This is promising! Great narrator. Great premise. No fluff.

Can't wait for it to be over. The pace of this ending (it feels like 6+ chapters!) is long, and making an attempt to be emotional. However, there really was no connection with these characters from me, so it's not emotional at all... And it just seems to drag it out unnecessarily long.
All these teary-eyed scenes feel hilariously maudlin, and i want to fast forward through them.

Longest ending ever

At 84% done we finally get a peek at the mysterious Phantom down. Is what a wasted opportunity to write a good book.

It's so disappointing that the author decided decided to focus on the drama between some college students. There's this amazing setting of magical disappearing towns ringtones that's left abandoned in the plot.

So the author wont focus on the magical "phantom settlement" at all?

The romance sub plot is so... "ball of fluff"-y.

Half done, no real magical portals yet.. hmm

This is written like a summer mystery page turner. howver, it's magical... so cool.

Ooh! The map is gonna be a portal isn't it? i love portal fantasy.

I am really liking it so far.

Seeing this mystery unfold... i wonder what this gas station cheap map does? It seems magical.

I really love everything about this book. I'm a fan.

The only tiny criticism i have is the ultimate trope and the climax of the story... it was always about sibling love and abandonment issues. And love conquers all... which is a big trope in TV, but this plot leans very heavily into it. Otherwise for me, perfect 100.

So the best/Moriarty character is doing the villain monolog which is usually very annoying. However it fits so perfectly with this plot it's funny.

Oh so he's not a changeling in the classic sense. Honestly, should have seen that twist coming due to the who9le premise of the book. Still such a cool, unique and well-written story!

Yes! I knew the author was going to explore the "changling" theory in the plot... Dr. Frankenstein just suggested it. So cool.

Ugh. The narrator prounouces "ayuda me" as "eye-you-dahhh-me". So stupid sounding.

I love the idea of his cat getting one of the most legendary pieces of loot.

Super accessible, but not infantile writing.

Classic pixel-punk setup, and goes right into the action.

It doesnt feel like a modern novel that has a big huge climax and a nice payoff at the end.

In that way, it geels more true to life.

Steinbeck is masterful because he writes good literature AND a good story too. I'm sure that's not an easy feat.

Kate / Cathy is a nasty woman! holy shit.

OKI get it the scar on Kathy and Charles forehead is the mark of Cain. They are murderers!

Samuel's account of Cathy's birth of her twins is chilling. And Cathy's reaction to the light.. yikes.

Ok, yes the Eden references are coming forward. Adam. Building a garden... The Cain & Abel parralels.
