Makers Gonna Make

Decided to make a fun little spread in a new Brit + Co planner I got while visiting San Fran last month. Used fun supplies from my shop (the floral stamp repeated all over Makers Gonna Make is from the Gratitude set) along with my latest collection, Hustle & Heart. I used my favorite Tombow brush markers to create a list of Crafty Projects I want to make.

Brit + Co planners and goodies can be found exclusively at Target. They also have a great little article up called Planner Goals: How 6 Boss Ladies Stay Organized and Personalize Their Planners that I was interviewed for here. I also shared a bit of the process of decorating this in my latest Favorites video on YouTube. What's on your list of crafty projects?

Zinia's Watercolor Dashboard
Hello everyone! It’s Zinia here and today I’ll share with a really fun dashboard idea using some of my favorite Amy Tan clear stickers.
You can adjust this idea and make a dashboard for any type of planner you are using but in my example, I’m going to make one for my traveler’s notebook.

The first step is to cut the base of your dashboard according to the size and planner you are using. Make sure you use a thick type of paper, preferably watercolor paper so that it won’t curl a lot once we add water to it.
Then comes the fun part! Grab your clear sticker sheets and create a fun colorful pattern by filling the page with all the different shapes and icons you love. Start with the bigger stickers, spread them across the page, and then start filling the gaps with the smaller ones.

Try not to overthink it, just have fun and enjoy the process without worrying about making it look perfect.
Once the whole area is covered grabbed your watercolor crayons and scribble some color between the stickers. Avoid putting complimentary colors next to each other so you won’t end up with some ugly brown spots.

You don’t need to add a lot of color, just a few lines here and there. When you add water and start diluting them the color will spread and cover the whole area.

Depending on the type of paper you use, it’s very likely that the scribbles on your page won’t get diluted completely and they will leave some marks. I personally love that look, I think it makes it look more unique and whimsical but if you want a smoother coverage you can scribble the crayons on a palette and pick the colors with your brush.

Before everything dries, take a paper towel and wipe any excess color that sits on top of the stickers. They will work as a resist and create a really beautiful look.
Have fun with different stickers and color combinations to create gorgeous accessories for your planners or any other project.

Bullet Journaling Feature on Craft Industry Alliance!

Recently, I was interviewed about bullet journaling for a blog post on craftindustryalliance.org! The CIA (no, not that one!) is a wonderful community and an excellent resource for craft professionals, so I was excited to answer some of their questions about one of my absolute favorite topics.
We discussed the flexibility of the bullet journal and the wealth of products out there that are designed to help creative people construct their own custom planners. I even recommended some of my favorites to get you started! I didn't mention my stamps in the article, but you can grab ones that I love using from my shop.
The post also features a bunch more bullet journaling experts including Ryder Carroll himself, the creator of the Bullet Journal! To read the article and learn a little more about bullet journaling, click here.
If you’re as into bullet journaling as I am, leave a comment below telling us your best advice to someone who might want to start! That way, if anyone reading is new to the whole craze and maybe a little overwhelmed, they can read the comments for some help!

Color Factory

Last week while I was up in San Francisco for a quick day trip, I was able to check out the new Color Factory and it was AMAZING. It just opened today and I highly recommend you go and reserve tickets! I took my friend Pamelyn from Bashery & Co and met up with Alisha and some friends for the fun.

I had to vlog the experience, as it was everything you would imagine it to be and more.
Photos by LISH Creative - You can see Alisha's post here, which includes a fun video. We are already planning a trip back as there is a map we picked up at the end that shows 17 other activations throughout the city, including colorful murals that will only be up for a limited amount of time!
There are a couple sneak peeks at the next Fresh Squeezed Fashion Tees, which will be available to subscribers on August 9 through Aug 14!
Also, I am SUPER EXCITED to share that I will be teaching in the UK for the first time in late October with Birds of a Feather at Chateau Impney! It will be a really fun-filled weekend - come join us!

Zinia's Big Floral Cluster Layout
Hello everyone, it’s Zinia (aka Abstract Inspiration) and today I’d like to share with you a very easy and fun layout design you can create using only a few items.

The inspiration came from the big floral paper that comes in the On a Whim collection. I really wanted to fussy cut some pieces and create a flowerpot of some sort. So after I cut a bunch of the flowers, I went to my paper stash to find a nice pattern for my base.
I found this beautiful red striped paper but once I cut out a strip I fell in love with the way it looked spreading from one edge of the paper to the other. So instead of cutting it into a pot, I left it as is and starting building my flower cluster across the whole page.

Luckily, the flowers were big enough so I didn’t have a problem covering a big area with them. To make my cluster more interesting, I grabbed the On a Whim and Oh Happy Life sticker sheets and pulled more floral images and leaves. I used the floral stickers to fill the gaps between the bigger flowers and also balance the colors through the layout.

I didn’t want my title to be distracting so I picked some white foam words from the Oh Happy Life thicker pack and placed them vertically on the red striped paper. The red color was bright enough to create a nice contrast and still let the title pop a bit.
As for my photo, I used a black and white picture to help it stand out since everything else on this page was so bright and vibrant.

This design is really so easy and fun to make and as I said earlier you only need very minimal supplies. You can try different color combinations and patterns as well as mixing different types of flowers.
I really hope you enjoyed it and you will give it a go.
