Oct. 22, 2014

22nd October, but I have no clue if this Wednesday will be a beautiful day because it's STILL DARK outside, and isn't that a bummer after the summer and all those lovely bright a.m.s? I mean, it's dark, really dark. So I'm going to make a big assumption. It will be beautiful today because, after all, this is Sausalito, CA., and it's usually beautiful here (even when, objectively, it's not really) I mean, just say Sausalito -- doesn't it sound beautiful? (Little Willow in Spanish, more or less)

Work today, always there, always waiting, and isn't this the truth for everyone of us? We work to make money to feed the critters, we work to make our surroundings not disgusting, we work on our bods to keep the Aren't-You-Something looks coming and our innards happy -- and that's why God created weekends, play-time -- but first we've got to place our perfect noses on that blasted grindstone.

I've been told THE JUDGE is one of the best movies this one person has ever seen -- I had only one question: did it end well? Haven't heard back yet. If you've seen THE JUDGE, tell me what you thought since the weekend (when there's not all that much work to do) is coming up and that means it's movie time -- and FURY (Dracula?) Was that good? I wasn't a fan of GONE GIRL even though I really like the title.

Glorious Tuesday, 21st October -- BRAIN SCREW UP:

One of my four Week #7 picks was Browns over the Bills. Well, I meant the Vikings over the Bills, but it didn't matter, the Bills pulled it out -- so, I'm 1-3 this week, and To Date: 13-15. Goodness, that sure hurt to write. That game last night between the Steelers and the Texans -- absolutely amazing --(except for the Texans and their coach was not a happy camper)

Computer is back up and smiling at me and telling me it just needed a vacation from all my interminable words, words, words -- Welcome back, you blessed pile of circuits. I do not have a name for my computer so perhaps that's why it gets pissed off at me and leaves the building until I beg John the Computer Genius to come and administer his special tonic. (I'm sure it's got vodka in it).

Day after the GIANTS win big and it's off to the World Series -- again. There is off-the-charts elation here in S.F., as you can well imagine. Now, are you 49ers listening? How about a twoffer? Hey, it's good to dream big, don't you think?
Wasn't the game exciting last night? I tell you, the Jets could have won -- isn't it amazing what happened? I mean, the field goal attempt blocked in the last seconds?
Awesome 17th of October and it's birthday parties today -- well, one big party, but two birthdays being celebrated. Lots of presents, lots of fantastic food -- could a Friday get any better than this?

So many of you commented on my Facebook post yesterday, more than I can read and answer this morning, but I will this afternoon. All of you are such sweethearts and up--beat and kind. These are three wonderful attributes and would be they could be worldwide -- Do enjoy this incredible day

October 14, 2014

Got some early morning fog going here on the 14th of October. Tuesday is an odd day, I mean, what's to do on a Tuesday? What does it have going for it? You're all depressed because Monday Night Football is done and there's NO MORE football until Thursday night. (The 49ers looked like they were in a different universe until the very end of the first half, then they were themselves again -- what a way to make your fans nuts) Hmm, okay it's still Thursday -- you work, gotta do that to feed the cats, but what then? That always brings up food and exercise -- which first and what kind? These decisions are important, so don't shirk them despite its being Tuesday and an odd day to boot when all's said and done.

It you have any ideas on how to make Tuesdays jump up and holler and make you delirious, share them, please. Otherwise, tromp through the day with a lovely smile for everyone because that's why God created smiles in the first place, to make your face beautiful -- and to make other people smile back at you because it's so completely irresistible.

I rejoice to tell you that it's yet again ANOTHER FRIDAY, 10th of October. You've got up some Halloween decorations? A vulture? Maybe Mortitia and Gomez? Something, come on, guys

THE LOST KEY -- is #3 on Publishers Weekly bestseller list. This is good. No whining. WE WANT LEGS -- so have your mother-in-law and father-in-law read it? If not, go bite their ankles.

Thank you for all your great comments about The Lost Scene. It's a toss up with which scene you found the scariest -- It would be nice if you could write me with your opinion on The Lost Key to my email address -- ReadMoi@gmail.com. Why, you ask? Because I need your email address if I elect to use what you said in the future and I would need your permission.

The Texans could have pulled it out of the fire last night if only -- ah, but isn't J.J. amazing?

October 9, 2014

Thursday, the lovely 9th of October. Yet again another warm gorgeous day in Sausalito. I know someone has to piss off the weather gods soon and it'll start dumping cold wind and rain on us, but not yet.
First and most important: (no, not football tonight, that's 2nd) THE LOST KEY came in at #8 on the New York Times Bestseller list, #3 on the Ebook list, #3 on the Combined ebook/hardcover list, #4 on KOBO, #8 on Barnes and Noble -- that's all I got so far -- so we'll see if it's going to have legs and move up higher on the lists or be chopped down to stumps in its prime -- Thank you for telling me how much you enjoyed it. Okay, now, tell me which scene in the book you thought was the most thrilling or scary or made you suck in your breath. The comment I like best, I'll send you a book of your choice (yet again, I must remind you it has to be one of mine)

Now, the second most exciting: THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL -- this should be a good came, between the Colts and the Texans. Do you know, I have no idea who to pick? I mean the Colts with Andrew Luck should beat the Texans, but then again --

October 8, 2014

Another incredible day, warm, sunny, there's the smell of hope in the air, and GUESS WHAT? It's WEDNESDAY and that means I find out how THE LOST KEY is doing on the bestseller lists. Already heard it's #4 on KOBO -- so we'll see. Digits crossed, okay? (ALL your digits please, whip those toes into shape, move them into position and don't walk too much) Is there anyone else you can bug or blackmail to read The Lost Key? Maybe your secret love, who doesn't read all that much, but you're doing to save him/her -- think about it --

I told you I'm writing a novella about Grayson Sherbrooke -- it's lots of fun, but since my writing time on it is spotty, I keep losing where I am in the story. It's the strangest thing to know I need to have only 20,000 words -- I have 6,000 and I've got very fun characters, and I've got this mystery set up -- where will it go? Any suggestions?

Oct. 2, 2014

October 2nd:
I'm beginning to hear from you about THE LOST KEY -- If you really really went mad over it (and do I ever hope you do!), email me at ReadMoi@gmail.com and tell me -- but only if you went nuts over it.
Good news: THE FINAL CUT, paperback, is #8 on the New York Times Bestseller List -- week #4 -- so it's beginning to grow some legs (we're a bit above the knees now) so if you have a friend who has the gall not to have read it yet, nip at their heels. We want l-oooooo-ng legs.

Got some favorite relatives coming in today -- with twins -- yep, the cats will disappear. Ella and Alexa are about a year and a half old, there are lots of stairs and balconies with 60 foot drops, interesting items everywhere, so their parents should be pretty exhausted by the time they leave -- How about BBQ, garlic toast, my famous caesar salad, fresh peach pie and don't forget the close-to-the-edge-of-obscene mashed potatoes. Fun --

October 1, 2014

Can you believe it? I mean, no kidding around here, it really is OCTOBER FIRST -- and yes, I have my Halloween decorations up -- very cute -- particularly Gomez the vulture, who sits on top of the kitchen island -- I'll post a couple of photos -- he really is too much. He's standing beside Walter --

So THE LOST KEY is off and running -- really fast, I hope. Do let me know what you think (well, if you don't like it, you really don't have to give me that awful news) BUT, if you are enthralled, over-the-top thrilled, lost tons of sleep because of it, didn't have any smooched with your other half because you were too into it, then yep, do tell me, all of it, every single wonderful stupendous adjective --
