8); and, since then, I have never once felt alone.

So, if you are struggling with loneliness, might you, too, consider reaching out to Him; and when you do, He will keep you company wherever you go and whatever you do. #ACompanionForLife

ANW's Meaningful Monday

What keeps you from trusting and losing faith?

Dishonesty destroys trust, along with the ability to have faith; and taking both away from me was Nursing.

While trying to help the Nursing profession, for many years, they hurt me, along with my family, colleagues, and its own self. Fortunately, coming to my rescue and slowly restoring my faith and trust is a man who has always kept His "word" (Isaiah 40:8). Time and time, again, He has answered every one of my asks, cries, and pleas, both personally and professionally; and, in return, I "give thanks to [Him]" (40:8).

So, if your faith and trust has been shaken, like mine, and you need someone who you can count on and will never let you down, might you reach out to the one whose "word" and "love endures forever" (40:8). #Trustworthy & #Faithful & #KeepsEveryPromise
