The dialog "feels" authentically old. Something modern writers can't really get at.

Ok so these stories are going to merge a bit? It seems like there's some overlap with the prostitutes?

So the story dips in and out of people's lives.

impressed with way it's written.

The book has seriously crazy levels of un-believableness.

This narrator has a very nice voice. Very pleasing and reads really well!

His voice acting is bad though. It is 1980's cliché movie villain levels of silly.

And a big failing (yes that's harsh, but it is true) the characters' dialog uses speech from 2017. Not just speech, but phrases and idioms that make zero sense in the context of a medieval-type magical setting.

The wedding scene is cringworthy in a lot of aspects. Let alone that it was included in this book about an epic battle between lesser mages and the last trained grand master. The knights and a unicorn and old gods.

But I just can't read that amzing story. Only a story about a modern wedding. dumb.

Ya.. this book completely ignores a great story, and just makes it 99% about a gay couple being gay with eachother. Pretty boring.

Not really a great story. The characters are so wooden and might as well be walking cliches.

I am enjoying it though. How many epic fantasy books can I read where the 2 leads are gay men? I wish I found this book when I was an awkward, distraught, and ostracized teenager.

It's a life story the only thing that bugs me is there love was instant love. There was no flirting or foreplay involved.

Oh this is really cute. This takes the old cliche'd fantasy novel where knight meets girl, they save the world together.. but it has two male protagonists.

It's so nice to read a book in my preferred genre that represents me a bit more.

Is this book based on some famous dead poet's work? I forget which poet, but he's mentioned quite a bit in the book (is it Keats?)

I think if I were familiar with the poet's work, I would enjoy this story.

Intensely slow and boring story.

I love the authentic Polish/Ukrainian/Belarussian/Czech regional aspects.

An intriguing prose. Very deliberate and slow.

I know what's bothering me. I think people call it toxic masculinity these days... it's an elementary understanding of what a "macho man" is.. this weird old fashioned naïve hero of a character.

The author added a line that indicated the USA is better under trump. Now the whole book is tainted with that poor opinion.

Honestly, this book makes me realize that I can be a published author.. if I ever found motivation.

The writing is not great. The story is fun albeit, it's definitely something like a high school nerd boy would absolutely love. I used to be that nerd boy, so not knocking it too much. Just not an adult level of complexity here.

Still, it's a fun time-travel thriller. I can look over it.

This is gonna be a good thriller! I can tell. It goes right into the action. Doesn't bother with a bunch of setup and hoo-ha.

One dumb thing, though, is the author is adding "southern" sayings.. and they come off very out-of-place, because they're too hokey and cartoonish.

Very hesitant with how this book starts. I'm not sure if I'll enjoy this one or not but we'll see

This one's plot is really well put together. However it's a little light on the scifi, and heavy on the sex/interpersonal plots.

Here we go again! I think this book makes this series officially my most read series ever. So I am obviously enjoying it.

And I really like that this point in the series the author goes directly into the plot without any set up. It's great like old episodes of star trek.. episodic.

Big twist. But meh.

Looks like this is turning into a normal romance guy romance guy loses girl guy tries to get girl back type a book. Blech

Ya! a page turner fun mystery. Nothing intellectual here, but who cares.
