Zinia's Brick Collage

Hello everyone! It’s Zinia here again and I’m back with a fun scrapbook layout using Amy’s Hustle & Heart collection.

This is a really fun collage layout, inspired by a quilt design I saw on pinterest. It is a little bit time consuming to stick all the little paper strips down but once it’s done you will absolutely love the finished result.

Zinia-Oct-BrickCollage-02.jpg

The first step is to cut all the paper strips. I started by trimming half inch strips from 12x12 pattern papers. Then I cut them down to 1.5” width. I prefer using my scissors for that last part so I can cut multiple strips at the same time.

Zinia-Oct-BrickCollage-03.jpg

Once all the pieces are cut, it’s time to start building the background. I used a ruler to help me place the first line straight and from there I just eyeballed the placement for the rest of the pieces. It doesn’t have to be perfect and super precise. The finished pattern will look fancy and complicated so it will hide any minor issues.

Zinia-Oct-BrickCollage-06.jpg

This pattern will create some empty squares/rectangles where you can put your photos. It’s a really great design especially if you want to scrap multiple photos or stories.

These empty spots are also perfect to add journaling, your title or even embellishments.

Zinia-Oct-BrickCollage-05.jpg

For my design, I chose to a vertical photo that expands across two rows of the pattern and embellished a little around it. I added my title next to my photo using some clear stickers. I didn’t want to overpower the design with a big title that’s why I decided to go small.

I really hope you enjoyed this page and you got inspired to create some fun collage with your scrappy supplies. Until next time, happy crafting!

Violeta's Hey Hey Sweet Layout

Hello again! This is Violeta Scrap, and today I want to show you a Layout that I have created with some of my holiday pictures.

HEY HEY SWEET LAYOUT 1.jpg

As base for the Layout I have used a paper of different stripes of colors from the “Hustle & Heart” collection where I have put a white basic cardstock of 11,5”x11,5”.

HEY HEY SWEET LAYOUT 2.jpg

In this Layout I have used eight photographs of different sizes. Some of the photographs are displayed under the another. To create this, I have used some patterned papers from the “Hustle & Heart” collection. With the papers I have created a flap so I can glue a photograph inside and another one outside.

HEY HEY SWEET LAYOUT 3.jpg

For the title of the Project I have combined a chipboard from the “On a Whim” collection with a foam word from the Thickers of the “Hustle & Heart” collection. In addition, I have included some die cuts from the collection “On a Whim” as decorative elements in different areas of the project and some chipboard elements, also from the “On a Whim” collection.

HEY HEY SWEET LAYOUT 4.jpg

As a decorative element, I have also used some transparent stickers that I have placed on one of the photographs, and I have added some pink-shaped glossy puffy stickers too, which combines very well with the colors of the project.

HEY HEY SWEET LAYOUT 5.jpg

Lastly, I have added some drops of blue paint, that I have made with some of my spray paints and I have splattered in a couple of areas of the project, as a decorative touch.

HEY HEY SWEET LAYOUT 6.jpg

This Project can be useful for you to get ideas for those layouts that you want to create using several pictures in an easy way, even if the pictures are from your holidays or from a special occasion.

Crafted Kindness

Crafted Kindness

When Jennifer McGuire and Kristina Werner reached out to me about participating in their latest collaboration, Crafted Kindness, I didn't even have to finish the e-mail before I said yes. Got to work with some of my favorite supplies, including one of my favorite stamp sets. I love everything that these ladies do and I am especially proud to be a part of Crafted Kindness, an online card class series that's only $25 that will directly benefit hurricane relief. Crafting and charitable causes...who could say no to that?

Zinia's Watercolor Strips

Hey there fangerines! It’s Zinia here and today I’d like to share with you a really easy mixed media watercolor layout I created inspired from Amy’s latest collection Hustle & Heart.

