It wasn't really unexpected or a twist, but that didn't soften the blow. What a perfect way to end this book.

I like the writing. Delivered 1st person. Like a memoir almost... just recalling a 1-way conversation with a coma/stroke patient.

So many words. So little.... plot.

Beautifully written. I was beating myself up kinda, thinking my attention wasn't on the book. But after re-starting it twice, I realized the plot is buried way down deep behind layers of stylistic writing. Not really enjoying this. DNF.

Way too much jumping around. Its like random scenes, random characters

The prose is so deliciously creepy like a like a Victorian horror movie. It absolutely sucks you in. The only negative so far is there's a lot of jumping around between characters.

Very consistent with the 1st book's writing and characters. It feels like it could just be a part of the 1st book. it's good.

Yes! After a couple books that really didn't strike any interest, it's so nice to read this good old series again. I love the characters, the writing style, the mindless scifi concepts. So good.

OK so unfortunately this is one of those books that is more romance with the backdrop of scifi fantasy.

Act 2 drags a little bit. I'm sure it will come together soon.

I love this. It's written so well, and so "smoothly." That's a terrible description though.. it's just plain good

Many of the audio reviews say they disliked this narrator because he is difficult to understand. Especially the frensh proper names.

It's literally not at all difficult. Mercedes is pronounced mare-say-days. That's barely different at all. Jeesh!

The language is dated. I usually hate that! But it works so well that's it is actually enjoyable.

I'm pretty sure I hear Gaiman's voice as one of the characters!

This book is so "Gaiman". If i started reading this blind wirhout knowing anything, i would instantly know Gaiman wrote this.
