My Party at Urbanic!
Last month I teamed up with Urbanic (one of my favorite local shops!) to celebrate spring and all of my favorite things. Everything from the DIY decor to the creative stations the lovely guests turned out perfectly. In the days (and hours!) leading up to the party, Ann-Marie and I inflated so many balloons to use for the decor. I also took inspiration from the party invitation to freehand the floral design the photobooth backdrop. It was a lot of work but all worth it once the party begun!
Truth be told, the original intent of the party was to celebrate the launch of my book but -- spoiler alert -- Craft A Life You Love was picked up by a large publishing house! I've been keeping this secret under wraps for awhile and am so thrilled that I can finally share the exciting news with you! Because my book will eventually be sold under a different publisher (I self-published which is a whole different story), there may be a few changes to the title and cover, so I wanted to hold off on promoting the launch of my story until it is officially completed. Since we already had the date and venue picked out, I decided it became a good excuse to have a party. Plus I have always wanted to get a bunch of my friends and fellow creatives together to celebrate some of my favorite things at one of my favorite places.

We had fun getting everything set up before the guests arrived! I painted a floral photo backdrop and added some balloons that I stitched into a cluster using fishing line. I will have a video of the whole process up soon!

Once guests started arriving, I was excited to share the various activities and treats I’d chosen for the party. There was an ORLY cart mixing up custom nail polish colors for each person. I’ve been loving their nail polish lately so it was exciting to offer this super cool service to my guests!

I set up a table with a few Minc foil applicators and some cute prints for people to run through the machines. That way, they could take home an adorable custom foil craft! The flamingo lights by Sunny Life Australia hung around the crafty table.

There was also a hand-lettering artist! The talented Lindsay Shannon (@lshannondesigns on Instagram) was writing out personalized custom calligraphy.

During the party, we enjoyed cocktails from Our Los Angeles and Owl’s brew, food from Cava, and Jeni’s ice cream for dessert.

At the end of the night, everyone got to take home a goodie bag filled with some of my products, Pipsticks, a Doodlebug pin, a Tombow discount card, and a pack of Tombow adhesive.

I really wanted to take the flowers from Hello Honey, but she was planning on picking them up the next day. Because I knew I would be too busy, I recruited Amanda to shoot video while at the party. So grateful to have her as part of the team, as she rocked the editing on this video too!
It was such a wonderful time! Huge thank you to all the sponsors who helped make this event a success. Thank you so much to everyone who attended too! Check #amylovesurbanic on Instagram for more photos of the event!

Can I Get A Heck Yes?!

It's something I say a little too often, along with "amazing", "awesome" and "oh my gosh", which after being told by some children that I said a bad word, I am now going to try and change to "oh my goodness". I had no idea! Goodness sounds better anyway. In any case, you may remember my collaboration with Cents Of Style where we used the Heck Yes on a zippered pouch? Well, it's back and this time it's on a tee shirt just in time for Spring!

Get the Heck Yes Tee for just $15.95 and free shipping with the code BOLD13 through 5.16!

Violeta's Awesome Layout
Hello everyone, my name is Violeta Scrap and today I want to share with you a layout I created using the latest collection by Amy Tangerine, “On a whim”.

On this Layout I used a combination of so many of my favorite things: small pictures, watercolors, a big focal point shape in the background, and a smattering of letters and stickers.

So to create this page, I used a few of my favorite papers from “On a whim” to create a coffee cup. Instead of using my Silhouette, I decided to handmake it. I drew the coffee cup on a scrap piece of paper and cut two pieces.
I picked a piece of white paper and I started building the final page. I placed the coffee cup around the middle and created a small cluster to help my photo pop.

I really love mixing different materials so I included clear stickers, Thickers, washi tape, and puffy stickers. I also fussy cut some words from one of apart sheets and used them in the page as ephemera.

My title “awesome” is made using the chipboard from “On a whim” collection. When I was looking through my supplies and I saw this I knew it would be perfect. It complements the colour well and it's the perfect sentiment too.
I´ve written my journaling with a black pen. I love the look of handmade journaling.
As a final touch, I added some big splatters in the layout. I used hot pink to keep the colors balanced across the page.

With just a little creativity you can work your Amy Tangerine collections into any layout theme. I really hope you enjoyed this layout and got inspired to create a beautiful page about yourself. Until next time!

Museum of Ice Cream!
I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! Jack and I took a trip to the Museum of Ice Cream in Los Angeles on the third day it was open! We happened to get tickets right when they went on sale in April, and I am so glad we did as it is currently sold out through June. You might recognize it as the adorable pink place that has taken over Instagram lately. We invited our friend Ann-Marie and Gillian along for the fun. I wore this skirt and received so many compliments while at the museum. Jack wore his new shoes for the first time - I have the women's version in a darker grey.

This temporary pop-up museum features ten different galleries filled with ice cream-inspired art. Pink pay phones, mint plants in chocolate soil, giant melting popsicles, 10,000 bananas hanging from the ceiling, and an ice cream sandwich swing make appearances in these bright and colorful rooms that look like they were designed to be photographed.

