December 3rd, Big Mid-Week Wednesday -- Finishing up Christmasizing the living/dining room -- the Christmas tree has a zillion lights (don't you find always that more lights is always merrier?) and Leslie poofed up the top so it looks a bit like it's exploding with gold stars -- I'll post a photo, also of the tree in my office, also with a gorgeous "top knot" thanks to Leslie.

I'm about halfway through Grayson Sherbrooke's novella -- now, I need a title. It's set in about 1837, on the coast up near Scotland. Grayson is a widower with a four-year-old son, Pip, very precocious and some really zany neighbors. Maybe you remember from The Wizard's Daughter how Grayson wrote novels about otherworldly phenomena, i.e. Ghosts and demons and evil spirits and such. He's still doing that -- and a neighbor child (P.C.) begs him to help her mother or else they'll all fall into The Abyss -- Any ideas?

You can begin mailing out goodies today (Yes, I am, not all, but some really big boxes loaded with goodies) Remember, I'm crazy, what with wrapping beginning with the first football game, way back in early September -- so there are TONS of presents --

December 1, 2014

Monday, and yes, it's DECEMBER 1st -- Imagine. Don't you feel a slight shiver every year when the first rolls around? I mean, it's the Christmas month and such joy and fun and family and hopefully very little drama with said family but you never know, so don't be surprised. Because all of you have listened to me, your shopping is very nearly done, gifts wrapped, tree going up sometime this week with presents put beneath it and you're GOLDEN -- Everyone will worship at your feet, your critters will snuggle at your neck, your other half will admire you and shake his/her gifts under the tree and smile and smile and maybe even kiss your toes.

Sad, sad, dispiriting Sunday -- I was 1-3 -- the Chargers barely came through, but in the last minute, they manged to pull off the win over the Ravens. I had some very very slight hope for the Redskins with Colt McCoy, but playing the Colts, I saw how really dysfunctional the team is, the coach is, and given who Daniel Synder (sp?) is and what I've been told he's like, well, something violent is going to happen after the season. Any guesses? As for the Patriots, they didn't show up to play in the first half, and the Packers played awesome. As for the Cardinals, they sure miss Carson Palmer and Fitzgerald was out and blah, blah, blah. We will not mention the Giants in this household -- what do you think will happen in that organization during the off-season?

Today, it's Christmas decorating the living room -- such fun and we always play Charlie Brown's Christmas CD --

Nov. 26, 2014

The day before Thanksgiving, the 26th, Wednesday -- and do you know what? I sent off NEMESIS yesterday, the house is all decorated, all the food is bought for tomorrow and I'm wandering around wondering what to do. This is very sad. It's like someone stole my sails and I'm dead in the water. I was told to sleep late, and I really tried, but the kitters were up and at 'em at 5:30 so that was over and besides it's not Saturday and how can you sleep late when it's not the weekend? I'm not Catholic so it can't be guilt. Is there protestant guilt? Never heard of it, if there is.

Don't forget, EAT LIGHT today, and work on your cardio, at least 30 minutes doing something to make your heart go get 'em -- Besides the great food, the wonderful friends and family tomorrow, the doohickies on the pumpkin pie, we've got TWO FOOTBALL GAMES --

Can it get any better? Don't eat much today!

Nov. 21, 2014

Sky all overcast, gray, pregnant with rain (I hope) and not snow (I hope), and I'm bouncing up and down here at the computer writing to you because I'm finishing the edit today (well, maybe tomorrow) on NEMESIS -- the next Savich and Sherlock, out this upcoming summer. Here's what happened. I finished the book a couple of months ago, (as you already know). I then reread it, realized it was in bad trouble and really needed help and rewriting -- so that's what I've been doing. I think it's solid now and exciting -- Phew! Well, this has never happened before, that is, needing to rework a manuscript to such a huge extent, but it only proves that life isn't boring, and you never know what's coming, and regardless of what lands on your doorstep, you shouldn't despair. Well, maybe a little bit in the dark of the night listening to the house settle, listening to the cats moving around, then climbing up to settle on your chest to twitch their whiskers against your cheek and your eyes pop open and -- that's enough --

Nov. 20, 2014

Good morning, world! What a glorious, hope-it-will- rain day, the 20th, Thursday, which means, YES, you guessed it, FOOTBALL tonight, Kansas City and the Oakland Raiders -- maybe wrapping a couple of Christmas presents.

