Violeta's Guapos Layout

Hello I am Violeta Scrap and I am delighted to be back here to show you a new layout.

Guapos - Layout - Violeta Scrap_1.jpg

To do this layout I have used different elements from the collection “Hustle & Heart” from Amy Tangerine.

Guapos - Layout - Violeta Scrap_2.jpg

As a base of the project, I have used a paper that has different sentences on it. It is great! And I have used two photographs of my holidays of last summer with my family.

Guapos - Layout - Violeta Scrap_3.jpg

I have placed a stripe of paper and over it I have glued the two photographs. As the two photos have different colors, I have used color blue with colors black and white as main colors of the project.

Moreover, I have used white and pink in different decorative elements of the layout.

Guapos - Layout - Violeta Scrap_4.jpg

For the title of the project I have used the alphabet thickers of an old collection of Amy Tangerine and I have put some decorations to create the layout.

I have also added some felt decorations and some enamels in different areas of the layout.

Guapos - Layout - Violeta Scrap_5.jpg

Finally, I have added some drops of golden ink to create a fun effect in the project.

Guapos - Layout - Violeta Scrap_6.jpg

I hope this layout will be some inspiration for your holiday pictures. Also, Amy Tangerine’s collections are perfect for any season because they are full of colors!

4 Ways To Pack Light & Travel Like A Pro

4 Ways To Pack Light & Travel Like A Pro

Life’s a trip... and when you’re traveling you don’t always have the luxury of checking a suitcase! Although packing light can feel like a little limiting, it actually gives you a ton of freedom. You won’t be tied to a heavy bag, you won’t have to endure long check-in lines & you can forget about dealing with that post-flight waiting game at the luggage carousel.  Below are some helpful tips that will make your adventures breezy, comfortable & fabulous!

Roll with it!

When it comes down to it - folding your clothing physically takes up WAY too much space. The trick is to roll everything from your jeans to your t-shirts into tight & neat bundles. This technique will help maximize space while still keeping everything super organized. The one thing you need to remember is to avoid clothing that wrinkles easily. While most hotels provide irons - this added step can be kind of annoying & eats away at precious vacation time!

Get Back to Basics

2018's chicest look is, "model off duty." This style is clean & simple. Just stick to great fitting basics like solid color t-shirts, that perfect pair of jeans, a tailored moto jacket, neutral sneakers & of course a classic LBD. The great thing about packing these basic pieces is that you can mix & match them - the outfit possibilities are endless. For a day at the museum, you can wear a white tee under the little black dress & finish it off with the sneakers! For a nice dinner on the town do the dress solo with the jacket thrown over your shoulders - instant perfection!

Utilize Space

Say you’re going to the mountains and you want to bring your hiking shoes! Although these kicks take up a little more room than you’d like - make them functional! Stuff the interior of the shoe with socks & underwear! It’s a great way to keep things organized & take advantage of available suitcase space!

I.C.E.

Let's be honest: when you visit a new place you're gonna wanna shop. Between local crafts & bringing home souvenirs, there's so much to buy & so little room to pack it all up in. This is where your I.C.E (in case of emergency) tote comes in handy! This collapsible bag is made of squishy fabric, therefore, can be folded into a tiny square. Not only is it great to use for long adventure days, but if you end up buying more than your carry-on can handle just open up this lifesaver, and throw it over your shoulder. This fashionable purse puts the fun in functional.

There you have it... some solid tips on how to get the most out of packing light! In closing remember this - while it's nice to have the perfect travel outfits & accessories - the most valuable things on your voyage are the memories being made. Breathe it in!

This post is sponsored by Alaska Airlines. All opinions and experiences I mentioned are my own. My creative partners and I really appreciate your continued support!

With over 90 daily nonstop flights within the state of California at super low fares, I had no problem zipping up to San Francisco for the HEYMAMA San Francisco launch. You can read more of my favorite travel tips on heymama.

Zinia's Watercolor & Butterflies Layout

Hello everyone! It’s Zinia here and today I’m back with a really fun mixed media layout using mainly the Sunshine & Good Times collection by Amy Tangerine and American Crafts.

I was really inspired by the clear butterflies that are included in the sticker book of this collection so I decided to create a watercolor background using matching colors.

Zinia-AmyTan-February-WatercolorsandButterflies-01.jpg

I started with a sheet of the Vicki Boutin media paper, which is my go-to base when I want to create a mixed media layout. I decided to create some watercolor circles and to do that I picked some of my favorite water-soluble crayons by Vicki Boutin and Jane Davenport and I started mixing shades that match the colors of the butterfly stickers.

Zinia-AmyTan-February-WatercolorsandButterflies-03.jpg

Once my circles were done, I started embellishing them. Before I started with the butterfly stickers, I grabbed the butterfly wooden stamp that’s also included in this collection and added a few stamped images next to my circles. I wanted the whole page to be embellished in a color coordinating fashion so I did my best to match my ink colors with the watercolors I used on the circles.

Zinia-AmyTan-February-WatercolorsandButterflies-07.jpg

I mixed in the stickers with the stamped images and I created small clusters of color. Since these clear stickers had a few gold accents on their design I pulled a gold cactus from the ephemera pack to add some more sparkle to this layout.