One of the most memorable sections of the museum is their famous swimming pool full of sprinkles! The museum designed sprinkles made of antimicrobial plastics and there are close to one hundred million of them in the pool. We ended up finding 3 of them in between Jack's toes when we got home - HA!

All along the way, they gave us little bites of different treats made to go with the art in each room! We had mint chocolate chip mochi ice cream, gummy bears, pancake ice cream sandwiches, and more.

To see more from our field trip to the Museum of Ice Cream, watch the videos I made from the day! The first is a process video showing you how I documented our trip on a layout for Simon Says Stamp in honor of (Inter)National Scrapbooking Day, which is today!
And the second video shows you what our day was like in addition to printing the photos on my Instax Share and finishing up the layout! Watch to tag along and see all of those lovely art installations in motion:
If you’d like to see this adorable and sweet exhibit for yourself, you may still have a chance. Tickets sold out quickly, but I heard that it might be staying open longer than anticipated because it’s been so popular! Keep an eye out and maybe beg them for more tickets to be released on their website.

What is your favorite ice cream flavor and what kinds of toppings do you like? Tell me in the comments below!

Mother’s Day Gift Ideas - Etsy Roundup
As you’ve probably already figured out, I love things that are handmade. When it comes to giving gifts, a gift you’ve made can feel really special. Since that isn’t always a possibility (you might not have enough time or the materials on hand or you may not be as crafty as you’d like), the next best thing is to support a wonderful maker and buy a gift on Etsy!
Mother’s Day is coming up, so I’ve compiled a list of handmade products on Etsy that would be perfect for a special mom in your life. Scroll down to see who makes them and click for links to where you can buy all of these items!
Remember to check the time it takes each maker to create and ship these gifts to see if they’ll be sent out in time for Mother’s Day. To be honest, I wouldn't mind if any of these came after the actual holiday. I prefer spending quality time with my family and doing things together anyway, so if one of these arrived later in May, I would be just as delighted. Some of them are custom made to order, which makes them even more special.

The Keepsake Kitchen Diary!
Though I have been cooking more recently than before, I have never really been one to keep a recipe book or card box. That is until the awesome ladies at Lily & Val offered to send me The Keepsake Kitchen Diary. Since I love creative collaborations, I had to send her some of my latest products so she could use them too. I was immediately smitten with the book when I first got it - the beautiful chalk lettered illustrations by Valerie McKeehan caught my eye immediately. To be perfectly honest, it was one of those cases where I had this gorgeous book in my hands but I didn't want to write in it or mess it up because it's so beautiful. I keep far too many books and journals blank, so I had to talk myself out of the fear of messing it up and to jump right in.
One of our favorite go-to recipes as of late is essentially an adaptation of Hot For Food's Buddha Bowl. We had the pleasure or having her stay with us and you can check out the fun we had in being spoiled with delicious Vegan food in Lauren Toyota's video.
I should probably properly make a video for the meal that we have at least once a week now and take the time to write an actual recipe with measurements one day. For now, you'll just see this spread which was an excuse to dive right in and use my supplies in Lily & Val's gorgeous Keepsake Kitchen Diary.

I printed out just an okay photo (better than nothing) on my Instax Share SP-2 printer.

The gorgeous illustrations are reason enough to get this Keepsake Diary, but imagine how special this will be to pass on to someone with it full of delicious recipes! If you're still looking for a special gift for Mother's Day, this might just be it!
Check out what Valerie did with my products on her blog and on Instagram!

Podcast Interview on How She Creates

Several months ago I had the pleasure of recording an episode of the How She Creates podcast with the lovely Caylee and Lauren. I thought I had shared about this already on the blog, but as I get ready for another series of trips, I realized I in fact had not hit publish on this yet. We discussed one of my favorite topics: travel! I shared some of my best tips for creating while adventuring, packing just the essentials, and really savoring the experience through the process of making. It was a super fun conversation!
You can listen to the interview AND download a free scripted quote printable here! Enjoy!

A Fun Little Instameet!

Recently, American Tourister helped me host my first Instameet for WWIM15! We had so much fun at Tom Dixon in Culver City celebrating #KindnessIsColorful. I started off the day by picking up some giant balloons at our local party store. They just barely fit in my car! Then I headed over to Platform LA to get set up.
Platform LA is one of my favorite places to hang out so it was awesome being able to bring a small group of friends together for some lunch from sweetgreen and some fun photo taking. You can check out #KindnessIsColorful on Instagram to see photos from everyone else as well!

During the Instameet, I set up a Make and Take station with the watercolor resist tags from my On A Whim product line so everyone could try them out and make a cute luggage tag! All we needed to decorate the tags were some watercolors and a water brush.

Watch the video from my day to tag along with us and see who attended the Instameet! You can also check out this photo and tap to see everyone's awesome Instagrams. Do you recognize any familiar faces?
Thanks so much to everyone who came out to my first Instameet! I hope to get to host another one someday soon. And if you’re in the market for some new suitcases, check out American Tourister's Newest Luggage.

