Proud 11-11. Was anyone married on 7-7-2007? I love all your comments about San Diego and the Midway -- There were scores of retired military volunteers on board the Midway -- you needed a Band Aid? Ask and they would find you one. Need some pop corn? Do you want to know an obscure fact about the Navy? the Midway? All you had to do was ask -- they're on it -- amazing group.

Today Deborah Coonts is coming for lunch -- she writes the Lucky series -- very funny -- if you haven't yet read her, do give her a try and enjoy her wild imagination.

Work, work, work -- complain, complain, but the fact is, if you didn't work, you'd probably be dead, so given that this alternative isn't on the devoutly to be desired list, it does cast a brand new perspective on getting up early, showering, running around like a fool, then plunking yourself down to perform your best at your job to earn moolah for cat food. (and the rest of the family too)

Working out helps calm the humors and settles your brain with the additional benefit of making your bod gorgeous and healthy -- SO" DO IT -- tell me tomorrow what you did --

Nov. 7, 2014

November 7th -- Delicious Friday -- I'm off to San Diego in a couple of hours -- it's going to be warm there, about 80 degrees -- yep, shorts weather -- do you prefer seasons or do you like it warm year around? Again, if you can make it, come to the USS Midway to meet 50 authors and visit the panels and ME --

Congratulations to the Browns -- good win last night. Don't know what was going on with the Bengals, but they seemed to be playing "Keep Away from the Football"

November 6, 2014

Yes, I know, I'm boring you to tears, but the thing is, it's really gorgeous here and so what am I to do? Right this minute the sky is pink -- pink slashes through San Francisco and Alcatraz looks like a nice place to live.

Don't forget, the Veteran's Book Fair is Saturday aboard the USS Midway, San Diego -- COME if you can --

Tonight is football, so there's no question about what movie to see, what book to read, which afghan to knit (just kidding) -- Sorry the games are so late back east, that's a bummer --

House is all Thanksgivinged up -- I'll post some photos -- Gomez the Vulture is back in his box in storage.

This will take only 5 minutes, but it's a MUST for you to do anytime today. Get yourself alone, lie on the floor, butt against the wall and raise your legs -- simply stay there, and think about things, but what happens is that your body will love you, everything straightens out, your nerves will love you even more, and your brain will mellow -- and all will be good in the universe. 5 minutes, all you need -

Nov. 4, 2014

I will never root for the New York Giants again, never, simply too stressful to see Eli (I even named my cat after him) be a dufus, the defense play like duffers, in short, all their play was pathetic. I turned the game off in the second half and threw my slipper at the TV (I doubt it helped, but maybe it goosed them into scoring in the second half, maybe? One measly score added in the second half?)

Who saw Top Gun back in the day? On Friday night, I'll be in San Diego, as you know, for the Veteran's Book Fair and all the authors are having dinner at the bbq place where a scene from the movie was filmed. It's a big military hang out. What's cool is I have a vague memory of the place. I saw a photo of Tom Cruise the other day with a gorgeous woman on his arm and I'll tell you, he looks fantastic --

Happy Halloween!

Oct. 31st This is the grandest day -- big ticker tape parade at noon for the Giants -- oh yes, Google Kevin Bumgarner -- and read a very cool/clever/funny article (I think it's the New York Times) and let me know if you chuckled a lot -- He's Madison Bumgarner's dad -- Thanks to Diana Chambers for sending it to me --

Big Halloween: Yes, of course I've got a HUGE bag of candy, and will stare out at the driveway (well lit up, of course) to see if maybe one super hero and parent will make the trek -- there are even cut out pumpkins in the big windows, so welcoming, but, sigh -- I really like those bite-sized Mr. Goodbars -- I usually pick them out of the huge bowl and set them aside for a treat when I do something worthy.

Wear something Halloweeny today, okay? A patch, an orange streak on your cheek, a spider hat -- or go full bore with a costume, Dracula, Wonder Woman, a ghoul, whoever or whatever strikes your fancy -- take a selfie -- I'll pick the one I like best and guess what -- an amazing new prize -- (well, okay, it's not a new prize) Yes, one of my books (your choice).

October 30th -- It's too early even for the birds to show a feather and here is Cleo (Queen Cleo) demanding to go for her first walkabout -- I finally talked her around, assuring her that it was far too early for the mice to be skulking around so why bother?

