Live Inspired Podcast

Live Inspired Podcast Interview with Amy Tangerine

Recently I had a great conversation with Tracie Claiborne about the process of self-publishing and other insights into writing a book on her podcast, Live Inspired. I'm passionate about sharing my experiences with others, so being able to discuss the trajectory of the book-making journey is such a treat. Tracie is a gracious host and totally made me blush when she declared that my book is now her "go-to manual on living a creative life." What! That's a huge compliment. I am so thrilled that my words are inspiring others.

You can here our conversation here and, as always, find my book here (currently only $19 instead of $25 for a short time) - Thanks so much for your support!

Fashion Friday | California Dreaming Mural

IMG_2338.JPG

We have been getting a mix of interesting weather in Los Angeles this winter. The sunshine tax we pay for living here has definitely not been worth it this winter. In my thirteen years of being a local, I don't recall the winters ever being this way before. One day it will be 70 degrees and sunny and then it will rain for three days straight. I'm not complaining, as I am well aware that in spite of all the rain we've had, we are still in a drought. On the bright side though, I put a little spring into my step after seeing this freshly painted mural in Culver City. It's huge - 26 feet X 74 feet - and was completed February 1st by artist Ricardo Gonzalez of It's A Living.  It's at the Chinese Laundry headquarters and faces East, so if the sun is shining, I recommend going in the late afternoon. If it's overcast and cloudy go anytime, as you won't get a strange shadow that is typically on it all morning and early afternoon.

We caught the very last bit of light and Alisha from Lish Creative worked her magic and snapped these photos just in time. I paired the Cynthia Floral Skirt in Fuchsia/Teal/White from Cents of Style with a simple white long sleeve shirt and a borrowed denim jacket (the embroidery says "mommy" in case you are trying to read it). The bright and poppy colors of the skirt paired with these grey boots are my new favorite combination. And ladies, there may have never been a more comfortable pencil skirt. Ever. Because of the stretchy fabric and versatile colors, I may have worn it two days in a row. I simply changed it up with a black jacket and a different white tee shirt. I also paired it with my yellow Tieks and it might be what I will be living in all Spring. It would look amazing paired with these fuchsia Tieks, which are the next on my wishlist. You can see all the Fashion Friday floral skirts here. DISCOUNT CODE for a limited time, all floral skirts are $19.95 with the code FLORAL STORY!

Happy Friday and let me know in the comments if you make it to this mural!

Valentine's Day Idea | Photo Canvases + Mixbook discount code

Creating Quick + Easy Wall Art with Mixbook Photo Canvases | Amy Tangerine

Last summer we had Christian + Reinna take our photos at our favorite LA beach and I love how they turned out! Not only do they capture my little family so well but the colors in each image fit my home decor perfectly. Thanks to Mixbook, I was able to create three beautiful canvases in a matter of minutes and will be gifting them to JC for Valentine's Day. Once they arrived, I couldn't wait to get them on my walls, which sort of spoils the surprise element, but is great because we get to enjoy them a little early!

Since JC and I are constantly restyling our home, I decided to use Velcro Hangables. Following the instructions on the packing, I simply attached the strips to the back of each 8x10 canvas and hung them on the wall!

This entire project took less than ten minutes from start to finish.

2017 Amy Tangerine Design Team Call!!

Amy Tangerine Watercolor tags

As I ease back into the routine after an amazing Creativation (formerly CHA show), where I debuted my latest collection with American Crafts, I am excited to announce the 2017 call for Amy Tangerine design team members! It's the first time we are doing something like this and I can't wait to have some talented creatives be a part of Team Tangerine. One of the best parts about my collaboration with AC is seeing my ideas come to life on your papercrafting projects. It feels like such a treat to be a part of your memories! If you're interested in becoming one of my design team members and are willing to share 3 (sometimes 4) projects of your creations per month on social media and contribute to this blog, please send an email to amytangerineDT@gmail.com by February 5, 2017 and include the following information:

1. LINKS. Link(s) to your blog and Instagram account (if applicable) - basically wherever you share your paper projects on the internet

2. ABOUT YOU. A short paragraph about yourself, including: where you're from, how long you've been scrabooking and/or papercrafting, what you love about Amy Tangerine products, and how you would describe your style. Also include whether you are currently on any other design teams and which ones.

3. PHOTOS. Attach .jpegs of 2 scrapbook layouts, 1 card or planner spread, and 1 other type of project that best showcases your style (mini album, pocket page spread, planner spread). Photos must be 1500 px wide or smaller - please no more than 1MB in size - large attachments will not be accepted or considered. Thanks for understanding!

Please use: DT 2017 in the subject line so we don't miss your application.

2017 design team members will be notified via e-mail by Monday February 13th and announced here on the blog in late February. Thanks so much!

BIG BOOK ANNOUNCEMENT!!

Craft A Life You Love by Amy Tangerine is now available!

It's here! It's finally here! I'm so excited to share that my new book is now available on Amazon! This is a dream come true for me, as it feels like it has been years in the making.

There was something about the beginning of last year that actually made me take the plunge and dive right in to something I have been wanting to write for a very long time. I considered going the traditional route and trying to pitch and partner with a major publishing company, but then I learned that I could self-publish on Amazon and that was all it took for me to commit to the project. I wanted my book to be available to you all as fast as possible so by publishing on Amazon, it can be printed ON DEMAND and in your hands in a few short days. (Does that blow your mind a little bit?!)

If you're a longtime reader of my blog, then you are well aware that I am very passionate about cultivating a rich and fulfilling life, and sharing my experiences with all of you. From traveling the world to growing a family to working in various creative fields, I've developed an amazing life that has me excited to jump out of bed every morning (okay, almost every morning). But I haven't reached this point in my career and life without a few bumps along the way. Just like everyone else, I've made mistakes, I've experienced setbacks, and I've had to dust myself off and get back up again. However, when I really analyzed my life's trajectory, the one common denominator that has gotten me through the good and the bad has been using my creativity on a near daily basis. Whether it was styling clothes for photo shoots or designing scrapbooking products or sharing videos on YouTube, I've found my life's purpose by creating.

Craft a Life You Love is broken down into five unique sections: Crafting the Soul, Crafting the Right Mindset, Crafting the Right Environment, Crafting Happiness Through Habits, and Crafting Your Way Back. Each section is filled with all of my best tips and tricks for infusing your life with creativity, fun, and intention paired with personal stories about my journey. Each chapter also features guided worksheets, hand-lettered quotes, and a generous margin so you can doodle on the pages while you read! My hope is that you feel inspired to make this your own.

I am SO excited beyond words to see where this journey takes all of us. Let's get those creative juices flowing together to make 2017 the best year yet. If you have any questions - please leave them in the comments and I will try my best to answer them in an upcoming post and video! XOXO!