Lunch today with friends at the HCF -- always fun and good food -- again, try the avocado egg rolls, lots of their sauce, which should be outlawed it's so good. The assignment is for all of us to come up with captains for the cat calendar -- I have one excellent one, only need maybe 23 more (double photos per month page)

Nov. 19, 2014

If you're undergoing some confusion, let me hasten to tell you -- It's not the day before Thanksgiving and you DO NOT need to rush now and buy all the fixings -- No, another week, okay? (I woke up this morning in a panic, thought you might have to) Another whole week, but I tell you, I've been thinking about that pumpkin pie -- I love pumpkin pie about more than anything (except guacamole, of course) -- and those little cut-out doohickies in the shape of leaves and whatnot you put on the top -- and they're all crunchy and yummy.)

All right enough or I'll eat my elbow. My house is a strange and wonderful combination of Thanksgiving and Christmas decorations, yep, that's right, and it's very cool. Okay, I'll send a photo --

Today is a day I sometimes don't know what to do with -- so I forge ahead to Thursday, an absolutely perfect day, and do you know why? Life goes too fast, I don't want to waste a second of it -- Okay, give me some ideas how Wednesday can have its own unique personality -- what is it to you?

November 18, 2014

Pink sky over San Francisco with slashes of blue and black -- amazing place to live and look at. Tuesday, the 18th -- goodness, can you believe how the days are whizzing by? I mean in thirty minutes we'll be chowing down sausage cornbread stuffing (Be still my taste buds) and pumpkin pie -- doesn't get any better than that -- and FOOTBALL -- an altogether magic day --

Today you need to start thinking about presents -- yes, that's right, do not wait until the last minute -- that is so pathetic, although it sure makes the retail business happy because you always overspend. NO, start thinking now, maybe even checking out a store or two -- but before you do that, ASK the person what they'd like. If they say a Porsche, you can simply say, one zero, please, and that'll get them in the right ballpark. They say, oh, anything would be wonderful, then you buy candy, always a winner, particularly See's Nuts and Chews.

November 14, 2014

November 14th -- I've got this feeling this is going to be a mellow Friday, the week's winding down, everyone is ready to welcome Saturday with open arms, (and open wallet since Christmas shopping is gearing up), the weather's gorgeous (If it's anything but in your area, pretend -- if you're a reader you know how to suspense disbelief), and a big plus, it's not the 13th -- missed it by a day.

It's movie night, probably sci fi, well, maybe a Jason Stratham Transporter movie, along those lines. Get the Butter Light Microwave popcorn, get those tootsies up on the ottoman and mellow out. Be sure to laugh a lot with whoever you're sitting next to. Tomorrow you'll pick up with endless other stuff, but tonight -- it's yours.

Nov. 13, 2014

REALLY WEIRD: It's nice and dark, as usual, alarm goes off, feed the cats, do my own ablutions and am at the point of dressing when the lights go out -- BAM! I look out the window. All of Sausalito is dark, as is San Francisco -- encased in black and I'm sky clad but I know where the flash light is, thankfully, even though haven't had to use it for lo these many years. Well, I truck downstairs to the huge generator I absolutely hate and want to throw into the Bay, I turn it on, and lo and behold -- LIGHTS -- So, I go back down and tell the generator I'm really sorry about hating its circuits (After I dressed and calmed down the cats) and the lights go out again -- replay -- now it's daylight so the electricity can go bonkers and it'll only make working the computer ill-advised (on and off with electricity fries your computer's synapses, so I'm told). It is sprinkling -- gasp! -- but given many of you guys have 20 feet of snow and still have lights, I wonder if my electrical company is that much of a wuss to go haywire with mere drops of rain --

Don't forget, it's FOOTBALL tonight!

As to keeping your own internal generator happy and purring right along (with or without lights), after you get yourself coffeed up, CARDIO time --

November 12, 2014

Nov. 12, 2014

Mid-Week, yet again, the gorgeous 12th of November

I waited to write until it was light outside -- it looks heavy, that's the word that comes to my mind, like it wants to be a crappy day with cold air and overcast skies -- we'll see -- I don't ever look at the forecast, it's more fun to see what develops (well, there are reasons sometimes to know) One of you wrote that you shoveled 15 inches of snow -- I mean, where is this? The Arctic? Maybe north Texas? (Yes, that was a bad joke)

Time to give this some thought: if there's something you really really want to do and you have the chance to do it, TAKE THE CHANCE -- no more yammering about "if only" this that or the other. But you say, "I don't have time, I'm too tired, (blah, blah, blah" -- fill in your own excuse) -- no matter what you can come up with, it has no relevance. You're afraid you'll fail? That it's all for naught? BIG WRONG on both counts. If you fail, it's no big deal, your toes won't rot off, your eyebrows won't fall out -- for naught? That's never true -- Why? Because you're always learning -- So, Go for it, -- DO IT -- Now I've got myself all fired up -- will do lots and lots today and feel good. You too, okay?

Don't forget your one and only body. Without it, you aren't going to go for anything at all. So it's up to you to take good care of it. Lots of cardio, keep your heart healthy and pumping happily along --