Zinia-WatercolorStrips-01.jpg

The whole idea started when I saw one of the cut apart cards from a paper called “The Little Things”.  I really loved the paint strokes on that card and the colors were arranged in a really beautiful order. So I decided to recreate that look on my background.

I took out my watercolor palettes and I tried to mix shades as close to that card as possible. Those colors go through the whole collection so using them for my background will ensure that all the embellishments will match perfectly with it.

Zinia-WatercolorStrips-02.jpg

So following the color order I painted some watercolor strokes with a flat wash application and a big flat brush.

Zinia-WatercolorStrips-03.jpg

I let my watercolor background dry and meanwhile I cut a few floral images from other papers in the collection to use as embellishments.

Zinia-WatercolorStrips-04.jpg

I wanted everything to be balanced and smooth so I decided to embellish my page by using color-coordinating products on top of each stripe. One of my favorite embellishments to use when I decorate my pages in a color coordinating style is clear stickers. Putting them on top of matching colors intensifies them and helps them pop.

Zinia-WatercolorStrips-05.jpg

As I was inspired from the card, I decided to use a white foam word for my title to create a similar look.

For a final touch, I decided to sprinkle some gold splatters using a Heidi Swapp color shine spray.

Just be

Be all these things

I have been having a bit of a love/hate relationship with Instagram recently for several reasons. Do you watch my InstaStories? Apparently they can only be viewed on mobile. I love sharing all kinds of snippets there. They expire after 24 hours, and I did a little poll and got some good responses. I want to gather my thoughts a little more on the subject and then I will update you on any conclusions I've drawn.

After I wrote this and posted it to Instagram I realized there are so many other P words I could use to add to it. Be proactive, present and polite would definitely be on the list. Can you think of others?

Zinia's Rainbow Chevron Layout

Hello everyone! It’s Zinia here and today I want to share with you a really fun rainbow collage background I created using the new Hustle & Heart collection designed by Amy.

I was totally inspired by the paint stroke pattern paper that’s included in the collection so I decided to cut it into strips and find patterns with similar color.

I paired each paint stroke with a subtle monochromatic pattern and then I started building up a chevron design for my background.

Zinia-RainbowChevron-02.jpg

Since my colors are very bright and bold the background will be pretty “heavy”. To keep everything balanced and pleasing to the eye, I kept everything else very minimal. I used a bright photo and the only embellishments I added were a few clear stickers. I made sure my stickers followed the rainbow order of the background so everything looks nice and cohesive.

Zinia-RainbowChevron-03.jpg

To lighten things up I added some white ink splatters. I also decided to bring in a few more white elements so I picked a white foam word and a few hearts from the thickers set to add on the page.

Zinia-RainbowChevron-04.jpg

The process of creating this layout is very easy and it doesn’t take much time. The result is really nice and bright and it’s especially perfect if you enjoy creating your own unique collage backgrounds.

Make a Life You Love - New Products in the Shop!

Amy Tangerine

My bullet journal has become more of a memory keeping device than I had originally planned, but I think I like it. We got so many requests for our months stamp, so we put it along with the alphabet set you see here and a brand new set called Be Kind

We also have my latest collection, Hustle & Heart, in the shop.

For the memories that need a place to live that take up more room than in my planner, I still use traveler's notebook to document those. Love that my Prynt Pocket is so accessible and that the quality of the sticker prints is the best I have seen of any Zink printer! All of this goodness can be found in our shop! What are you planning on making this week?

Our New Nugget!

amy_november-52.jpg

Jack's playroom has gone through several iterations through the years, and I am happy to report that our newest addition has been a huge hit!  We've been enjoying the Nugget Comfort play couch that we got for Jack recently. It has a way of bringing us all together, whether it's under tents or building castles and obstacle courses, this Nugget encourages family time and play. Not to mention this new Cactus color is pretty close to perfection! One of our favorite books lately is Little Owl Lost. It's such a sweet story and Jack has basically memorized the entire thing, so he can enjoy reading it on his own.