Our Beautiful Trip to Bermuda!
Last month, I had the absolute pleasure of staying at the Hamilton Princess in Bermuda with my friend Alisha! The pink palace invited her to come and she asked me to tag along. Of course I had to say yes!

I just love the fact that like-minded creative people can travel together and support one another! Alisha is a friend of mine as well as somebody who I admire for her work ethic and creative drive. I love her spirit of wanting to try new things and just going for it! She runs Lish Creative and is an inspiring entrepreneur for sure.

We received such a warm welcome with a private check-in, a special gold elevator, and a few trays of beautiful treats in the room upon arrival! Everyone at the Hamilton Princess is so nice and we were excited to be there. The Gold lounge was really great - they had daily breakfast, afternoon tea, evening hors d'oeuvres, and a happy hour with complimentary drinks!

I brought a lot more shoes than I usually pack for trips because I knew that we’d be taking a lot of photos! They ended up coming in handy, as you’ll see later in this post.
We only had two full days in Bermuda so we wanted to make sure we got the most of our short time there.
We ended up stopping in the boutiques after one of our photo sessions and they had some really cute dresses! Though I didn't use to believe in indulging in resort wear, I love the idea of supporting local boutiques while I'm away. Plus every time you wear or use what you got from a trip, you can reminisce and re-live those moments. We also could not get enough of the colorful walls. There was a photo op around every corner. The town of Hamilton is walking distance from the hotel, so we did some exploring.

On this trip, there have been amazingly serendipitous things that have happened to us and I think that that happens when you’re traveling with the right attitude and outlook. Hard work, consistency, and a little bit of luck can go a long way.
The second and last full day of our trip, we had the opportunity to meet Peter, the man who runs the town of St George’s! The lovely Brittany, who seemed to know everyone in Bermuda, took us around and showed us some amazing places to take pictures. This blue romper by Lovers and Friends was so comfy!!

So much loveliness everywhere we looked.

The gift shop at the resort (@luxurygiftsbermuda) had this pool float by Sunny Life Australia. We were excited to take some fun photos of it, got it blown up at the moped rental place, carried it back to the pink palace, and decided it was too windy and cold to actually get into the pool.
So what did we do instead? We photographed it all over the hotel, then took advantage of the amazing light in my room and did a photo shoot there too. When you make the best of what's around, really awesome (and sometimes hilarious) things can happen. Sometimes you just gotta do ridiculous things, wouldn't you agree?

The resort is really gorgeous. Everywhere we went, they had the coolest art hanging on the walls! I’m not sure if anyone else gets as excited about the art as I did, but I thought it was just the coolest. It was especially neat seeing the Julian Opie pieces as we saw his exhibits while in Japan last November. Also, Gray Malin's pieces were for sale in the boutique and Alisha and I had the pleasure of meeting him while in Palm Springs for Alt Summit.

In the lounge on our last night there, we met Haley and Kaylee who were so sweet! I encouraged them to add some stamping and brush lettering to my bullet journal and found out that Kaylee loves Tombows as much as I do - she used them to address her wedding invitations! We enjoyed dinner once again at Marcus and had an incredible meal all together.

We were sad to leave our new friends, but how wonderful is it when you just hit it off with total strangers? Our voices were gone from talking all night with them. It was such an amazing time filled with fun and laughs and beautiful scenery!

Here’s my video from the trip, so you can feel like you were a part of the journey - without having to run through the airport like we did.
I really enjoyed going to Bermuda with Alisha and I hope that I get to visit the Hamilton Princess again someday. Alisha's post is up on her blog along with some free wallpapers. When you think of the word paradise, which location pops into your mind first? I'd love to hear about your own personal paradise in the comments below.

Carson's Awesome Layout

Hello new friends! I’m so excited to be here sharing my first official layout as a design team member! For this project I created a fun and vibrant layout using so many fabulous bits and pieces from Amy’s latest collection, On a Whim. I love everything about this collection but my absolute favorite products are those lovely emboss resist hang tags. I knew I wanted to feature them on this layout so I cracked out my trusty tin of watercolors and painted them to match the lovely greens, pinks and yellows found in the collection.

With so many wonderful papers in the collection it was hard work choosing my background, but there is just something so perfect about that pink ombre paper that I kept coming back to it again and again. Once I had my elements laid out across the page, I knew that I needed a little more interest on the background, so that’s where the thin gold washi tape came in. It’s amazing how just a few lines on a page can really ground all the different elements and tie them together. Of course it helps if those lines have a gorgeous golden sheen to them.

To finish the layout, I created a few clusters of varied embellishments, added my journaling to a sweet circle die-cut and twisted some colorful twine around my “Awesome” title to tie it in with the twine on the tags.

Just remember, you don’t need to have beach photos or an addiction to donuts to use this collection. The colors are so fun and versatile it can really work for any occasion that you want to scrap with a vibrant color palette. As you can see I scrap my boys with the brightest of pinks and I will continue to do so until they start complaining, maybe even longer JI love that there are no rules when it comes to scrapping!

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Happy Crafting Friends!
