Book 1 of 2 complete. And it was incredibly *ah-hem-HEMMMN* chaaaaaaarrrrrmmmmmminnnngggggggg outright comedy is always a very fun gear for the Hard Case Crime line to be in. VERY curious as to how the second one holds up against this one. Fac’ is, it was a very good book.

I think I’m almost at the end of the first book in this collection and it’s a really goddamn fun read. And brisk too! I love that the chapters are only a few pages long in some cases, it makes the whole thing feel like it’s ramping up well.

Man, McDonald just never misses, huh?

I do love a Justin Richards though. He’s always really solid and pulpy in the best ways.

I think I’ve rechecked this out from the library like four times now. It’s not a knock against its quality, I just am too focused on other books rn I think to really bare down in this one. But it’s still fun!

Part Four: Sadie and The General.

I’m getting to the point now where I just have to finish this just so I can think about something else.

Yeah, this has like…FULLY got me now. Not only because I have to know how it turns out but it’s just so goddamn charming and teasing in the way it’s foreshadowing the whole deal. I love it.

This is getting really fun but the Certain Subplot in this one is…skirting toward some problematic areas that I don’t know can or will resolve well.

Yeah, this rules.

Part Three: Living In The Past.

This has well and truly kicked off now and it’s DELIGHTFUL

Home stretch now (I think). I’m trying to put this to bed since it has to go back soon. Though I’m still not sure it will be the 5 ⭐️ experience others find it, I’m having a lot of fun with it. It’s a wonderful starter Forgotten Realms yarn and it’s chock full of amazing RPG bullshit.

Part Four! His Panther friend is here now! That’s fun (despite this still not being like Groundbreaking yet. All the stuff about Underdark society tho still rules rules rules).
