Speak the Joy!

There’s nothing like good conversation and there's always room for more happiness and enjoyment in our lives. Seek the Joy is a lovely podcast hosted by Sydney Weiss about the importance of a life filled with (you guessed it) joy! It’s all about letting go of negative self-talk, telling your story, and reconnecting with your soul. The podcast itself is a great listen and I highly recommend checking it. I was lucky enough to be featured as the guest on Sydney's 40th episode and our conversation was incredible. You can listen to it on iTunes or her website. If you don't have time to drop everything and listen right now, I’ve decided to share three highlights from it here:
It was a great talk! Even though we hadn't met in person or even chatted before, Sydney was so easy to talk to. Not only did the conversation flow… I enjoyed every second of it. It can be intimidating to speak with someone you’ve never met before, but Sydney put me at total ease and it was fun.
We covered awesome topics! One of the main focuses was the connection between creativity and joy. If you read this blog or seen my YouTube channel, you know how strongly I believe in this link. The title of my book, Craft A Life You Love, hinges on creativity sparking joy and joy sparking creativity. It’s a beautiful, energetic cycle and talking with someone who values aligning with positivity was gratifying.
Storytelling! We talked about the evolution of my brand and my book and my latest collaboration with Avery! For 15% off, use the discount code 15AVERYNAMY on Amazon! The story behind Craft A Life You Love and the incredible journey I went on to getting it published was part of the conversation. Hopefully, sharing my story will inspire others who need a little extra push to share their own creations, whatever they may be. If you haven't heard me get a little woo woo, this will be a great way to get filled in on how important enjoying the journey is for me.

I created a special download just for you listeners from our conversation, which can be downloaded here. You can also take a look at the show notes from Seek The Joy here.
The conversation left me feeling energized and happy. How often can you say that about something you do for work?! Thankfully it's often for me, but if it isn't for you, perhaps it's time to pause and reflect on how you can fill your days with more of the good stuff. So, what’s one thing in your life that brings you joy? Did you like the podcast episode? Be sure to let me know in the comments!

Zinia's Embellishment Circle Layout
Hello everyone! It’s Zinia and today I’m back with another stash burning layout idea.
As scrapbookers, we all love hoarding pretty paper things but sometimes there are images that have no connection to our life and memories. But even if we can’t create a whole page around those images, we can still use them as random elements.

So in this layout, we are going to fill a circle with all sorts of random images that I had a hard time using on other projects because of their theme.

The first step is to cut a hole in the middle of a cardstock sheet. I used white cardstock for my page but you can go for any color you like. If you have a die-cutting machine you can use it to cut out a perfect circle, but I didn’t care about precision here so I just used a craft knife.

The next thing we need to do is cover the back of that cardstock with foam adhesive. It really makes the design pop when we add a little dimension to our base. You can mount the cardstock on top of any pattern paper you love or even a solid color cardstock.

Once everything is in place, it’s time to start filling our circle with different embellishments. This is where you can use all the exotic animals that you can’t feature in other layouts or little themed elements that you don’t scrapbook about.

This is also a perfect design to finish leftover ephemera packs or random bits you’ve been hoarding forever. The best part is that all of these lovely embellishments are on display and they won’t be covered and outshined from other elements.
I’d recommend starting with the biggest pieces first and the filling the gaps with smaller bits.

When the circle is all filled, the only things that are missing are a photo and a title. You really don’t need to embellish the page any further although you could if you wanted to.
The circular design creates the perfect spot for a title around the perimeter. There’s plenty of room so if you love creating long titles, this design won’t disappoint you.

So that’s our page for today, I really hope you enjoyed this and you got inspired to create a fun layout using up all the embellishments you’ve been hoarding over the years.
Until next time, happy crafting.

3 TIPS FOR A TIDY, HAPPY HOME

This post was sponsored by BISSELL, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Whether you're meticulously neat or carefree and messy, the time always comes to tidy up! So, I'm sharing a list of three ways to keep your home just a little bit cleaner. Because of our three Jacks (my two Jack Russell terriers, Buster and Bamboo and my son, Jack), my house can get a little messy at times. That's one of the many reasons I'm so happy to partner with BISSELL for this post.

Seven years ago, Cathy Bissell founded BISSELL Pet Foundation. The foundation's mission is to keep animals out of shelters in a number of ways including adoption, foster care, microchipping and so much more. Every time someone buys a BISSELL Crosswave Pet Pro® and registers their device at www.bissell.com, BISSELL donates $10 to the foundation to help each and every pet find a home! We have been using Crosswave Pet Pro in our home and you can check out the video on my YouTube channel to see it in action. Having clean floors is just one of the many things that help me feel grounded and happy in my home.

Here are the 3 tips:
1. Bring in the joy - There are so many ways to organize your belongings to help your living space look orderly, harmonious, and peaceful. Because our home is decorated with neutrals and accented with bright pops of color, one of my staple organization tips is to place your most vibrant items in rainbow order: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet. We use this method on everything from my personal library to Jack’s favorite toys and legos. Of course, if something isn’t exactly the right color, I try to find the best-looking place for it. I promise, it looks good even if you have a mauve thrown in next to the indigos! It’s not about perfection, just about bringing in a little order and good vibes.