Zinia-AmyTan-February-WatercolorsandButterflies-05.jpg

I only used a small amount of extra embellishments cause I wanted the background to be the rockstar of this design. A few pom-poms, some splatters and of course my title.

Zinia-AmyTan-February-WatercolorsandButterflies-06.jpg

This is definitely one of my most favorite mixed media pages ever cause I absolutely adore the softness of the pastel color palette and all the amazing details of the butterflies and circular elements.

Zinia-AmyTan-February-WatercolorsandButterflies-02.jpg

I really hope you got inspired to create a fun pastel watercolor background with your supplies and document your beautiful memories. Until next time, happy crafting.

Zinia's Mixed Media Frames

Hello everyone! It’s Zinia here and today I decided to play around with my WeR Memory Keepers Frame punch board and Amy’s latest collection “Sunshine & Good Times” to create a fun mixed media layout.

at-zinia-march-mmframes-2.jpg

I was looking at my craft supplies and I was really inspired by a color palette from my Distress Oxides. Luckily, those colors were a perfect match with the patterns from Sunshine & Good Times with the addition of some red accents from Hustle & Heart.

I really love the pastel colors of Sunshine & Good Times but if you add an extra bright color it gets really mindblowing.

at-zinia-march-mmframes-4.jpg

So after I picked patterns that matched the inks I wanted to use, I cut them into squares of various sizes and then turned them into frames using my WeR Memory Keepers frame punch board.

For the mixed media part I used the inks to created beautiful washes of color around every frame and also to add a few little splatters here and there to fill the empty areas.

at-zinia-march-mmframes-6.jpg

I decorated each frame differently but I tried to keep things color coordinating. I used one frame for my photo and one for my journaling. Then I went crazy with the rest playing around with different techniques and ideas.

at-zinia-march-mmframes-5.jpg

Since I was playing with inks, it was the perfect opportunity to use the lovely wooden stamps, which are included in the Sunshine & Good Times collection. I used different images for different frames and played around with a few techniques to create interesting effects.

at-zinia-march-mmframes-3.jpg

For my red accents, I pulled a variety of products from previous collections and although there are tiny differences in the warmth of my reds, they all worked beautifully together and complimented the whole design.

at-zinia-march-mmframes-7.jpg

This is definitely one of the most enjoyable pages I ever created. The process was really fun and I’m madly in love with the whimsical result.

at-zinia-march-mmframes-1.jpg

So I really hope you enjoyed this page and you got inspired to create your own unique color palette inspired by your art supplies. Until next time, happy crafting.

First YouTube Live

Amy Tangerine (2).JPG

I had the pleasure of chatting with Marly Bird on her podcast and it was actually live on YouTube! Though I can't really watch myself again, I thought you might like seeing it. You could even just listen to it instead of watching it because all you'll see is my weird hand motions and facial expressions. Ha. She was so fun to talk with and it was inspiring to hear about her journey as well! Plus she's giving away a copy of Craft a Life You Love

Have a listen to the show here and let me know in the comments if you think I should try a YouTube live from the studio for just a crafty chat sometime.

Happy World Book Day!

Quote from The Room on Rue Amelie

My intention was to create an updated list of books that have changed my life, but as usual, there are a lot of things going on behind the scenes. Thankfully most of them are good, but many of them are taking up my time and energy leaving me with grand ideas to blog more, but I think that will happen more next month. Fingers crossed.

For now, I am sharing a quote from my dear friend, Kristin Harmel's book, The Room on Rue Amelie. She sent me an advanced copy, which I finished earlier this year and loved. There are so many other quotes that resonated with me. I chose this one in particular because my word for this year is either "shine" or "light". Do you have a favorite quote from a book?

Violeta's Amy & Me Layout

Some years ago, I could attend to one of Amy Tangerine’s workshop. It was 2015, I could be in Barcelona with Amy Tangerine, and I had a wonderful time there.

Amy & Me - Layout - Violeta Scrap_1.jpg

For this layout, I have used my favourite photo with Amy Tangerine, from the workshop back in Barcelona 2015. The photo has been printed as if it was a Polaroid, it is quite cool!

Amy & Me - Layout - Violeta Scrap_2.jpg

Amy & Me - Layout - Violeta Scrap_3.jpg

I have used a yellow paper with “&” in white as a base for the project. The color yellow is perfect! Moreover, I have glued a circle with flowers that I have cut with my Silhouette Cameo.

After that, I have added some different stickers with different designs and colors from some Amy Tangerine’s collections so I can decorate the layout with them.

Amy & Me - Layout - Violeta Scrap_4.jpg

Amy & Me - Layout - Violeta Scrap_5.jpg

For the title of the project I have used a thickers alphabet from an old collection of Amy Tangerine and I have glued the word “Yessss” from the “Sunshine & Good Times” collection from Amy Tangerine. What’s more, I have added different stickers with some sentences in gold. Gold color combines perfectly here!

Amy & Me - Layout - Violeta Scrap_6.jpg

I have also put some puffy stickers from the collection “Sunshine & Good Times” as other decorative elements on this layout.

I love how colorful and fun that this layout is. It is, no doubt, one of my favorites.

I am looking forward to going back to enjoy some of Amy’s workshops, I love her projects and her collections. In addition, she is a wonderful and funny person. Thanks Amy Tangerine for trusting in me to be a member of your design team. You are great!
