Nobody shipped the Third Doctor and The Master harder than Terrence Dicks.

Book #2 and the final short story done and dusted! It’s really awesome seeing how McNeill is mining genuine pathos and character development out of the insane, labyrinthine rules of the Space Marines and how they are supposed to adhere to strict rules of engagement (even if those rules directly put them in mortal danger) I can continue to see why people like these so much (and how and why idiots misinterpret them).

PHASE V - CONSUMPTION

PHASE IV - SUBDUAL (I truly love that amid all the gore and viscera, there are still these moments of poetically hilarious justice and genuine heroism. It’s crazy how well these thread that needle without being mawkish)

NOOOOWWW we are getting to the goodies! Cat Grant! Phantom Stranger! Professor Hamilton! Better still, actual STORIES! Sure they are a little jumbled (especially since the covers aren’t attached to each issue separating them out by series) but I’m happy these are actual STORIES instead of just more origin malarkey.

GOD that Terry Austen. These have all looked gorgeous so far.

McDonald is really, REALLY good at endings.

PART THREE - O, KING OF CHAOS!

(Man, what was it about the early 2000s Doctor Who and homophobic slurs?)

PART III - HERCULE POIROT SITS BACK AND THINKS

Really appreciating how adorable Book Poirot is and how this is just as much a comedy of manners as it is a murder mystery.

PART II - THE EVIDENCE.

Dan Dan Stevens just do it all?! His Poirot rules but the way he’s differentiating each of the other characters is SO good.

I love that this is a super well-constructed locked room mystery filled with great characters but also has a sequence in which someone insists someone else is guilty because they chewed gum. Hysterical.

When you can’t sleep, you return to the classics. This being read by Dan Stevens certainly doesn’t hurt either.

The second to last issue in this takes some hard right turns into Brave and Bold territory and frankly, you love to see it.

This thing has like three separate ongoing plots (that are tangentially connected as one macro-plot) and the way it’s bringing them all together is just a goddamn blast. Very excited to continue this momentum going into its final 150 pages.

I have to take these back to the library soonish so I’m trying to clip through them. These are the issues I’m the least familiar with but they are still steadily whipping. I’m happy they didn’t wait too terribly long to start rotating in guest artists. I love love love Luke Ross but getting people like Noto and the like in just makes them feel like showcase issues for more than just the scripting.

This thing is absolute nonsense so far but it’s absolutely FUN nonsense and that’s precisely the speed I want to be going rn.

The Eighth Doctor carries a hip flask full of brandy. God I love him so much.

There is a subplot in this I don’t love but the idea of Reacher being left a house in someone’s will and it breaking his brain a little is Very Good.

Part Two. Turlough is having a real bad time.

I love that Fitz kinda sucks.