2. Work smarter, not harder - I’m a small business owner and a mom— which means my to-do list always has something on it. I rely on multi-use products and tools to get the most out of my time while I’m cleaning. A great example of this is BISSELL’s CrossWave Pet Pro because it vacuums and washes the floor simultaneously—both hard floors and area rugs. It cleans wet and dry messes, acting as a mop and vacuum all in one sleek package. Whether it’s paw prints, tiny shoe prints or the little grey and white hairs that seem to get everywhere, my floors see a lot of traffic on a daily basis. CrossWave Pet Pro has a specialized cleaning formula with a light, clean scent. Best of all, it's earth-friendly and safe around pets and kids when used as directed. There are no heavy metals, phosphates or dyes. We use it all throughout our home and the scent leaves our place smelling crisp and fresh. It’s so nice to have a tool that can multitask just like I do!

3. Include the little ones - I don’t think cleaning is anyone’s favorite activity, but there are ways to make it fun and enjoyable for the whole family. Jack is usually an eager helper when it comes to chores. Giving him a small, manageable task helps keep him engaged and learn about responsibility. It also helps me keep things in perspective. Yes, a messy house feels chaotic and unpleasant sometimes and cleaning can be stressful. But the loved ones who make the messes are a huge and valuable part of my life and I never ever want to lose sight of that truth.

Which of the three tips are you most excited to try out in your home? Be sure to share any of your tried and true tips and tricks for a tidy living space in the comments below!

Cause Mama You're A Firework!

The Fourth of July is all about freedom, independence, and sparkly celebration— which is why I loved every bit of Bashery & Co’s Moms Independence Day dinner party so much! It was so incredible to be surrounded by beautiful, happy moms taking a little break from their everyday lives. It was a celebration of womanhood, motherhood, and independence in a gorgeous setting with amazing food and plenty of laughter.
It was a great opportunity to have some girl time. After all, the kids aren’t the only ones who get to have fun when nobody’s watching. We hula-hooped and even played a few rounds of flip-cup, which I hadn’t done since college! Of course, the real fun was time connecting with friends over fabulous drinks and bites!

We finished off the night with pies, cocktails and sparklers. It was a truly magical evening!

I’ll be remembering and savoring every bit of this as we will be attending a parade in the morning on the 4th and having a block party. Then of course we will be watching the fireworks. What are your favorite Fourth of July traditions and activities?

Expect miracles

Expect miracles. I have been taking deep dives lately (some of them into woo woo land) and trying to practice self-care and all that good stuff. Last week’s #homwork assignment to watch a video of someone who inspires you and to take notes. Gabby Bernstein has been a huge source of inspiration for me since I met her almost 9 years ago at the Brentwood Lululemon store when she was promoting her first book, Add More ~ing. Last week my assistant and I took a mid-day break to watch the Ted Talk, How to be a Miracle Worker, and used the brand new Koi Creative Art Colors set from Sakura and my favorite Tim Holtz water brush to write down what resonated with us.

Thanks Lauren Hom for the fun! Any videos inspiring you lately?

Violeta's Life Is Fun Layout
Hello! I am Violeta Scrap and I want to show you a double Layout I have made with different elements from the “Hustle & Heart” Amy Tangerine’s collection.

For this double layout I have used two papers as the base of the Project, the paper “Patchwork show” in which I have placed on a white cardstock paper of 11,5”x11,5” and the paper “Go places”. To both papers I have added some drops of spray paint in yellow color, because it combines perfectly well with the colors of the papers and the embellishments of the “Hustle & Heart” collection.

After that, I have put the different photographs that I have combined with some pieces of the paper “Stay Wild”.

I have created different titles for this project, using the gold foam words and the white foam words from the Thickers pack “The Lucky Ones” from the “Hustle & Heart” collection

As decorative elements I have placed in both papers small enamel dots in different colors that combine with the papers and the photographs.

I have also put some transparent stickers, some faux suede bows in pink and yellow colors, some museum pins in different colors and a wood veneer in white and gold.

Moreover, I have added some transparent stickers on the photographs and I have placed some photographs creating a flap with a white paper, which I have decorated with transparent stickers and some faux suede bows in red and blue.

I wanted to create a funny layout with the pictures of my holidays, as a beautiful memory of some great days with my friends. I hope you can use this project as inspiration for your coming projects. If you have any questions about this layout you can leave your doubts in the comments below.

Queen Bee Craft Night San Diego!

If you've never been to a Queen Bee Market Craft Night (or any of their events, really), you might be missing out. It's a gathering of fun with creative ladies from all over coming together to spend time with one another and of course get their craft on. After teaching at my first Queen Bee Craft Night in Vegas, I was delighted when they asked me to lead the workshops in San Diego. It was such a gorgeous setting, produced by Mint Studio and a whole team of amazing people.