Can you believe it? THE GIANTS WON THE WORLD SERIES. As you know, I'm not big into baseball, and all the announcers could talk about was Madison Bumgarner -- haven't seen his like in 100 years and he's incredible, three games credit in the series, never done before and on and on. He's 25. Please give me your opinions on him, if you think he's that special. Evidently when he started out at 18, they tried for three years to change the way he pitched --

No excuses, no buts or maybes or can't be sures -- nope, none of that, all of you turn on your TV at 5:00 p.m. (here on the West Coast) for the 7th game in the World Series tonight between my Giants and the KC Royales -- It should be crazy and wild, particularly with pitchers since there are no more games to hold pitchers in reserve.

Now that I've got your evening all dialed in, let's move on to your day. I want you to really put your all into work, be sure to make everyone else's day at work a real pleasure -- random acts of sheer kindness are always fun and you simply never know what will come back to you. Have you all experienced this? Do you find when you put forth even a small effort, everyone else around you also responds with good humor and more pleasantness? Well, there's always a jerk in the crowd, but you can ignore them or be really nice to them, see their eyes go blank with shock, trying to figure out what's wrong with you --

October 28. 2014

Still dark as a pit on this the 28th of October, creeping and crawling toward Halloween (Yes, I'm up earlier than usual, thanks to my amazingly adorable critters who LOVE to eat an early breakfast every once in a while, not often, mind you, but Tuesdays do seem a favorite day)

Got a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: Brenda Novak has a new book out TODAY -- The Heart of Christmas -- yeah, yeah, it's not even Halloween yet, but this is how it's done in Publishing Land, gives you a chance to buy half a dozen for early Christmas presents. Think about this: Will a guy's mysterious past prevent our heroine from wrapping him up with a big red bow for Christmas? Don't miss this one, lots of fun.

Now I get to brag: I call every single one of the pro games every single week and Week #8, I only missed ONE, and that was because I went with my heart, not my head, but sure there's always a change. The Panthers let me down and the Seahawks walked away with a win. I even picked Redskins to beat Cowboys and NOBODY did, and would you look what happened with a third-string QB last night? Lovely win for the Redskins. So, only one loss, guys, what do you think of that? You ready to crown me the Absolute Queen of Football? The All-powerful Oz? (A brief pause while I bow and preen)

October 24, 2014

Yes, yet again, it's another FRIDAY and the sky is just beginning to turn pink -- isn't being alive grand -- this the 24th of October -- only one more week until Halloween.
I hope everyone got my Oct. newsletter -- there are cute photos of the kitters, as usual, and a reminder of the 200 mile rule -- that's right, plan to be in San Diego the 8th of November (Saturday) aboard the USS Midway to meet all your favorite authors. We're all there for something wonderful -- and that's to raise as much $$$ as possible for military families and veterans groups. It'll be all day along with panels and other activities I haven't yet heard about.

If you have the gall to live outside the 200 miles, then it's time for a) a vacation to San Diego or b) move there for a couple of months, bask in the sunshine and the gorgeous scenery all around you (surely you can ignore all the traffic). I'll be reminding you again because, well, I'm just that way. I really would like an enormous turn out for this amazing event, the first of its kind -- come smooze --

Tomorrow I'll post FOOTBALL Week #8 -- can you believe it? We're already through with 7 weeks -- Who's watching the Lyons/Falcons in London? I understand Londoners love American football, love even more those hunky gorgeous men who roam around London, all smiles and ready to sign autographs.

Reminder: I'll be on Goodreads Tuesday, October 28th with the co-writer of the Nicholas Drummond series, J.T. Ellison. Do come by and ask a very profound question (or two).

October 23, 2014

The 23rd Thursday, and it's light outside, a gorgeous pink-striped sky over San Francisco.

Thanks for the feedback on movies. Now, the DRACULA -- who saw it and what did you think? Are his fangs still sparkly at the end of the movie? Or does he turn into a not-nice monster who bites his wife?

Today is a massage and that has got to be a treat right up there with Haagan Das (sp?) -- French Vanilla or Butter Pecan? No, the massage is still better if you've got someone good -- I do and I'm blissing out just thinking about it.

Tonight is the Broncs and the Chargers. Do you think Rivers can pull it off? Or will Manning make them look like a high school team (see 49ers game from Sunday)
