It's a big shiny Tuesday, the 27th (I'm sure of the date because it appears in the lower right-hand corner of the computer -- isn't that nice?) The sky is lightening, Cleo is agitating for her a.m. walkabout. I'm now brainstorming for ideas for the next FBI thriller -- I wish you could give me ideas, but you can't because I couldn't use any of them -- and that's of course because our society is so very sue-happy.
So many appointments today, the consequences of being gone and things piling up and now they're staring you in the eye and you've got to do all of them or suffer -- I really don't like to suffer -- and that brings up an interesting question. I've observed that guys like to be tortured by women, namely wives -- what do you think?
No sore muscles today, no hitch in the gait and that isn't good, means I didn't work out hard enough yesterday. So lots of cardio today, get those quads going hard -- sound good to you guys?

13th -- Tuesday -- There's evidently this illness (can kill you) carried by mosquitoes in the Caribbean that's getting worse -- does anyone know about it? Some of you said you weren't beach people -- I'm sort of with you, I'm not one of those who like to lie at the beach all day -- prefer the shade, with brief forays into the sun -- ah, but the water, that's different -- tough, however, to have one without the other --
The Oregon/Ohio game -- I hope next year they have the top 6-8 teams have play-offs, who knows what will happen? Like you never know what's going to happen in the pro play-offs. I've got to say though that that Ohio back, Elliott, is amazing. Four turnovers and they still trounced Oregon -- quite a showing. It was great to see Tim Tebow -- hope he shows up more on the sports talking heads -- Now, the NFC/AFC championship games this weekend: Patriots and Green Bay --

8th of January, lovely day forecasted and guess what? MORE yummy FOOD -- getting together for more celebrating at the High Cholesterol Factory with friends -- thinking about those really small hamburger sliders with dill pickles and French's mustard --
All of you who don't know what a princess cake is -- please, someone, post a photo of the green domed Swedish layered sponge cake with stuff in-between layers and marzipan lid on it. Lots of people drool and love it to the point of cramming it into their mouths -- if you've never tried it, do, and tell me what you think --
Novella is nearly done, but I realized I've really given away the twist at the end -- big drat, gotta fix that this morning --
Those of you shoveling snow, freezing your tootsies off, trapped inside because it's TOOOO cold outside, really, consider moving to warmer climes -- it makes me shiver to hear those temperatures you endure --Why not relocate? You say, family and friends are all here, can't leave -- GET THEM TO MOVE TOO --

7th, Wednesday -- A double birthday party today at one of the "double's" houses -- and would you believe it, she's a remarkable chef and is doing the cooking. What more could you ask for? Who likes Princess cake? Who even knows what it is? It is so not my favorite, but one has to be magnanimous and since it's her cake of choice, I'm bringing it -- I mean, it is her birthday) The other "double" birthday wants blueberry pie, home-baked (be still my taste buds) and yes, that was made yesterday. You see I didn't tell you I actually made the sucker -- and you'd be right, I didn't. Remember the chef in the photo with all the cookies? That's Lesley and she made it. It looks gorgeous sitting there on top of the stove with plastic wrap over it, all brown topped and fat with some blueberry juice seeping over the edges -- oh my --
\
Yeah, yeah, talk about food, praise the blueberries, and that seems cruel, doesn't it? No matter, WORK OUT YOUR GORGEOUS BOD after you eat a lovely slice of pie -- concentrate on core today with stretching and abs (always) --

The BIG SIX -- January, that is, Tuesday, and it's still dark -- You all sound like you're girding your loins and getting out there to mix things up with the world -- can't ask for more than that --
Lots going on today, much of it work, which is a good thing since the cats really like to eat. Do your critters know when it's the weekend and motherfood/fatherfood isn't going to be talking to them/petting them/wishing them a fine good morning until MUCH later? And they know this and sleep in with you? Wouldn't it be nice if we could have unconditional love from people like we do our animals? Hmm, probably ain't going to happen, particularly since everyone has their own opinions about politics/religion/football teams -- whereas Peyton, Eli and Cleo simply purr and knead the very warm and soft throw over my legs and agree with everything I say.
Too cold for you to run? Gym? If not the gym, then I trust you got your free weights for Christmas, Googled up exercises, and are religious about doing a routine by now? Nod, say, "Certainly, Catherine, do you think we're morons? That we'd just sit on our butts and do nothing and have everything sag and fall, both externally and internally? And huff and puff rather than walking smartly from A to B?

