Okay NOW this is starting to get interesting.

I’m joining everyone in 1990. This has been fun but I’m taking the constantly bandying about how it’s “one of the great novels” with a grain of salt as all the people that told me that basically exclusively read licensed books and only licensed books (40k, Halo, and the like). I mean, I’m a huge dork too but also I know other books, proper books exist too. Excited to learn all about this high goth bitch.

This is getting WEIRD as I get into Part Two.

I continue to delight in the runner of McGann’s Doctor constantly eating sweets.

Just went I was kinda lulling with this b-plot BAM! There is a goddamn anime villain in it now. Half scarred face and a hook hand to boot! We’re BACK, baybeeee

Home stretch now. I totally forgot how much it seems like Nyssa is in an entirely different book.

Those were a…very good first two issues. I got as a hoopla bonus borrow so I’m happy I’m getting to fill this Cantwell gap.

I love that these books will just casually drop something insane and/or fucked up and then just never mention it again. Like the fact that Sam’s future had contraceptive medicine dispenser machines hooked into neon signs at bars so people could make fun of them after they had gotten some.

Like…WHAT?!

I kinda love that the Doctor is largely operating like Bugs Bunny throughout this opening.

I’d forgotten just how much time we just spend with Zaphod and Marvin in these first sequences.

Truly adore Child going “ya know how Reacher was jacked before? Well now he’s even MORE JACKED and TAN TOO” I fuckin’ love these things.

I fucking love that most of the set ups for these so far have just been like “Reacher accidentally stumbles into an action movie set up”. He’s already such an interesting character it’s amazing to see him just…reacting to stuff.

I totally forgot about the whole Gay Monk subplot! No wonder I loved this one as a budding queer teen.