I had never been to the incredible Flower Hill shopping center and was blown away by all the cute shops, restaurants, and how kid friendly it was. Next time, we are definitely bringing Jack down.
Of course, one of the best things about my job is seeing what people do when they are creatively inspired. I saw so many women express themselves in beautiful, new, unique ways. Everyone’s work was so different and personal and meaningful to them. I shared my story with them in the beginning and then we worked on a variety of paper projects.

Another thing that made the event so uplifting was the village of incredible artists who came together to create the look and feel of it. The positivity and energy was so good, especially when we all came together for a beautiful group picture toward the end of the event! Everything from the cookies to the decorations to the goody bags was created by people with great instinct for art, color, and positive vibes. That definitely contributed to the event feeling special and amazing. You can also check out my vlog about the event on YouTube! So, what do you think was the coolest thing about this event? Do you feel inspired to attend a Queen Bee Market Craft Night? Let me know in the comments below!

Keep on Shining! Announcing my next AC collection!
As you know, I love getting the chance to let my creative light shine and I am guessing you enjoy doing the same. That's why I’m so pleased to reveal my Shine On Collection with American Crafts. The collection is full of bright, inspiring products that will give you a little extra sunshine in your crafting!

Inspired by natural textures, some designs in the collection might remind you of warm feelings of home - wood, plants and of course florals. Hopefully, you will all be delighted to see the same Amy Tangerine look and feel paired with these unique textures and highlighted with gold foil.

Of course, let's not forget the stickers! From minimalist lettering, to faux suede bows, to bright and shiny gold botanicals— there are tons and tons of vibrant, beautiful options that will help any spread or project shoot for the stars!

My favorite piece from the collection is probably the gold metallic ruler with stencils pictured below. There are so many ways to use it and it looks incredibly cute with all my other supplies. The scalloped edges work well for drawing a pattern in your scrapbook or bullet journal. The measurement side is excellent for drawing clean lines and edges. And of course, the stencils are a great way to create little illustrations throughout your projects without having to overthink whether or not it will look good or proportional.

Be sure to keep a look out for these products in stores near the end of July. Let me know if you spot them somewhere early! What are you most excited to use from the Shine On collection? Be sure to tell me in the comments below!

Feature in Mini Maven Magazine
Recently, I did an interview with Mini Maven Magazine for their travel issue! They talked with me about a bunch of my current projects including the second edition of my book, Craft a Life You Love, my scrapbooking lines with American Crafts, and the capsule collection with Avery!
Mini Maven also asked a few questions about my son Jack and how I continue to work on my creative projects with him. Any fellow scrapbooking and crafty mamas might find my answers interesting! There's also the most beautiful photos inside which makes me wish I had a little girl to dress. Some awesome mamas are featured in the issue as well.

You can buy the magazine on the Mini Maven website and at Barnes and Noble stores worldwide. And to celebrate summer, now through June 25th, you can get FREE SHIPPING by using the code MINISHIP before it sells out!

Zinia's Pastel Paper Weaving
Hello everyone! It’s Zinia here and today I want to share with you a really fun and slightly weird layout I created using mainly Amy’s Sunshine & Good Times collection.
I don’t know about you but to me “weird” is one of the best compliments I ever received. I’ve always been an unusual and colorful kid and I tried to maintain that as much as possible as I was growing up. I can’t claim to be as energetic and brave I was back them but I really wanted to dedicate a page to remind myself how important it is to keep my own kind of weirdness and to always be myself no matter what others may think.

That’s the little story behind this page so if you are wondering why would anyone bite a guitar, the answer is I don’t even know, it just felt right at that moment. Right from the start of this layout I knew I wanted to use Sunshine & Good Times products cause the colors and designs in this collection are so fresh and different. This is definitely a perfect collection for teenagers and documenting school memories. So, since I’m using a pretty old photo of myself it fit perfectly in the context.

I really wanted to do some paper weaving on this layout so I pulled out my paper stash and picked some of my scraps. Paper weaving is a great technique to use up scrap pieces of paper or even branding strips since you only need thin lines of paper. I kept the paper-weaving panel kinda messy and loose to go with the whole theme of this page.

As I mentioned earlier this collection has very unusual designs. Bees can be fun for a spring themed layout and bananas pretty awesome for a tropical vacation page but if you mix them together with some birds and butterflies you have a pretty “weird” combination which in this case is exactly what I was going for!

My most favorite part on this layout are the heart sunglasses. These are from the Sunshine & Good Times ephemera pack and oh my, I was so freaking excited when I realize they are the perfect size for my photo. I seriously encourage you to try and find a photo that goes well with these glasses and stick them straight on the picture (if you don’t want to actually cover the photo you can staple it at the side so you can lift it up and see the actual picture). It’s the cutest thing I’ve ever put on a scrapbook layout to date and I freaking love it!

I added a small rainbow cluster on the other side of the page along with my weirdness-manifesto journaling to finish off the design.

I hope you got inspired to embrace your weird side and create a page about it! Until next time, happy crafting.
