Thursday 31st -- say good-bye to proud July, the bringer of heat and lovely sun and perhaps a vacation -- Got home yesterday afternoon, but alas, I was doomed -- shaking 500 hands, countless hugs at the RWA conference in San Antonio (great fun!) and I got the cold from the inner circle of Hell, so am rather miserable, but you know what, a.m. is always better, like nearly human.

I'M BACK -- (That's Friday talking)
If any of you have ever read one of my paperbacks, you noticed all the reader quotes in the front. If you really liked Power Play, then email me at ReadMoi@gmail.com and tell me -- and I might use your quote! Plus you get a free book. If you thought the book sucked, why then, please keep it to yourself and don't tell me, being depressed really isn't a fun activity.

17th of July, Absolutely Positively Perfect Thursday: Why, you ask? Because -- ARE YOU READY FOR THIS: Heard yesterday that Power Play came in at #2 on the New York Times Bestseller List!!!! BIG YEA! (yeah, yeah, I know, so who is #1? (Alas, it wouldn't help to knock him or her off.)
Bombshell in paperback moved up from #5 to #4 (the third week on the list, started at #9) This is excellent as well.
So please send a little nod and smile toward Sausalito and know I'm wearing an even bigger smile and thinking about a celebration. Now, have all of you herded your friends, family, neighbors to the bookstore to buy a copy of Power Play? You're right, I'm like a duck who keeps pecking at your ankles.

SOMETHING weird and wonderful: I wrote a scene yesterday that I thought was pretty good, needed work, but that's always true since the point is to get the scene down, then think about it, work on it. Last night, I dreamed the scene -- only my dream re-wrote it and now it's really unexpected and exciting -- WOW -- Who has had that happen? You go to sleep with a problem, or something churning around in your brain, and voila! you wake up with a solution or a new way to deal -- I'll be writing the new scene in a few minutes -- what fun!
Okay, two friends' birthdays today -- joy will invade my house at about noon -- lots and lots of joy and laughter and fun -- AND CAKE, two different kinds --

Great Big Beautiful Wednesday, 25th of June. I've got to tell you the truth here and some of you may want to stake me, or if you're non-violent, shake your heads and mourn me, maybe call me just plain crazy -- okay, here it is: I'm one of those disgusting morning people whose eyes pop wide open at about 5:30, (yes, yes, sometimes earlier) rearing to go, happy, plugged in, petting and talking to the kitters as I feed them. Thinking back, I guess I always have been a morning person. But it comes ten o'clock at night, I'm out like a light, gotta have the 7-8 hours sleep. And do you know what? If I do sleep in (on the weekends) I feel disoriented for a while, my brain sluggish, staring at me demanding to know if I'm on drugs. I know, I know, that's pathetic. And the worse? I feel guilty. Sigh.
Did everyone get the June Newsletter? If you didn't and you checked your spam folder, then email me at ReadMoi@gmail.com. You can also sign up by emailing me as well (or go to CatherineCoulter.com) Now, a reminder -- for an autographed copy of Power Play (out the 8th) pre-order the sucker at Barnes & Noble, online -- such a clever idea, wish I'd been the one to come up with it, but alas --

Tuesday, 24th June -- So here's what happened. The alarm went off at 5:00 a.m., it's like BLACK, no hint of a coming dawn. Still, of course, the sound wakes up the cats and they are bouncing up and down on the bed and I hear this voice, "Catherine" -- it's my friend who's staying with me, and she's all dressed, tells me she's going running. And she's gone. If I'd had my brain plugged in yet, I might have shot her. It was STILL DARK -- the cats started to run after her, then stopped cold in their tracks, looked back at me and stayed -- do they know Motherfood or what?
THE LOST KEY gallies are all done and off today. It's a good book, I'll think you're really going to like it. BOMBSHELL paperback is OUT TODAY. So if you haven't read it yet, get yourself out to buy it -- gorgeous cover, (like the hardcover, the flaming red) but do you know what? I think it's more striking as a paperback. Enjoy it and do let me know what you think. (well, only if it's positive)