Yes, yes, it's here, finally, the big whopper 31st! And everyone is freezing off tushies -- can you believe it -- here too -- it's very cold out, don't know how cold, but the wind is still howling, up to 50 mph yesterday, slacked off a bit this a.m. I guess the winter gods don't want to be ignored, want to make their presence felt -- Here's the bottom-line though: I'd love to be a winter god but only if I was in charge of snow at ski slopes, then that would be my pride and joy -- lots and lots of snow so skiers would be yelling with joy as they zoomed down the slopes, so tickled at the amazing experience that who cares about the occasional broken leg?
So how to celebrate New Year's Eve and overcome the blistering cold? You don't have to go to a rip-roaring drunken brawl tonight, even though they're a hoot, but you do have to DANCE -- grab your very cool other half, turn on your favorite dancing music and go to it -- yes, don't forget the champagne -- giggle and smile and hug and smooch at midnight and do say a little prayer of thanks for a wonderful 2014 --
Yeah, yeah, it'd be good to cardio your brains out today --
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

HUGE 19th, Friday, big Christmas party/present demolishment/dessert consumption (pineapple upside down cake, peanut butter cake, T-Ring, assorted other evil wonderfulnesses) -- and naturally some of Lesley's incredible cookies (see my Facebook page for the photos -- facebook.com/catherinecoulterbooks).
I love your comments about the photos -- you see those cookies and salivate? Me too, the only thing is, I get to nibble on them (when Lesley's back is turned).
My picks for Week #16:
l) 49ers over Chargers (Yes, there is always hope)
2) Lions over Bears
3)Patriots over Jets
4) Colts over Cowboys
So many excellent games this weekend -- so I really do hope you're all done with Christmas preparations. Now, today is the last day of the workweek and that means you need to polish things off right by working up a nice sweat with vigorous cardio (preparing for your butt on the sofa this weekend). Burn off calories, then you can consume them again --

WHERE IS YESTERDAY? This is freaky, naturally I wrote to all of you yesterday -- is it the weather gods spitting on my Facebook connection for some reason I cannot fathom? Anyway, Tuesday was just fine, thank you (if you were interested).
My Week 15 results were 2-2, which brings me to an uninspired 34-26. How are you guys doing?
More rain -- on and off yesterday, supposed to be about the same today, tomorrow dry, then the HUGE storm supposedly will hit on Friday -- we'll see. No leaks yet. All the reservoirs are full to overflowing so the local news people have moved to complaining about Southern California's lack of sufficient rain, unusual, since the north and the south are not friends. (Southern California takes all the water, supposedly).
No photos yet of all the gifts upstairs. Why, you ask? Because the wifi is all screwed up what with all the storms (that or I forgot to pay bills). Will get the wifi fixed before Friday, I hope.

Dark as the bottom of a cauldron -- to be expected at 5:00 a.m. --- I know, I'm gasping at that too -- off in a few minutes for SFO (that's San Francisco International airport), on to New York for a wedding, then home on Sunday -- don't want to miss ALL the football -- I put up my picks and I expect you to do the same.
No snow back east, but cold -- so I got out my winter coat that's only worn once a year when we go back for Christmas -- Yep, it's going to last forever --
What do you guys think of the title THE ASPEN PROTOCOL?
(It's no longer Zero Hour, a good title but Clive Cussler used it some six months ago.)

Friday, the 5th of December -- Wonderful day yesterday -- the popovers with strawberry butter -- they gave us a half dozen more upon leaving (yep, with the butter) Thighs and tummies were very happy. Biordi's was a fairyland, as usual It's on Columbus in North Beach -- and everyone scored.. Even the wrapping paper they've used for years is unique -- it looks like paper you'd see in Florence, Italy.
If you hadn't realized it yet, it's FRIDAY -- and that means gym and stuff, all sorts of stuff that includes maybe 3 diff. stores. No, not Christmas presents -- I'm working on the novella this morning, helping prepare presents for mailing back east and west, hmm, and south, don't forget south --

Halloween's coming up fast, the day the zombies burst out of the ground and terrify the crap out of us, not to mention eat our candy and eat our brains.
Update on BOMBSHELL, the 17th FBI Thriller: I'm nearly finished with the edit. The cover is very cool, explodes with eye-popping color. BOMBSHELL is set in Maestro, Va., (the setting of the 10th FBI thriller, POINT BLANK) and in Washington.
JEWEL OF THE LION (first thriller in A Brit in the FBI series partnered with J.T. Ellison). JEWEL moves fast and you don't know what's going to happen on the next page, and you're biting your toenails or a zombie's toenails. J.T. is an excellent plotter and that means when we brainstorm no plot gets left behind.
Alas, no kids want candy enough to crawl up our oxygen-deprived steep driveway, and the sad thing is, I still have a big bowl of candy, every year, but no one comes, not even the zombies with brain bags.
Take care, Catherine