Happy Summer Solstice:
Guess what? It continues to be gorgeous weather here and if one were an idiot, one could yawn and proclaim boredom. Since I'd not normally an idiot, I'm basking. Lovely tan, the cats are gamboling through the marigolds, the Meyer lemons are busting off the trees.
Now, where was I? Oh, I was in the Outer Banks, Duck, North Carolina, the first week of June for the yearly family get-together. Now, imagine 40 people all gathering together for the evening meal in one huge room and of those 40 people 7 are younger than 5. Do the words insanity, chaos, and mayhem come to mind? Well, not really, to be honest here, everyone one of them is really quite cute, even the two year old whose every other word is NO. Where do all these people sleep? We rent three houses: the Dog House for those who bring their critters, the Baby House for who who've procreated, (those who have indulged in both critters and procreation can pick), and the Big House for the sane, centered, drinking adults. Absolutely no drama for the whole week (at least I wasn't a part of the pouring of the hydrogen peroxide down the spaniel's throat so she -- Gwyn -- would vomit up the peach pit, which she did, and there was great cheering and promises of good works and vast relief throughout the Dog House, particularly by Gwyn). Evening meals are in the Big House followed by a dozen birthdays, celebrated two a night which really stimulates Tuilio's economy since they make all the cakes, and little kiddos run around like loons, high on sugar, and the movie of the year -- Frozen. LET IT GO -- oh my, how about three hundred times? Yes, movie and song. Well, maybe a little mayhem, well, maybe a little screaming delight in the swimming pool.
As for Fred and Wilma, (costume night) we sang the Flintstones song, didn't screw up the words, and my orange Wilma wig was a hit. Yaba daba do!
Since I know you are all waiting with baited breath, the paperback of BOMBSHELL is out the 24th. Next week, can you believe that? And then upcoming on July 8th is the new FBI thriller POWER PLAY -- Now, here's the deal with POWER PLAY: If you pre-order it from Barnes & Noble, when it arrives it will be autographed by me. Isn't that cool?
You wonder what POWER PLAY is about? Think about the Ambassador to the U.K. being in deep caca and in swoops Agents Davis Sullivan, Savich and Sherlock. The Ambassador's daughter is a top pro football writer for the Post -- she finds out a very cool story about Tebow. (This alone ought to make you want to read the book. I really do hope, like Perry, that Tebow will be the Seabiscuit of the NFL.)

Wednesday, June 18th -- Does everyone know how to "tag?" I'd say quite a few of you do given the number of comments on the photo of POWER PLAY. Putnam's doing the drawing on Friday and then I'll post the 5 winners along with the names of the 5 converted friends. Looks like you guys are gathering lots of deprived friends into the FBI fold. Thank you and good luck. I'd like to hear how you captured the uninitiated, like, did you lasso them from the back of a truck? Did you do a cool tackle and not let them up until they swore they'd leap right into the FBI books? Please tell me you didn't have to use extreme measures with any of your prospects --
The gallies for THE LOST KEY are due in this morning, which means my nose will be plastered to five hundred something pages for the rest of the week -- I haven't seen the book in a couple of months, which is good, because, hopefully, my brain will be fresh. The key is always to read very very closely, catch all the gremlins that get in the pages to cause trouble. Also my Thank You to Clive Cussler in the first Nicholas Drummond book somehow, for whatever reason, didn't make it into the Acknowledges of, THE FINAL CUT. It will go in the Acknowledgements here. Clive's got a new Kurt Austin out -- gotta order it in --
If you haven't "tagged" get off the dime and get it done! Then, with success, enjoy moving your gorgeous body to celebrate the day, lots of upper body today, think arms firm as elderberry branches --

Tuesday, 17th June -- Somehow seeing the sun, feeling the warm air (not too warm, mind you) simply never gets boring. You step outside and breathe in and realize all's right with the world. If you don't smile, then you need to reboot.
Thank you all for titles -- there was one that sort of struck me, we'll see.
Today is the High Cholesterol Factory with friends so that automatically means 10 more minutes on the bike, pumping madly, seeing all those carbs swirling around, dying to land on the thighs and gut and settle in and nest and breed. You ask, will you let that happen? And I will answer NOT IN THIS LIFETIME. So the moral is: eat what you want, but know you have to keep vigilant, and if you do overdo occasionally, then take care of it as soon as you can.

Thursday, 12th of June -- I got Hump Day t-shirts for guys at the Outer Banks, in baby blue, of course. Love that commercial.
Is everyone going to watch the Spurs/Heat game tonight? I can't wait to see if the Heat, well, turn up the heat -- yeah, yeah, so that was pretty bad, but hey, it's early, the sun's behind clouds, not shining on my brain, two of the kitters are unhappy with me since they're on a bit of a diet and wondering Where's the Beef? --
Thanks for the titles, a couple caught my eye -- MORE --
About the deep pulled chest muscle -- it is my strong side, so maybe it'd be a good idea to work on the weaker side, you know, arms, and such -- It's so stupid and hasseling and aggravating -- Any of you ever have something like this? If I'm careful (from today on) how long? two more weeks until back to normal? What about taping? Any of you recommend that and if you do, however to do it? All right, I'll stop whining, it really is very unattractive --

Halloween's coming up fast, the day the zombies burst out of the ground and terrify the crap out of us, not to mention eat our candy and eat our brains.
Update on BOMBSHELL, the 17th FBI Thriller: I'm nearly finished with the edit. The cover is very cool, explodes with eye-popping color. BOMBSHELL is set in Maestro, Va., (the setting of the 10th FBI thriller, POINT BLANK) and in Washington.
JEWEL OF THE LION (first thriller in A Brit in the FBI series partnered with J.T. Ellison). JEWEL moves fast and you don't know what's going to happen on the next page, and you're biting your toenails or a zombie's toenails. J.T. is an excellent plotter and that means when we brainstorm no plot gets left behind.
Alas, no kids want candy enough to crawl up our oxygen-deprived steep driveway, and the sad thing is, I still have a big bowl of candy, every year, but no one comes, not even the zombies with brain bags.
Take care, Catherine
